On route to earth the Hulk and his warbound are struck by a blast that staggers the imagination. It is a gamma ray burst that in one second releases as much energy as the 10 billion trillion stars in the universe combined. It is the second biggest blast in recorded history. The blast instantly vaporizes the entire ship and everyone in it, except for the hulk. The explosion peels away his skin and muscle mass but in the peak of his anger he is JUST able to withstand the extreme heat and power, he simultaneously absorbs the gamma rays like a sponge increasing his durability. The total energy released is equal to 5 billion supernovae.

That or something similar happens... What new powers would he acquire if any? What sort of upper limit strength feats would he now be capable of? Would he be able to fly through space using a super thunder clap? Crack the armor of a Celestial? Manipulate energy?

Just curious to know what would happen if this gamma ray battery were actually charged.

I'd say he'd just become a cosmic entity. Absorbing a gamma burst that huge.....should lead to some new tricks. Energy manipulation, already attainable infinite strength (no rise with anger, he already has it), cosmic awareness, existing as pure energy, whatever you can think of. Gamma god.

Hm, is that true for our reality? I know gamma ray bursts are the most badass cosmic events in nature (a burst lasting like milliseconds will output more energy than the sun will in 10 billion years), but damn, that's a lot of energy eh? Makes a million exploding supernovas look like a million exploding AAA batteries *cough*cough*

You could have a cool plot line that Hulk takes over the universe and infects all living beings with a angery maddness.

A sort of chaos reign that will eventuly alert other cosmic beings due to it's threat to the entire cosmos.

The outcome is they have to change the dominant conciousness to that of Banner, which in turn leads to the universe in a calm but logical(to the point of banal) order.

Hehe. It looks like WWH is enough to give the power of allegedly one million supernovae a challenge.

This gamma ray burst dwarfs "normal" gamma ray bursts like the one you described. Some of it is taken word for word from this article: http://www.cnn.com/TECH/space/9805/06/space.explosion/
But it's from 1998, I think the new largest recorded explosion in the universe resulted from a neutron star getting sucked into a black hole. Or maybe not: http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?articleID=00076736-6EC5-11DC-AEC583414B7F0000

I wonder if his anger would still proportionately increase his power even if he absorbed that much energy.

Technically, this would be the third largest blast within the universe. The second largest was the big bang. The largest was when the Molecule Man gathered up "much of the spare energy of the multiverse" and let it go in a blast at the Beyonder that would have "slagged a few billion dimensions".

It may be presumed either the Beyonder or the Molecule Man gathered up much of the blast energy before it could do too much damage to the surrounding reality.
