Hello,

I have a quick question. I just recently purchased this 1976 Underdog comic book for $5 at a flea market and I searched on ebay and one was being sold for $25. When I saw the Ebay listing it said that it must have the Comic Book Authority stamp of a approval (or something similar) I've looked everywhere, but I can't seem to find it. I believe this is a Whitman comic if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

I suspect that it was a comic book that produced with the CCA Comics Code Authority stamp of approval, but I doubt if that was still in effect by 1976.

Upon re-reading your post, I see that you looked on Ebay for it. Why not in an official Overstreet price guide? You can find one at most Public Libraries, though not always up to date with current pricing, but good for research...

If there's a notation in the price guide, I don't know why. Are they telling you that the only edition that is worth anything is the one that was sold on the newstand with that stamp? Are there any other listings for that issue? Or are they telling you that there were a lot of others given away through another means and so, aren't worth anything?

Search me!

Here are some Underdog covers at Mile High(the GCD being down):

Gold Key and Whitman issues are interchangeable. Neither would have a Comics Code stamp on the cover.

If you have an issue of Underdog with a CCA stamp it would mean it was a Charlton issue.

EDIT: This is probably the Ebay copy you are referring to. It's a Whitman.

That is just a joke. It has nothing to do with the Underdog comic book he is selling.

I thought he was referring to the comic book he is selling since he did state to look for that stamp. I am a comic book noob and never collected them, but I saw this one for sale and couldn't resist, it was only $5 anyway and in mint condition :)

Thanks for all the replies guys! Just looking at that listing I thought it MUST come with the stamp, but now I know that is not the case.
