The light bend and started to twist, focussing itself in one illuminated area and twisting into various shapes, as if being traced by invisible hands. With a brilliant flash, they started to move faster and faster, until an intense array burned itself into a figure in the upper reaches of the library, in the fluorescent figure of Franer.

Natalie opened her eyes, then squinted at the sheer brilliance of the light, and as she blinked, it faded away.

"Essence...element...shift the element..."

Then she sensed a familiar psychic presence. It was Rhia. She stood and walked over to the balcony, and looked down at her.

"Oh, hi."

OOC: brb in a bit

OOC: Balcony? Down?

"Hey there," Rhia said. "Um, look, I just wanted to see if you're okay. And, well, tell you that you shouldn't let what that insensitive boob of a teacher said get to you." She frowned. "Really, what's wrong with that guy?"

"Anyway, I'm guessing you've probably already heard this from Selma and Tamiko and Xellos and Kagura and everyone else who stormed out after you... but if you feel like talking to someone, I'm right here for you. Okay?"

Henry, deciding that a long drawn out goose chase was not the best thing. Decided to contact Natalie upfront and confront her about her feelings.

'Natalie?' Henry said, sending a mental message.

"...sorry, I...don't often talk to women. Never bothered much," he muttered,"What did she say? I don't believe for a second Natalie would hate you, or anyone really."

Not unless they deserved it anyways.

The Demon King of Tokyo. Gang leader. Mob Boss. Feared warrior. An now, apparently, exercising his powers as a shrink. He knew how to play people, but not with them, and this made Kekowa feel very awkward

"Professor Kelly angered Natalie, who destroyed a table in anger and ran off. I tried to help her like your trying to help me, but she just seemed to get angrier and practically snarled at me to get away from her." Selma said.

"What would you say that is?" Selma asked, fire beginning to engulf her hands again as she spoke.

Xellos stepped to the large fireplace, where his practice would not harm the carpeting. As his experiences built upon each other, Xellos had felt his instinctive understanding of his magic increase. The creation of ice and fire were linked, generating and manipulating the very energy within each molecule. He had known this from the beginning, but only now was he truly starting to feel it.

He meditated, sensing the energy around him. He absorbed it from one point, ice forming in front of him. He released it at another, a ball of fire materialising behind him. He practiced forming larger and more complex shapes, testing his limits.

After his talk with Mr. Kelly, Xing realized something.

"Oh right, I promised that I'd teach Natalie how to control her Chi!" Then Xing looked around the room, and confused spoke to himself, "Hmmmm? She's not here. Oh well, looks like I'll need to go find her."

Hunter walked into the hallway to practice. He couldn't allow people to be hurt by his weaknesses, his carelessness. He took out the chunk of metal from his pack. He molded it with his magic, his alchemy, changing the shape and the strength of the thing into a strong disc. He began levitating it with his mind, moving it ahead of him and sending it flying all around throughout the hall. He formed a thick layer of ice over the disc so it would better absorb and cushion blows. Finally he brought up a weak psychic shield around the disc as a last means of defense. This would be a flying shield, used to help protect his fellow students from harm. But not himself, never himself. He would always send it in front of another student when an attack came their way.
Hunter took out his pocket knife. He stared at the small blade, bringing forth the energies of the air and his mind and body, taking matter from the dust in the air and focusing it all into the blade, transforming it into a short-sword.
Finally Hunter touched the strange talisman around his neck. A repellent to spirits and perhaps something more.
Hunter took out his copy of Tobin's Spirit Guide and held it in one hand, reading the chapter on summoning spirits. Even demons had ghosts, and there was one spirit he was looking forward to talking to.
"Astral plane, realm of ghosts and spirits. I'll see you again shortly, old Triumvirate, and I'll be looking for some answers," Hunter snarled before turning around and walking down the hall, the newfangled shield floating behind him.

OOC: She's on an upper floor of the library, both to get away and to find the right stuff. Sorry, my bad. Did it rather hastily :o

Natalie sighed.

"I just can't seem keep myself out of trouble or the worry of other people, ja?"

