of comic books, they are in emaculate condition, he owned a comic shop and took them off the shelf and stored them for me until two days ago when he gave them to me. there are so many and i tried looking them up on the internet and found some with prices ranging from $350 for the black cover with the red superman emblem to lower. I couldnt find prices for the white cover just like the one above, because i dont wish to open it i have no idea what edition or volume number it is. I have never been interested in comics, ell not enough to learn the lingo or anything so if i sound like a beginer thats because i am. anythoughts on the collection i just recieved?? i was told by a comic store that i called to have them proffessionally graded and stored but i cant afford that, college student with a family to support on small income. any ideas for good storage?? thank you to anyone taking the time to read this and to replie.

Chances are that the collection may not be as much as you have seen. if some of the books are sealed in the bag such as the Black and White editions, they could still be creased or bent. There's just no way of knowing unless you carefully feel or just take the book out of the bag.

Grading is about $15 per book if you go with CGC grading. Most of the time you can get a 20% discount when submitting your books.

In all honesty though, those books were only hot in 92-93. They're not rare, as millions of these books were printed in various editions. I myself have 3 copies of each "death" saga as well as the "reign of supermen" and "return" saga.

I'd suggest submitting 4 or 5 books at a time to CGC. I submit mine like that to my local comic shop buddy, who in turn ships them to another comic shop out of town he knows that acually submits to CGC, since you cant send your books dirctly to CGC. If you send the sealed bagged books, CGC will remove them from the bag and grade it then encapsulate it with whatever grade. Look into it a bit more at the CGC offical website.

Good luck, hope this helps.

This really isn't the forum to be discussing stuff like this. This is for discussing the character and stories, not for selling or pricing old comics.

If I were you, I would take them to another comic shop and sell them all now. They aren't going to increase in value and they're only going to be a pain to keep in storage.

I don't think they are that valuable. because EVERYONE thought they would be valuable so it was excess collecting so the value wasn't that much, because it wasn't rare. I think even the Wolverine Origin series sells for far more and that's from 02.

I really doubt any of those comics will be worth more than $5 and most you'll have trouble getting 50 cents for.

I'm pretty sure that this is blasphemy but I liked the novelization as much, if not more than I liked the comics.

Roger Stern version, Superman's torn cape on the cover.

I concur, it was really good stuff, and completely accessible to a non-comic reader overall.

I think that the Simonson version was written for younger readers. They did the same thing for Batman: Knightfall.

A bleeding S-emblem, actually.

Wow, didn't even realize he (well, "you", if you're the poster above me) did that. Though, I haven't really thought about it in a decade or more. Guess I had the silly kiddie version:o Good thing I was a silly kiddie. And had all the comics too. And a Knightfall novel version and most of those books too.
