I'd recommend reading 'Planet Hulk' too. The bulk of the story is contained in Incredible Hulk issue numbers 88 to 105. In my opinion this story is actually better than 'World War Hulk', if you read it you'll see what I mean!

If you'd like to go pre-Pak, the most noticeable run on the title is Peter David's dozen-year run (He's also done a few HULK projects since such as Tempest Fugit and the end). Also Bill Mantlo's early 80's run is pretty good. Paul Jenkins also did a memorable run on the title. Outside of Pak and Jenkins The longest run in the 00's on the title has been Bruce Jones, but his Hulk stuff received mixed reactions from fans and is being largely retconned.

Most Incredible Hulk issues are available via the DVD-rom set, however if you go TPB I believe PAD's run on Hulk has a few TPBs such as Visionaries and a few others (The back issues are also fairly cheap, with the exception of the early issues of his run done by Mcfarlane).

The older Hulk stuff from the 60s is actually some of the weaker Hulk material-sure, it establishes the whole Hulk universe, but a lot of the stories and a bit of the art are a mixed bag compared to say, Spider-Man or Fantastic Four from the same era.