She slumped down, upset and rather tired emotionally and magically.

"Danke...I'm so sorry. Danke."

She opened another heavy leather bound volume: Cosmic Energy and Alignments - Writings on Psycho-Magnetheorics.

Kekowa listened, looking down at his shoes. When Selma finished, he looked back to her, staring into the space. Tongue tied, he looked back to the floor, struggling to find something to say.

She really feels like crap about this. Most women would start the waterworks, ne? But Selma isn't quite like the other girls. She can take it!

"Well, don't you ever feel like that?" he blurted, "When the world starts to piss down your neck, you just want to beat that son of a bitch up, don't you?"

He gazed around at the cold, blackened doors and the molten armors as for effect. His attention then immediately was brought to Selma's flaring hand.

"I think she was just in a...ah, nan desu ka...funk? That right? A funk? When there is so much bottled up and you don't know how to deal with it. Then the only thing you feel is that emotion. Maybe that's what she was going through."

Time paused. The dust from the air started to glow in the embers of Selma's hand.

"Hey, I got an idea," he said, as he stood tall and offered his hand to her.

"Hit me."

She had fought living thorns, repelled evil spirits, and even was separated from her body. Still, Natalie would never get used to the ease and grace of Rhia's physical feats. Astounded, she started back, then went back to her books.

"Just studying ja? Elementals and such, and the human spirit. Won't you take a seat?" she said, passing The Will To Power over to Rhia.

"As much as...'Lerher' Kelly is despicable towards the spiritual, especially one so great as Franer, son of Fenrir, who resides in this very stone, it saddens me to admit that he indeed has a point."

She sighed again.

"I don't think I know enough of this 'real world' he talks about, ja? Natalie Schroeder, 2nd level Acolyte of the Zeitgeist Sisterhood, for betterment and protection of human kind. Always falling, always failing, always needing saving."

"But, heh, my problems, I will have to face them on my own. I cannot drag half the student body into it every time. By the way, I saw you and Ramon practicing something earlier. Spiritual channeling, perhaps?"

"Too true. The ways I were taught are not the same as with Selma, Hunter, Peter or Ramon. I suppose Hunter's method is the closest to mine, but he draws from a different source altogether and..."

She looked across the table to Rhia's unblinking, startled eyes. Then Natalie gazed at the orb frozen into the table, then had an idea to starting Rhia on her way.

"The orthodox way, the old way of magic as I have been taught was to enter the astral plane and plead for a spirit's assistance. That takes a while to learn. Recently, I have discovered the basics of Ramon's theory, that one does not have to channel the spirit completely so much as shift the energies already around, ja?"

Natalie then opened the volume of the I Ching to the elemental Trigrams:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8e/Trigrams2.svg

"Of course, just as you cannot make words without letters, so you cannot channel magic without incantation. To make it easier for you, let's try an exercise! We will write the 'water' trigram, then channel Franer, the ice spirit in the Water Stone, into it."

She nodded, "consider this a basic rune!"

With a sigh, she continued "The only thing that might help is hitting Natalie. But I can't hit Natalie, even after that, because I still consider her a friend and because I..." She stopped herself before finishing the sentence.

After awhile of searching, Xing decided to utilize an easier method to find Natalie. Using his Chi Sense ability for the third time in the day, Xing was able to dedicate Natalie's chi. Another chi source was apparently quite close by to her. If his memory was correct, it was the dragon slayer from before.

Regardless, he had her approximate location, and that was something to work on. Climbing his way up to the library, Xing looked around for a few moments before saying, perhaps a little too quietly, "Natalie? Are you here?"

"Okay," Rhia said, feeling a bit uncertain. "What do I do?"

"Well, first let's make some water," Natalie started, rubbing her finger on the icy ball in the middle of the table until it began to ran. Wiping her hand off, she explained further.

"This is your 'source', what you will be moving. Oh and don't worry about energy for now, understanding matter for the time being will be beneficial, ja?"

She stood up, and walked to the far side of the table, and grabbed a discarded piece of chalk that happened to be on a bookshelf.

