OOC: It's not really a question of how sleepy I am. I just sort of dislike sleep to the point where I'll subconsciously put off going to bed, sometimes for hours after my planned bedtime, no matter how tired I am.

Also, I'm naturally nocturnal, so I actually get less sleepy as the day draws to and end. My peak activity tends to be around midnight, in fact.

IC: Selma nodded to Natalie and turned to Ishii, rearing back her fist and swinging a flame-engulfed fist, connecting with Ishii's chin. The schoolgirl collapsed to the ground in a heap, Selma smiling and flashing a thumbs-up to Natalie.

Walking over to Natalie, Selma sat next to her and pulled her close, holding her as she kept an eye on Maxwell.

"Natalie, you may not believe it, but to me, it is worth the sacrifice of my own life to save yours. You've already done far more for me than I can ever hope to repay and are willing to do far more."

Sighing, Selma said "I just wish there was more I could do for you after everything you've done for me."

"How sweet..."

The shadows surrounding the two began to morph and swirl, transforming and reshaping itself as Maxwell's burned form disappeared into the darkness. Selma looked fearfully around them, noticing a multitude of blades made of darkness rapidly approaching them.

With a yelp of surprise, Selma did the only thing she could think: Pull Natalie close to her and turn away from the shadow blades. Closing her eyes tight and clenching her teeth, she grunted in pain as the shadow blades began cutting at her flesh.

Blood flowed from Selma's back, arms, and legs as more blades ripped her clothes and sliced her flesh. "Pl-please don't worry a-about me Natalie... Please..." Selma muttered through the pain, forcing a smile even as more cuts littered her body.

"Sounds like we're up next," Django said as he walked up to Rhia.

"Finally!" Rhia exclaimed. "You ready to kick some ass?"

Django chuckled. "Always, milady, always." Then he cocked his head and gave her a questioning look. "But before we go out there, I have to ask... Concerning that technique of yours, how many can you use now?"

"Gee," Rhia said, scratching her head. "All of them, I think."

Django's eyes went wide. "What, all five?"

"Well, theoretically, anyway," Rhia said. "I've only managed to test two, though, and this is hardly the best circumstances to start experementing."

"But you could, in fact..."

Rhia shook her head. "It may not come to that, for all we know. Two will have to do for now." She winked at him. "And hey, I may not need to use them at all. Lets keep some optimism."

Django smiled. "Of course."

Rhia thought about Alexia, about her parents, all her friends. They'd be watching her fight, watching her win... or loose. Though this should have made her nervous, it filled her heart with determination.

OOC; Xellos already got dumped on his ass (awesomely written, kudos to Dog) when he'd already started a convo with Nat. He's currently found Dr Bloodmoon and they should be just about back to the portal entrance location. Due to plot reasons, they're not going to break through until Selma and Nat have had their character development.

Natalie froze up, silent but for her trembling breath. Even as Selma's blood gushed onto her, she felt helpless to do anything but watch, horrified.

She held Selma back, silent casting a Spell-Shattering charm to dissipate the blades, but as this was Maxwell's realm only so much could be done. Again and again she cast the Zerutten spell, but all it served to do was cause Selma to bleed more as the blades slowly withdrew.

Tearing up, Natalie tried to hold her sobs, infusing them with instead anger, the desire to right this petty maleficence. Turning her head upwards, she spoke into the darkness.

"Why would you do this?! To avenge a loss? For amusment? How petty are you?!," she shouted as she slowly lay Selma on the floor. Natalie shivered for a moment, then withdrew a paper from her blouse.

"I have always been taught to find the goodness in others, to do all in my power to help them, no matter how futile, for that spark of humanity is what makes us all unique. But no, you don't think of yourself as human, do you. You think you are above the rest, using you powers to play with the world as you see fit."

She then slammed the paper onto the ground, an immediately a yellow sigil flooded the room with its light.

"Hierophant of the Great Spirit! The Thunderbird!"

Darkness consumed their eyes of, then a faint golden glow stirred the air. It increased in brilliance until a great flash illuminated the great Totem Spirit as the air ionized and crackled with energy.

Alexia got caught in the crossfire in the middle of a conversation and got jumpkicked by Xellos for the lulz :D

Darkness consumed their eyes of, then a faint golden glow stirred the air. It increased in brilliance until a great flash illuminated the great Totem Spirit as the air ionized and crackled with energy.

"Let us see if you truly are as masterful as you think you are, you coward!"

"A Totem Spirit..." Maxwell muttered from his hiding place, stunned by the sudden appearance of such a thing in his realm. But then a growl filled the air as the shadow blades and tendrils turned upon the Totem Spirit, ignoring the witch and mage for the time being to attack this newest intruder.

Thorned tendrils wrapped around its wings, neck and chest as great blades of darkness struck against any part of the being that it could touch, attempting to crush, to destroy the great Totem Spirit.

OOC: Ah, I just had an idea. Clone Alex 1 is understandably pissed at Xellos for alerting the teachers, so he receives permission from Jobberlex to smack the young mage up a bit. Once he's vented his rage, then he'll leave Xellos alone and continue harassing- I mean, persuading the royals to give in and choose part of the Anti-Arcadia Squad (or as they are officially called, Team Villain).

