Natalie blinked hard to dry her tears, biting softly through her lips. Dean was in a dismal state, and she was afraid he may never come back out. How could this have happened to him, of all people.

"Past...future...you're focussed on too many things elsewhere, forgetting where you are," she started,"You, Dean Gaitlan, need to think of the now; the present."

Her hands clutched and wobbled about her staff in her nervous resolve.

"Garthin and Old Nevada are dead? I find that hard to believe; you're standing right here, aren't you? And the future, though it comes without mercy, is not fixed."

She pounded the butt of the staff on the ground with a flicker of magical force, imbedding it within the stone.

"She came back because she knew her father was a hero!"

Selma began kissing her cheek again, ignoring the wolf pup playing with her hair. As she did so, Selma pulled Natalie closer to her, smirking as she said "Now submit!"

Feeling the insistant tugging on her hair, she said "Also, if its not too much trouble oh mighty Natalie, please call off your attack pup."

Xellos inquired as he slammed the ground with his fist, causing a blaze to erupt and masking him from view. A wave of heat diffused rapidly outwards, expanding the air into the vacuum blades and dissipating them.

When the fire died down, Xellos was no longer standing there, or anywhere else visible from where Quince was standing. He leaned on his heels, his back pressing on her own and tapped his staff on his shoulder wonderingly.

Quince chuckled, and then she vanished, causing Xellos to momentarily loose balance.

A moment later she appeared again and started running around him. Her speed cast multiple after images, making it look as if there were five of her.

"I think... You'll have... To ask... Her that... Yourself..." each phantom image said.

Smiling, Selma released Natalie's wrist as she said "OK, you can look now."

He also found that...well, wierd. He couldnt help but wonder what kind of minion would send someone back intime, to the same place as it's master? If Dean didnt know any better, he would think it to be on purpose.

Maybe Solarius just thought they would all die, or it was a fluke. Either way, Dean dropped the thought a second later.

There was a draft of air, and suddenly he felt Quince's blade against his throat. She had appeared behind him as he focused on the phantoms, which now faded as suddenly as they had appeared.

"I tried to kill her," Quince said quietly into his ear. "Good thing it didn't go well, I guess."

Xellos rubbed his neck against the blunt edge of her blade.

"Death is such an interesting way to make friends."

Holding the staff close, he pulled it into himself, piercing it through his abdomen to hit her sternum, driving the air from her lungs.

Cold water, not blood, flowed along the length of the staff as Xellos's water clone melted into the concrete. It hit the roof with a clang, rolling to the foot of Xellos as he climbed up from a window ledge.

"Tell me about it."

Karma. The existential notion of that one's deeds for good or ill would come back around in a cycle. For so long, Natalie had been doted upon by a number of Dragon Dorm members, feeling ever more helpless and lost as time came along, making others worry for her.

Dean's smile had been crushed under the weight of the self imposed guilt that hung over his head, for family, for strength, for everything. If he wasn't Dean, Natalie was sure that anybody else would have buckled down and cried; instead, like Selma did before, he took it all inside himself.

And now, Xing had revealed a terrible secret.

She had been idle for so long, that she had forgotten the crux of her mission. It pained her so to see such strong figures breaking down.

Solarius... she seethed internally, searching in vain to pin him down as a scapegoat. But it wasn't to be.

She kept her words concise for now, the shock holding her tongue.

"Dean...you're not a failure. Don't ever say that. Old Nevada will never lie in the ashes of time, you know this already..."

Turning to Xing, her eyes watered as she brought her hand onto his shoulder.

"Xing...I-I..."

She couldn't bring out the words. All of her knowledge, any wisdom she had learned from, failed her. For what does one say when they have resigned themselves to their fate?

Shaking her head, she faintly smiled.

"...I can try and contact your brother, ja? Wherever you are, there are forces at work, and it is always your choice to proceed, ja," she said through stammers, fighting the tears."

Xing almost failed to hear the rest of Natalie's words once she mentioned the possibility of trying to contact his brother.

Was it possible, he wondered. Would the sacrifice his brother had made truly no longer be necessary?

Xing's mouth opened, the expression on his face said he was eager to accept her proposal.

But then, he stopped, and for a moment he looked very unsure. An internal struggle raged within him, his wish to see his brother one more time facing against something else.