"Normally I would use a channeling circle, but we will try a somatic approach, ja? It is more direct as you like it."

She stooped and drew the trigram for water.

"To help focus the energy, the rune 'beckons' the water spirits? However, that will not work without energy. As far as I understand, this requires you to mix your own energy into it."

Natalie then breathed in, and, using a basic taichi movement that Wei had taught her ,focussed and breathed in as she explained.

"Feel the energy around and inside you...flow it into the rune...and then..."

At her feet, water began to drip, upwards, from the now glowing symbol, and collected into a spherical body in her hand. On the table, a section of the ice had disappeared

"...there! The water had moved! Now you try it"

OOC: I hope that made any sense at all. It's 2AM here and I'm running out of gas :D

How can I possibly get through to her in a way that she can let this out?

Picking up a piece of the discarded armor, he crumpled it in his hands with some effort and grinned.

"Don't worry about it, I can take it! Besides, those things don't hit back or have a human face. I dunno about Nat-chan, but Seru-san, you seem to be be bottling up something, ne?"

Puzzled, Natalie looked to Rhia, to the rune, and to Rhia again. She repeated the process through the rune herself, then did it again without the rune. She was stumped.

"Perhaps you need a conduit, ja? Do you have anything you may be able to channel through? I had a wand, but I need to fix that later."

She sat and drummed her fingers and spun a lock of her hair.

Better focussed since the ordeal with Kelly, Natalie's empathic powers began to pick up again, feeling something welled up inside Rhia.

She went through the motions, slowly controlling her chi with basic movements, and casting a faint breeze through Rhia's hair against the stale ventilation of the library.

"Okay, now you try it! Believe!"

"Okay!" Rhia said, again repeating Natalie's motions. "Acceptance and unity. I belive... I belive..."

Still nothing.

Rhia's shoulders slumped. "It's no use. All I get is a lot of magic swirling around inside my body." She looked down at her hands. "I don't know what it is you have that I don't but... I don't think this is going anywhere."

Natalie wasn't used to seeing Rhia in any stage of doubt or failure, especially since she was like everybody's big sister. She pulled her lips in and gave it some thought.

"Well, perhaps my methods aren't as refined. Truth be told, I only half understand the process of 'moving' elements and energy."

She flashed back to her lessons from Wei; a strong hand there to catch her and to guide her where she stumbled.

"...a conduit. You need a conduit! How about your sword?"

No answer.

"...something the matter?"

"Hm?" Rhia looked up, and seemed a bit embarassed. "Oh, I was just thinking about what you said before, about the real world..."

She sighed. "The truth is, I'm really in the same boat as you. I was raised under rather... sheltered conditions, you see. I was trained to face the world, perhaps, but I never ventured out into it."

She looked Natalie in the eyes. "We're really kinda alike, you and I. We both don't really know what we're getting ourselves into. And we both want to stand on our own, without needing the protection of others." She smiled. "But Natalie, I hope you're not making the same mistake I did. We aren't trying to look out for you because we think you are weak and helpless. You just... have something about you that makes everyone like you, I guess." She winked. "I don't know if you've noticed, but you've got something of a fanclub already. I should know; I'm in it."

"The point is, even if the world is big and dangerous, true might doesn't come from how many monsters you fight or how powerful techniques you use, but from the friends and family who's there to give you strenght." She put a hand on Natalie's shoulder. "And that's why I think you're the mightiest one here. I just want you to know that."

Xellos felt very tempted to add his own voice, but knew anything he said would detract from the moment. He might technically add more points, but the emotion Rhia generated should not be sullied by logic. So he just closed his eyes and smiled.

OOC: Kelly was very rude/insensitive to Natalie, who became very upset and turned a table into splinters, after which ran over to the library. Roughly half the class ran after, wanting to console her. She snapped at Selma, who is now all heartbroken over it and talking to Daichi. Rhia looked up Natalie for some magic training (which went bad) and for some comforting/bonding (the results of which remains to be seen.) Xellos is hanging around evesdropping outside the library, and the rest are still in the classroom, I think.

