Before anyone is misled by that title(and yes its a great wish), I was just wondering if JR jr has ever done work on a Batman title. I think he's the perdect fit for Batman, what with his Daredevil on Man Without Fear and Spider-Man.

I vaguely remember a Punisher/Batman crossover where he drew Bats, but has he drawn Bats anywhere else?

Thanks!

I think that he would be an amazing Batman artist. Hope we will see something in the future...

Bats/Punisher is the only time I'm aware of.

Aside from this cover, that is:

But since his nick here is marveljrjr I don't think that's happening any time soon.

I know covers aren't really his strong point, but that's one weird looking Superman...still...hope we get his Batman one day...heck I'd read Morrison's Batman on a regular basis if his art was there.

Yeah, that superman looks a little weird, But I hope we see a Batman related title one day, even a crossover again.

I think JRjr is completely loyal to Marvel and they do seem to treat him awful well especially compared to other bronze age creators/artists.

As much as I would love to see my favorite artist tackle my favorite super-hero, JR jr is very much a Marvel mainstay. But who knows, maybe one day JR's work will grace the pages of a DC book.

I've never cared for Romita Jr.'s art so he can stay at Marvel all he wants, as long as they keep him away from Daredevil.

I concur. Bagley just jumped, so you never know...

For classic Marvel artists, if I had a wayback machine, I would not mind seeing a late 60s John Romita Sr. Batman story. I'd loved to also seen John Buscema and Tom Palmer do a Batman issue or two.

The only more recent John Romita Jr. issues I have seen is his run a few years ago in Amazing Spider-man. His style has tightened up and gotten more detailed than the stuff he did on X-men in the 80s and Daredevil (with Al Williamson). I've never had a problem with his art and think he would do a good Batman, as he has a lot of experience with characters in urban settings.

Well, I edon't think Janke's inks are halping. He'd been doing inks over Jon Bogdanove's chicken-scratch scribbles on Man of Steel for years at the time and it probably rubbed off. An inker like Al Williamson, Mark Farmer, or Scott Hanna would be a lot better for Romita's pencils.

As for Romita on Batman, I think it's possible. Batman's the only DC character he likes, as I recall him saying once. a JR Jr. Superman isn't possible unless it's a commission or con sketch, but a Batman run? Not exactly a pipe dream.

As for Bagley, he wants a crack at BOTH Supes and Bats, Supes especially. So that's pretty much inevitable.

JR, jr drew Punisher Batman Deadly Knights in 1994. However, his art was crapped up by Klaus Janson's inks.

I heard he (JRJR) was working on the X-men at the time when he was told to go do this Punisher/Batman thing and when he came back to work on the X-men the editor (Corvese I think his name was) told him to take a hike.

He swore to never work on the X-men again. Funny adendum to that JRJR Batman thing.

However, JR jr did once a job for Image, it was 3 or 4 years back, a mini called "Grey Area". It's his only job outside Marvel.

I don't buy the idea that JR JR. is so "loyal" to Marvel he wouldn't jump to DC if they offered him a premier gig and a check with a lot of zeros on the end.

Artists and writers are like free agents in pro sports. They may have a preference for one team over the other, but everyone likes money and likes to find out how much of it they're really worth.

Mark Bagley will be back at Marvel some day and Mark Millar will work again for DC. Even Bendis can be bought if the price is right. Joe Quesada won't be the EIC of Marvel forever and when he goes the guys who have been his favorites will consider the right gig at DC if it's offered.

Loyalty? You want loyalty? Buy a dog.

Aw man, his art is pure crap, it ranks with Liefelds'. I don't want to see any DC character tainted by his awful art.

for all we know he probably grew up around most of these people at some point in time and Marvel has put JRJR on just about every damn Marvel character imaginable,
i think there is a ton of love and loyalty there that he would not have at Dc mostly cause i don't think hes that good especially compared to his father.

Has there ever been a time where Janson or Sienkiewicz haven't destroyed perfectly good pencils with their inks? I can't think of a single clean-styled penciller who ever benefitted from their scratch-and-splatter style.

Um...aren't we forgetting that these guys delayed Action and Batman beyond all belief last year? Adam Kubert won't be finishing his Superman stint until FEBRUARY. These guys don't have a professional bone in their bodies. Why should DC reward them with more monthly gigs they can't meet?

Agreed. I've never really cared for his art myself, and especially not recently. His early stuff in the 80s wasn't bad, though, but as he progressed in his career I think he's been an awful artist. People love his work for some reason, too.

I prefer JR Sr.'s work, no contest.

I don't know how anyone can like that art. It looks like reader submitted art from an 11 yr old. I was first exposed to his art back in the 80's on Spiderman and then by the time he worked on a Cable mini in the 90's, I knew I didn't like his art. If his last name wasn't Romita he'd be just as obscure as Jim Valentino.

I can't stand his art at all. Scratchy, messy, grimy...no thanks. And when he inks over a penciller whose art is the complete opposite of his own, the end result is always a disgrace.

We got to see a Romita Batman in one of the Batman/Punisher crossovers a few years back. As big a fan as I am of Romita, and I am a very big fan, I don't think I cared for his Batman that much. I'd be curious to see his take on the character now, but as is he wouldn't be my first choice for Batman.

I'd kill to see him on a Fourth World book though. That'd be awesome.
