One of my hobbies is playing RPG's and one staple element of traditional RPG's is the role of the divine magic user. A person who isn't necessarily a Wizard or Sorcerer for these two individuals seem to use magic in the sense in away to bend reality to their will. Each usually implores it in a different manner, such as the wizard or mage researching ancient tomes of arcane lore while the sorcerer usually having the ability to manipulate magic innately through some mysterious power in his bloodline. Yet divine casters were usually people who worshipped a greater being and thus became a conduit for a type of magic that was in a since a small speck of that gods/goddess power, in away it was greater. Divine casters were also asked to live by example as to how the being they worshipped wanted them to live and to preach their beliefs to those that would listen and gain new followers so as to increase the gods influence in the world and thus its power..

The later part of this is really what Marvel is missing to me. I know that in this modern age, such ideas and practices would be silly and thus not really highly focused on in fiction, (at least not in superhero comics.) but it is probably one of the most under used aspects of story telling. I know strange has his moments when he askes some being to give him some power and for whatever reason they do it, though they have absolutely nothing in common, nor does he worship them, but its those very same reasons why I don't potientally care for him as a divine casters, (which he isn't in any sense of the meaning.)

So what say you. Do you guys think, there could be a place for pantheons and other greater powers, and those powers inspiring different people to start clergy's and for some particular few within those clergy to be trained in the ways of prayer in such invoking their deities power? I think it'd be cool.

Side Note: Baron Mordo I guess would be a similiar type of character but he isn't so much as a divine caster as he is a sorcerer who just happens to know of a greater being who can grant him increased power. Isn't Mordo also a born sorcerer (with magic innately in his blood)?

Dr. Strange already does something along those lines, in that he draws on the power of mystic entities with whom he has good relationships (Watoomb, Raggadorr, Cyttorak, etc.) to cast certain spells. At one point, he lost the bulk of his spells when he refused to take part in some big ol' mystic blood feud and his patrons cut him off.

To my knowledge, it hasn't really been done with the more traditional pantheons. It'd be an interesting idea, I suppose.
