Suddenly smoke and a jet of fire shot out of one of the abandoned buildings with a loud *SNAP*. Natalie stepped out from the doorway.

"I can see nothing too strange so far, but for the clouds, which seem to be the wake of some sort of magical being. But for now, we are all cold; I have made a fire, over there, in what was a bakery."

Portal 4, Fire Stone Quest:

The portal dropped the students in front of a large, yawning cavern, 50 feet tall and 50 feet wide. Behind them was a thick, ancient forest, easily towering over most Sequioa's. The cavern it'self was almost pitch black, making it incredibly hard to see into.

Natalie threw a pastry she found on the shelf towards Hunter's feet, which landed with an uncharacteristic thud.

"Lunch was good, I ate a steak. And a chicken breast. I also attempted to eat a salad, didn't work out so good," Hunter said. "I ate standing up though, kept sitting on my tail every time I tried to take a seat. It'd probably work out better if I had a tail hole in my pants or something. But these are expensive pants. Actually, all my clothes are. God I hate the cold."

"Now you can sit down for the first time today," she lauded,"By the way, though my Astral Eyes don't see anything much within this village, I do see some presence up on the mountains. But in this snowfall, which seems to be magically induced, it wouldn't be the best to travel. Though, I know you too have altered perception, Hunter. Are there any demonic energies about?"

OOC: On an unrelated note, is Cleric going to handle four 'bossfight' dialogues at once? Thats gonna be some insane typing, hope he has some major spare time coming up.

"Not that I can sense...well, no more than anywhere else. Dark spirits seem to be like light spirits I think. There's a couple or so in just about any geographic area. But nothing harmful is here that I can sense."

Xellos stuffed some of the bread in better condition into his pockets. He really should do some take-away from the school buffet if they get sent out again.

Bread gets mouldy when it goes bad. If you freeze it, it lasts a helluva long time, and this place is really cold. I'll heat it up when its needed.

He scanned the interior of the room,

"We've got a choice. We can use some of the wood here as torches. They'll keep us warm and help us to see as we progress through the village, but we're sure to be noticed ourselves. Or we can keep cold and hopefully keep stealthy. What do you guys want?"

"We'll need light if it get's too dark, but otherwise we should keep stealthy whenever it's bright enough to see. We don't know what's out there, but after our last few fights I don't think we should attract unwanted attention. If there's old bread and such here, maybe there's some clothing or blankets we can find and use to, ya know, wear layers to keep warm," Hunter stated.

As you sat in the warming bakery, a howl, very much unlike teh wind, tore through the town, instatntly sending a quick shot of terror (yes, this is an attack of sorts) through all preent.

Team 2:

The odd trees where indeed, magical in nature. Still, looming before the group, they formed a wall of the unknown.

As they were catapulted through/over the trees by Ramon, they descended about 200 yards in, landing in a small clearing. In the clearing, a small, wayside praying shrine lay in ruins, its patron spirit statue broken.

Team 3:

The two statues never moevd as the group passed between them and up to the temple door.

Inscribed in the door was this phrase:

Speak ye, friend, and pass.

Django's burning brand blade swept away soem of the darkness as you entered the cavern. As you descend into the darkness, the torch lite alights upon a skeleton wearing what looks like medieval style armor, rusted as all heck. A sword lay by it's hands, dropped in death. Through the rusted armor was a giant wound (going into and through the ribs), as if some giant spear had punctured right through it.

We're by far the fastest members of the team, so if there's any danger, we have a better chance of reacting to it in time. Dean and Peter takes the vangaurd. You two will have to watch our backs." She looked at Peter. "Pete, your main strenght is your gravity magic, but unfortunately this cave may not be able to handle your spells, so you'll mostly have to rely on your sword."

"Wasn't exactly the way I would've thought that we'd be getting through this, but I suppose it works."

Xing stood on his tip toes, to take a better look at what lay ahead. A small shrine, a broken statue. Xing had to admit, the place felt inauspicious on that alone.

"Captain, I'm just going to scan this forest for a moment. For some reason, I doubt this shrine got in the condition it is in now by itself."

Pausing for a few moments, Xing once again began scanning their surrounding area.

Xellos barked. He rushed to a window and swung his supply bag onto the roof. He clambered out after it for a better vantage point and found Sirus already there, straining to find a target.

As the team gathered, Xellos whispered.

"Sirus, if a threat comes, make sure Henry is safe while he links us. Henry, break the link for a moment. See if you can sense any foreign minds nearby."