Sighing, as if he'd resigned to something, Xing spoke, "No... there is no longer a need for that."

"When he used his body to repair mine, it offered his soul a link to the mortal plane. That meant he couldn't pass on peacefully."

"Even before I was completely aware of his prescence, I always felt like something had been watching over me. To know that he sacrificed eternal peace for my sake..... For seventeen long years....."

"When Solarius sent me back to the past, the Queen Mother of the West appraoched me.... and she allowed me passage to the realm of the dead to see my brother."

Dean was silent. Although he heard Xings words, his mind just couldnt comprehend the weight of Xings words. After running them through his head a dozen times, he finally managed to make some sense of it.

"...Y-You're dying? " Part of Dean thought that to be nonsense, and wished to strike Xing for making such a horrible joke.

Unfortunately, he knew Xing well enough to know he wouldnt joke about such a thing. Besides....

Yong and Ruman had both told Dean about Xing's genetic abnormality, ages ago, after his spar with Xing. He had felt so guilty about what had happened, their words were nothing more than excuses to him for the longest time.

He had knew about Xings condition, or part of it, and did nothing.

It had never occured to Dean, to actually check up on his friends condition after he had recovered. Hell, he had completely forgotten about the incident in all the chaos.

"Is that why....During the finals...?" His voice trailed off.

Xing had been incredibly agitated during the finals, so much so, he seemed like a different person. Dean assumed it was due to the stresses of the finals, but it was obvious enough in hindsight, Xing was in such poor spirits, because he had found out about his fate.

A more astute person would likely have connected the dots, and the thought had never even crossed Deans mind that the two incidents were releated. He had completely, and utterly undersetimated the servirity of Xings condition.

Thus, when one of his closest allies needed him most, he had done nothing. Again.

But why didnt he say anything sooner?

That question was simple enough. Dean himself would have never admitted her was dying, until it began rotting from the inside out. How could he expect Xing to be any different? He had never been one to ask for pity, after all.

Still, part of himself couldnt help but hate Xing for saying nothing the whole time--No, he knew that wasnt true. He hated himself for being so oblivious to what was going on.


Dean found himself at a loss for words. What could he possibly say to Xing after this? His friend had been suffering in silence, and he didnt even notice.

Xellos made to charge her and let out a battlecry, which conveniently masked the footsteps of a second water clone he'd created out of sight. In position, it swung its' ice staff at her back.

Without even looking, Quince blocked the strike and grabbed the clone by the arm. She then sidestepped and threw it at the real Xellos. Almost playfully, she gave the clone a final slash across the back. For a moment Xellos saw his own face dissolve before he splashed into it.

Karma. The existential notion of that one's deeds for good or ill would come back around in a cycle. For so long, Natalie had been doted upon by a number of Dragon Dorm members, feeling ever more helpless and lost as time came along, making others worry for her.

Dean's smile had been crushed under the weight of the self imposed guilt that hung over his head, for family, for strength, for everything. If he wasn't Dean, Natalie was sure that anybody else would have buckled down and cried; instead, like Selma did before, he took it all inside himself.

And now, Xing had revealed a terrible secret.

She had been idle for so long, that she had forgotten the crux of her mission. It pained her so to see such strong figures breaking down.

Solarius... she seethed internally, searching in vain to pin him down as a scapegoat. But it wasn't to be.

She kept her words concise for now, the shock holding her tongue.

"Dean...you're not a failure. Don't ever say that. Old Nevada will never lie in the ashes of time, you know this already..."

Turning to Xing, her eyes watered as she brought her hand onto his shoulder.

"Xing...I-I..."

She couldn't bring out the words. All of her knowledge, any wisdom she had learned from, failed her. For what does one say when they have resigned themselves to their fate?

Shaking her head, she faintly smiled.

"...I can try and contact your brother, ja? Wherever you are, there are forces at work, and it is always your choice to proceed, ja," she said through stammers, fighting the tears."

But then, he stopped, and for a moment he looked very unsure. An internal struggle raged within him, his wish to see his brother one more time facing against something else.

Sighing, as if he'd resigned to something, Xing spoke, "No... there is no longer a need for that."

