Anyone know of a resource where I can find the titles and reading order for Cataclysm, Road to No Man's Land, No Man's Land, and Aftershock? I'm not looking for anyone to go through the trouble of posting all the issues, just a website or book or something.

Thanks.

-b.

P.S. Never mind. I found it on Wikipedia. Thanks.

Wow. I think I own all of those issues. I remember it when it came out. I actully didn't mind the crossover because on the plus side I got a weekly comic.

That's actually why I was looking for the list of issues. Because I had heard that not all the issues were contained in the trades. I read the same thing on Wikipedia.

...In all, "No Man's Land" encompassed 80 regular monthly issues, 4 specials, and the Batman: Harley Quinn graphic novel, which introduced Harley Quinn to the DC Comics universe....The core storyline is collected as trade paperbacks in five volumes. However, because of the large number of issues that were devoted to "No Man's Land," only 40 of them made it into the collections...

That's correct. However, most were collected, and certainly all that are essential to follow the storyline.

Based on my (Limited) knowledge, I think it's just the issues of Shadow that aren't collected. I may be wrong, as I don't have the trades...

I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.

Yeah, I was way off:p

I decided to look it up. They have all but the following collected:
Secret Files & Origins 1
YJ Special 1
Tec 737
Batman 570
Legends 122-124
Shadow 89-91
Batman Chronicles 17
None of the Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing, or Azrael issues...

I'm pretty sure that's accurate. That's actually a lot they skipped over.

It's actually not very much. Catwoman, Robin, Azrael, and Nightwing were not part of the main storyline and did not cross-over with the main Batman books or each other. Some issues of those series were labeled as NML tie-ins simply because they were set against the backdrop of NML.

Most of what was not collected was simply fluff that was not important to the overall storyline and was not all that great either. Of particular bad note are the story arcs "Low Road to Golden Mountain" (where Batman lets a young girl working in a sweatshop die and shows little regard for human life), "The Code" (where Harley Quinn takes tips from romance novels to impress the Joker), and "Underground Railroad" (which has inconsistencies concerning how people can get in and out of the NML), none of which are in TPB. These story arcs stood out to me as bad because the bulk of NML was excellent and, in my opinion, the best Batman crossover by far.

I haven't read it yet... I'm almost there though! I'm working my way through from year one to now... I was out of comics for a few years.

My saying a lot of stuff wasn't collected was based on the number of issues not in the trades, not knowing what the content was...

So I just happen to have all of those issues listed. I also have the 5 No Man's Land trades. I guess my question is, which should I read? I would usually come to the conclusion that it would be better to read the issues in order. But Brack360 seems to think that the issues not included in the trades aren't worth reading. Like I said, I already have the issues, so perhaps I should go ahead and read them anyway?

Thoughts?

If you already have those issues, you should definitely read them anyway. You may end up liking them, for all I know. I just wanted to put out that I didn’t think they were all that great and that it really isn’t necessary to track down those back issues from years ago to understand the main storyline in the TPB’s.

Actually, I seem to recall that some of the Azrael and Catwoman issues (especially toward the end) DO cross-over with the main Batman books.

I am positive that they do not. I don't even have all of the Azrael issues and did not miss any of the major storyline going on in the main books. Catwoman also did not directly cross-over either. Catwoman's main involvement in NML was retrieving discs for Batman that contained records of who owned real estate in Gotham. That storyline was self-contained in her series, though I believe she returned the discs to Batman in an issue of a main Batman book.

I guess it comes down to what you consider a "crossover." If you mean it has to say "continued in Azrael #whatever", then you're right, of course. But the Azrael and Catwoman storylines do shed further light on what is happening in the main titles and relate to the main storyline.