Meanwhile, Dean has brainwashed Xing into believing all the legends about Nevada he's been telling. Hunter has convinced Dean to try and reverse the process, but he wants to do it slowly to avoid traumatising Xing (he fainted after believing the tall tales).

"Yes... No... I don't know." Selma said, holding her head as she sat there, rubbing her temples.

"I made a horrible mistake by coming here. I should have just stayed in Yonkers, where all I had to worry about was trying to get my parents to acknowledge and love me and learn from my Sensei."

"I don't deserve to be here, and I must be stupid to think that I deserve to love or be loved by anyone." Selma muttered more to herself than to Tamiko, tears beginning to flow from her eyes again.

Kekowa had mixed emotions from the scene in the classroom. On the one hand, he had started to like Natalie. On the other hand, she really didn't know who she was talking to there. Sincerely, he had to smirk, but that left when three people ran out of the room after her.

He thought things were okay, until he heard several punching and pounding noises in the hall. He decided to slip out and investigate; after all, he felt that he owed Natalie his life from the incident with the Wyrm, and as the Demon King of Tokyo, his word was the primary law.

Well, he proceeded out, but found no sign of the little witch. He heard somebody crying, however, by a pile of shattered, molten armor. Kekowa sighed, and sat down next to her.

"Hey babe. You alright?"

Selma looked over to Kekowa and said "I'm fine, not that you really care. You're probably just looking for Natalie, whose in the library last I saw her. She'll probably be happy to see you, or anyone else whose not me."

"...shitsurei shimasu. Well, yes, I was looking for her, I admit that much."

Kekowa sat next to her amid the scattered armor, sighing in unision. Observant, he had seen Selma's expertise and ferocity in the fray. The girl next to him right now was as a crumpled doodle before a painting in comparison.

"Yare yare. Believe you me, I've had a brush with her. Haven't really talked to her much, but when she gets mad..." he noted, rubbing his forehead from the time she flooded his senses with spiritual visions beyond his comprehension,"...anyway, why do you cry, Sammy-chan?"

Selma looked over to Kekowa and said "My name's not Samantha, it's Selma." She then looked back at the floor before her and said "And since I've already given you her location, why don't you go see to Natalie."

"And for your information, I'm crying because Natalie apparently hates me. Though it shouldn't really surprise me, since it wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened to me." Selma said.

"Hit me."

Selma looked at his hand, then at him, giving him a look that seemed to question his sanity.

"Hit you? I can't hit you, you haven't wronged me in any way!" Selma said. Her eyes returned once more to the floor, the flames upon her hands slowly dying as she said "Besides, as you've no doubt seen, I've already tried hitting things."

With a sigh, she continued "The only thing that might help is hitting Natalie. But I can't hit Natalie, even after that, because I still consider her a friend and because I..." She stopped herself before finishing the sentence.

Instead, she clenched her eyes shut and said "... I just can't."

Kekowa stood stumped once again.

No no...she's a combat magician or something like that. How can I make that squishy heart as hard as her skin?

A bit of a pause, then Kekowa continued.

"So! What's your style?"

"My... style? You mean my combat style?" Selma asked before answering "It's Gouken."

An eyebrow raised as she looked at Kekowa and asked "Why?"

Tamiko handed Selma a bottle of water, "I'm sorry it took so long, but I thought you could use some water. If you ever need to talk, just let me know." giving her a sympathic, friendly smile.

Looking at Kekowa, "Thank you."

Natalie shrugged her shoulders, then removed her hat. She had some doubt about her about the artifact she was to destroy, but then, saw Alexia and remembered her strength in her denial of the very thing that would likely cure her ailment. She sighed and began, though a knot welled up inside her.

"The Grand Master has come into possession of the Ring of Will. I think that was also Atlantean, ja? Surely one as esteemed as you would know of it. The Grand Master saps his will in his sanctum to guard the Ring, as you guard the Stone."

The next part is where the knots exploded into stomach butterflies. She didn't want to damn the Ring for all of its promise, but Natalie had to be honest.