"When he used his body to repair mine, it offered his soul a link to the mortal plane. That meant he couldn't pass on peacefully."

"Even before I was completely aware of his prescence, I always felt like something had been watching over me. To know that he sacrificed eternal peace for my sake..... For seventeen long years....."

"When Solarius sent me back to the past, the Queen Mother of the West appraoched me.... and she allowed me passage to the realm of the dead to see my brother."

"I'm.... I'm not completely sure about what my brother said, but.... the impurity within us.... He spoke of it as if it were a sentient force... Whatever the case, he chose to sacrifice that link between us to seal away whatever that creature was."

"My brother is now in peace, and I... I just can't bring myself to furthur burden him with my troubles. He'd done enough for me, and I can only respect him by letting him rest."

Dean was silent. Although he heard Xings words, his mind just couldnt comprehend the weight of Xings words. After running them through his head a dozen times, he finally managed to make some sense of it.

"...Y-You're dying? " Part of Dean thought that to be nonsense, and wished to strike Xing for making such a horrible joke.

Unfortunately, he knew Xing well enough to know he wouldnt joke about such a thing. Besides....

Yong and Ruman had both told Dean about Xing's genetic abnormality, ages ago, after his spar with Xing. He had felt so guilty about what had happened, their words were nothing more than excuses to him for the longest time.

He had knew about Xings condition, or part of it, and did nothing.

It had never occured to Dean, to actually check up on his friends condition after he had recovered. Hell, he had completely forgotten about the incident in all the chaos.

"Is that why....During the finals...?" His voice trailed off.

Xing had been incredibly agitated during the finals, so much so, he seemed like a different person. Dean assumed it was due to the stresses of the finals, but it was obvious enough in hindsight, Xing was in such poor spirits, because he had found out about his fate.

A more astute person would likely have connected the dots, and the thought had never even crossed Deans mind that the two incidents were releated. He had completely, and utterly undersetimated the servirity of Xings condition.

Thus, when one of his closest allies needed him most, he had done nothing. Again.

But why didnt he say anything sooner?

That question was simple enough. Dean himself would have never admitted her was dying, until it began rotting from the inside out. How could he expect Xing to be any different? He had never been one to ask for pity, after all.

Still, part of himself couldnt help but hate Xing for saying nothing the whole time--No, he knew that wasnt true. He hated himself for being so oblivious to what was going on.


Dean found himself at a loss for words. What could he possibly say to Xing after this? His friend had been suffering in silence, and he didnt even notice.

"...I'm...Sorry."


Xing shook his head, "No, my friend. I should be the one to apoligize. For my lack of trust in you, and everyone else."

"I had allowed my own fears to cloud my judgement, and I apoligize for not having told you earlier."

Then laughing with an unusual bitterness in his voice, Xing added, "Instead of trusting you, like I should've I put my faith in another instead. A stranger who I didn't even know."

"He called himself the Healer. The first time I suffered the effects of the flaw, he came to me and helped me. I never felt so whole in my life thanks to him. But, it was temporary."

"After whatever he'd done to me faded, my brother told me to be wary of him.... Had I only listened to him then.... Instead, I once again tried to locate him for aid, on the day of the Finals."

"Dean, I can't say I can completely recall every detail of that day. Ramus told me that I'd participated in battle against the Norns, but I simply cannot remember such things happening. My brother told me that it was the Healer's doing."

"Nevertheless, I have not seen the man since."

Xing then confined himself to silence, for a moment recalling what he'd heard a few moments ago. Apparently, it was clear that something had happened in Old Nevada.

Though he could make fair guesses over the nature of the events that'd occured, they were still uncertainties and perhaps those were what led Xing to the mess he was in now.

"Dean, I must ask, what had happened when you went to Old Nevada? To have entered the land of your ancestors must've truly been a blessing, and yet.... You seemed unwell a few hours ago even before Diana's..." Xing stopped mid-sentence, deciding it was inappropriate to speak of that which had happened a little too soon for comfort.

"Xing..."

Natalie trailed off, at a loss for words. It seemed he had resigned himself to this fate invariably. She didn't know what to say, cursing that she didn't know of anything to do.

"I'm...I'm..."

This was exactly the reason, this sort of thing, that made her wish to pursue the Ring in the first place.

