There's been a lot of negativity towards OMD and BND, so I thought it might be nice to start a thread with some optimism! ;)
It's been a major gripe of mine since the Ben Reilly days that writers don't do enough as far as creating new supporting characters for Peter. I know they've introduced some, but they either a) don't continue to develop them, or b) after the writer's run ends, the followup writers rarely continue to use and develop these characters. Why were/are characters like Harry, Gwen, Flash, Liz Osborn, Better Brant, MJ, and Aunt May all successful? I think it's because writers used them and continued to develop them over the years...giving them layers to their personalities and charactaristics.
Looking at the previews of BND, it does look like we're getting an influx of new characters, villians and supporting characters alike. My hope is that they can incorporate these new characters as well as continue to use long time supporting characters. Time will untimately tell, but one thing I think has lacked in recent years is a strong supporting cast for Peter.
Here's hoping!