"Such power cannot be weilded by humankind. Channeling spirits has been a cornerstone of our belief, but the potential to twist the planes to one's will may lead inevitably to its usage of a weapon. Were the Grand Master a less enlightened individual, he could be making war and dominating the planet."

She thought of Kelly briefly, still bitter over his callous disrespect of the spirits.

"My friends and I have come a long ways, even securing the four Elemental Stones for the purpose of banishing this ring. I cannot speak for them all, but Franer, son of Fenrir, the noble guardian who struggled against his lineage, entrusted us with his duty when he passed on. I humbly request on behalf of all of us, that you may loan us the Spirit Stone so we may cast the Ring where none may touch it, for it is absolute power easily corrupted to our weak minds."

Depends on what you want to try and best him at. Ramust hought of a challenge. "I had an idea.but idk if I could use it..I feel up to speed for it"

"Alright, if we each get to make our own challenge, then I shall challenge you to a friendly game of Chutes and Ladders," Hunter said. It requires no talent or skill, so him and I and any other student who joins us will have an equal chance at victory. I know the game very well, and I do consider myself extremely lucky at games...maybe not lucky in life but games I'm like friggin Trump. "Who all wants to play a child's board game?"

Hunter stared up at the ceiling. "We are not even yet old man!" Hunter shouted at God. Great, more problems.

Natalie raised her hand to ask a question.

"Will there be time to prepare? And how will this tournament work?"

Kekowa sat, winded from the sprint, having been outpaced by Ramus, Sirius and the Dorth by quite a bit.

"Hah...hah...yeah, we need time to train, dammit!"

Dorth laughed, and, with a burst of speed, zoomed ahead of them and into the portal, followed by Ramus, Selma, and the rest.

Mourn and Anselm greeted them and took the Spirit Stone and placed it on the Idol of Oroboros. The Idol then repaired it'self and began glowing with a errie, white light as the Stone stayed fused with it.

"Well done, students. The Idol's fixed now. It, the Spirit and Elemental Stones will now be given over to the Grand Master, who will craft them into an object capable of sealing away the Ring. Anselm will help him."

Anselm nodded, smiled and waved at the group, then trotted away into a smaller portal with the artifacts.

"Now, teh time has come for the Tournament. However, things have changed on us. Two more dorms have joined in, making it 8 in all. These two dorms had split away from Arcadia some time ago, but upon hearing about what winning the Tournament here means, they've applied and been granted the right to come back to Arcadia. Now we have the Shadow Dorm and Sun Dorm to contend with aswell, both of which we know next to nothing about."

"That's nice," Django said, scratching his chin. "So, when exactly is this tournament? Will we have any time to train and prepare ourselves first?" There was a certain edge to his voice, but the constant time-shifts was starting to get on his nerves.

Natalie covered her mouth in awe and delight.

"You did it!"

Kagura sighed in relief.

Dorth then smiled sadly, and, with a gesture, banished the small house and two trees, leaving Dean and Kekowa sitting the groun before them where the house had previously stood.

"Well, no need for that any more. Ohh, you lot better get back. Time moves drastically fast here. If you don't get back, you'll miss your Tournament."

"Speaking of which, mind if I hitch a ride with you? I wouldn't mind seeing how well you perfom myself."

Hearing this she tensed up again. Are we ever going to actually learn anything here? She thought irritably to herself.

"The fights will be Dorm vs Dorm. A random drawing will see which student fights which student. The winner then fights the next challenger from the team. A Dorm wins when they still have students standing. So if Dean here beats his first challenger, he'll have to face the next challenger. If he loses to the second challenger, someone on our side will step up to take them on instead. Understand?"

"Here are the number of students in each Dorm: Dragon has 20, as you all know, Lion has 17, Phoenix has 13, Wolf has 12, Shadow apperently has 12, Slyph has 10, we've been told Sun has 8, and Norn has only 6 students."

Lord alone knows what Shadow and Sun use as criteria. Slyph, like the name suggests, only recruits Half-Breeds and other hybrids, and Norn is the only all female class, though we jave no idea just what they specialize in.