"I already knew from the resemblance he had to Rhia." Alexia admitted. "I felt his power, too. He's probably the only pure human that could take my father on and live."

NOTE: Key word here is "pure human". I'll talk about the other two heads of Clockworks later. Maybe I'll bring back a familiar face as a leader. :D

Still dizzy from her ordeal, Natalie looked up to the ring to find Django, standing alone with his guard up. It was a curious sight. Suddenly, a loud clashing of swords broke through the air, and an elf seemed to drop out of space.

Focusing her sight, she could scarcely trace two spiritual auras. Like the rest of Sylph dorm, one was human, yet something else - in this case, she guessed, some sort of creature from Alfheim. The other was Rhia.

"Somatic-based magic! Oh wunderbar! She figured it out!"

From where she sat she waved her hat about and shouted out cheers.

"One down!" Rhia said, turning to the oncoming Gwen. She parried the thrust from the spear and struck the half-elf with a kick that pushed her backwards. Rhia was mildly surpised to find that her foot ached somewhat from the impact. These girls are not as fragile as they look.

Gwen had been slowed down. Rhia flashed her a smile. "My turn!" And then she blurred out of sight again.

A split moment later a cry was heard: "Thunderstorm Cannon!" and a beam of electrifying chi descended from above.

Her hand began glowing a soft green, which spread over Selma's back. The cuts slowly closed, flesh mending until it appeared the wounds were never there to begin with.

Standing, she smiled as Selma groaned, sitting up and rubbing her head, asking "Wha' happened?" However, remembrance hit her as he eyes widened and she looked around, asking "Where's Natalie?! Is she OK? That guy didn't hurt her, did he?"

Unfortunately, Selma's execution was apparently too sudden, leaving both girls in some emotional turmoil. Though he'd hidden it well, there had been a gnawing guilt in the pit of his gut ever since.

While he could feel himself slowly falling more and more for Natalie, life was full of surprises. Should something happen that caused Natalie to reject him (He forced his mind to confront the possibility, though his selfish heart cried out in protest. No one wants to think of what bad things might happen, but that never stopped them from happening anyway), he prayed Selma would be successful on a subsequent attempt at romancing her.

Selma swallowed as she heard what Natalie wished to hear from her. Information that personal and emotional was a lot to ask from anyone, but Selma trusted Natalie.

Nodding, Selma gave her a small smile as she said "OK Natalie. First chance we get, I will tell you everything you wish to know."

Taking her bottom lip into her mouth, Selma chewed on it gently as she looked to Natalie. A familiar urge hit her, an urge she had already succumbed to twice, an urge that Natalie made near-impossible to refuse simply by being her.

The urge to kiss Natalie.

But Selma knew how uncomfortable that doing it made Natalie, so she chewed her bottom lip a little harder as she looked to the fight, hoping for the urge to pass.

'Maybe there was a grain of truth hidden within Maxwell's lies after all.' Selma thought bitterly.

It had been several hours since Dean had landed in the Crevice. The pitch black night sky had been replaced by the light blue sky of a new, and beautiful morning.

"Ugh." Dean muttered to himself, attempting to awaken. The fall had taken a greater toll on him than he thought, and it took him effort to even move, much less open his eyes. The weights did nothing to ease the strain.

After several minutes, Dean managed to open his eyes, and slowly rose to his feet. He winced in pain, from the injuries to his ribs.

Shit. I think I broke four of them. That bastard is going to pay for this Dean thought Grimly. This had stoped being fun ages ago. Now this bordered on suicidal.

Well, I guess I'd better get out of here. Dean looked up towards the entrance of the crevice.

Dean could see the opening of the crevice, and could see the blue sky beyond it. Dean could also see the miles of jagged stone wall seperating him from his goal.

Dean was silent for a moment, which seemed like an eternity, before he spoke.

"FUCK!!!!!" Dean yelled, looking towards the sky. This could not get any worse for him. It seemed as if God, or Odin, or whatever mean ass God the Old Nevadians worshiped, seem determined to make him suffer.

As Dean resigned himself to his fate, he walked toward dark brown walls of the Crevice, and prepared for the task at hand, despite its seeming impossibility.

"This is going to *suck*"

The wind blasted against Xing's face as he descended. He reflected on the what had brought him to this point.

He'd gone looking for Dean, and after a frantic search, had asked a strange old man if he knew where his idol was. The old man had pointed into the canyon, saying Dean had jumped to the bottom as part of his Old Nevadian training. Naturally, Xing followed after him, shouting a battlecry.

Thus it was that, nearly 10 minutes later, he saw Dean climbing the rock walls one handed. He called out,

"Dean-sifu! I've come to join in your training!"

He had just enough time to see Dean's astonished face before he crashed into him, sending them both hurtling into the ground in a tremendous explosion of rock and dust.

Summoning his ice magic, he created an ice ramp. Sliding along it till he was directly above and slightly ahead of Tamiko, he leaped as high as he could and unleashed a burst of mana, forming a huge ice dome which crashed dead centre over the girl, trapping her in there with Rhia and Justin, who hadn't gotten far despite her rejections.

He scribbled words over the top of the dome for its occupants:

Talk. No one can hear you, not even me. I'll release on Rhia's signal.

He then started skating swan lake while he waited for his captives to react.