"...going to help you. Gott dammen, I will!"

She suddenly stopped what she was doing, and traced a circle in the ground with her staff.

"...just tell me what you need."

Xing frankly appeared quite suprised at the zeal which seemed to have struck Natalie.

That wasn't to say he couldn't understand however. He probably would have reacted the same way if he were faced with the idea that one of his friends was to meet his end soon.

Xing offered a smile to Natalie, hoping it would offer a measure of comfort to her, "Natalie.... Truly, I thank you for any help you could offer. However, I do not wish my... condition to prove itself as a burden to you and everyone else."

"Make no mistake, regardless of the situation, I will do my best to see that Solarius and the Bringer are dealt with."

I do have a problem with some of the things you tend to do when you RP and when you talk about RP events.

It's not just you. If I see something worth mentioning that I don't like, and think I can express it in a reasonable way, I'll do so. I do think Khold is often overly harsh. I did get pissed when I felt Dog was abusing the abilities of the NPC. I'm aware of some of my own flaws in RPing and I'm sure others could point out other flaws.

That said, nobody on this thread has commited as made me annoyed in as many different ways or as consistently as you.

Your infractions (from my POV, not Cleric's), many of which have happened multiple times include blatant copying of posts, viewing your character through ridiculously rose tinted glasses, posting your character winning major fights in a couple of posts, RPing other players' characters being idiotic to make Kekowa look good, and I'm sure there are a couple I'm too sleepy to think of.

I used to think you often didn't know any better, but then you started saying bad stuff in OOC and dismissing them as jokes whenever they backfired on you.

Your saving graces include the effort you put into your RPing and your tendency to listen to advice with an open mind.

What I said just now was due to the rose tinted glasses view I feel you've been having of the pier incident. Whatever flicker of hope Kekowa had for romancing Natalie is dead, gone, buried. He got let down as gently as was possible under the circumstances.

I'm not setting out for you to hate me, I don't have a vendetta against you. If I kept quiet all the time for fear of offending anyone with my comments, my insight would be useless and I think things would be the worse for it.

Kekowa is the victim of 2 things: he's easy to make fun of and I dislike him. Not that he's not a reasonably well developed character, but I just dislike his character type. The end result being that he's the butt of alot of jokes and burns. Xellos gets his fair share too, comes with the territory when you use a controversial character.

When his eyes adjusted he saw Django, he had been meaning to talk to the fae since what was this morning. "Django-San, how are you its great to see a friendly face around this dark and drewery place."

I suppose it combines his Chi/Str stat when wielding a blade, or something. I dont know the science.

During that singular whirl to reduce the speed of the section, the feathers of chi were carried by the air toward Wilhelm, waiting for him to make only the slightest touch before going of like a line of napalm.

Rather than attempting to dodge the dust cloud, Dean ran into the cloud, eyes glowing red as he did.

Odds were the dust cloud would limit the mages vision as well, atleast of the fighters. But Deans Shingan didnt rely on sight, so what was there to blind?

As he entered the cloud, he jumped over the stumbling body of Ilias, withdrawing his sword, aiming it towards the right shoulder of Wilhelm.

Ilias stumbled backwards, blood dripping from his mouth. Although his strength was diminished, he could still feel the blade looming over his head clearly.

It was Deans. Ilias could tell well enough where him was aiming, judging from the trajectory of his blade.

Regaining his composure, he tosses a throwing knife into the fray, towards where Dean seemed to be headed.

It later occured to him that there was a fair chance that someone who wasnt using a blade stood between the mage, and his knife.

Not that he particulary cared. It wasnt his fault he couldnt see or sense them.

Also, Kekowa would have class 2 stamina, while raining them down like fireworks.

He'd be exhausted, Barely able to defend himself. Dean would be hurt, but I'd imagine he could move just fine.

And if he tags Kekowa, just *once* it's over.

EDIT: Either way, they are effective in different ways. Kekowa is the superstrong Blitzer, and Dean The Classic Brick. Deans stronger and More durable, and with Usui esque abilites, but Kekowa makes up for that with greater speed/agility, and versitility in chi.

And Intelligence I guess, but honestly, I'm not bothering with that until later. Dean has common sense, he dosnt need to be good at physics or anything.