Xelloss' powers, and more importantly his understanding of his powers had developed over the course of his last mission. Fire came just as easily as ice now, as he began to feel the ebb and flow of the enrgies that made each possible. In these snowy mountains however, his ice powers were amplified. His new staff deployed from his palm as he scanned the buildings around them.

Django's burning brand blade swept away soem of the darkness as you entered the cavern. As you descend into the darkness, the torch lite alights upon a skeleton wearing what looks like medieval style armor, rusted as all heck. A sword lay by it's hands, dropped in death. Through the rusted armor was a giant wound (going into and through the ribs), as if some giant spear had punctured right through it.

Of course he realized it might have been silly to talk to a door like so, but he had experienced weirder events since arriving at the Academy.

Team 1:

As you sat in the warming bakery, a howl, very much unlike teh wind, tore through the town, instatntly sending a quick shot of terror (yes, this is an attack of sorts) through all preent.

"On the roof now!"

Xellos barked. He rushed to a window and swung his supply bag onto the roof. He clambered out after it for a better vantage point and found Sirus already there, straining to find a target.

As the team gathered, Xellos whispered.

"Sirus, if a threat comes, make sure Henry is safe while he links us. Henry, break the link for a moment. See if you can sense any foreign minds nearby."

Xelloss' powers, and more importantly his understanding of his powers had developed over the course of his last mission. Fire came just as easily as ice now, as he began to feel the ebb and flow of the enrgies that made each possible. In these snowy mountains however, his ice powers were amplified. His new staff deployed from his palm as he scanned the buildings around them.

That feeling again. Natalie had felt it during the forest gambit, and in the interim her empathic powers had only grown further sensitive. Though warmed, she was chilled to the bone by that harrowing shriek and started backward. Searching with her Astral Eyes once again, the air, one clear, was now filled with the residual energies of some sort of dark enchantment.

It seemed even Xellos, usually cool and collected, had been startled by this, as he began barking orders to move on out of there to the rooftop. Though the snowfall had only become denser, the panic shooting through Natalie let her for follow without question, using the Astral Avatar to leap after the rest of the group.

As Sirius and Henry had spotted no targets, Natalie too failed to perceive anything, but for the power Xellos was drawing from the environment.

"The snow! It is magical!" she shouted over the howling winds and blizzard,"

The howl came again, this time, the Ice Terror was stronger. The attack, a mixture of psionic and magical energies, struck them a hammer's blow, trying to get into their minds.

The winds grew louder and chiller, a deafening pitch following an invisible force that threatened to knock them off their footing. Natalie looked every which way to find just where this was coming from.

Then a maleficent force began to dig into her mind, digging away her defenses. Though the Avatar would shield her body from the physical effects, the psionic aspects were on a different wavelength entirely. Buckling under the struggle, she could only hope her teammates were faring better, for the only thing she could do now was a rhythmic, if laboured, breathing to focus her chi into casting a counter spell.

Team 2: Your senses pick up scattered animal life that is unknown to Xing and Daichi, but don't seem threatening. There does seem to be a lingerng Chi pattern on teh broken statue, however, as if something lingered tehre or had just moved on.

As you descend further into the cavern, you find more and more skeletons, all in rusted armor and with rusted/broken swords. After an hour of walking, you count as many as 100 skeleton's, each with a medieval style armor and weapons.

OOC: Since Kholdhearted isn't online, as stated earlier I'll be RPing the savage brothers. Due to the difficulty with 3 characters though, Vakanai, GrandpaGen, feel free to make use of them.

Trying her utmost to focus, the psionic pain was nerve racking, and it was hard to counter attack anything if the target was for the moment invisible. The only lead was...

Psionic threads...the will of the spirit...somehow, the life energy is linked to the...

Blinded by rushing thoughts and pain, Natalie stumbled forward a few paces, then attempted a spell to dissipate the will of this ice entity. Raising her hands, she grounded herself, and through her avatar, directed a hybrid spiritual-psionic spell in the area directly in front of her in an attempt to scatter the linkage between minds.

Its so far away. Somehow it knew where we were. It could be luring us into a trap.

Sirus nodded, disappearing in a flash.

With the threat located, Henry mindlinked the group without being asked to, extending a measure of psychic protection to Sirus and Xellos, who lacked anything beyond willpower to defend themselves psionically. Hopefully, it would last long enough for them to engage the beast.

Xellos directed the thought at Henry, who complied. He turned to Hunter and Natalie

I'm taking him to the outskirts. Both of you meet him there and catch up.

Xellos carried Henry to the outskirts of the village, making it easier for him to remain linked with all group members. Then he set him down to wait for the others to catch up.

He continued running through the mountainous wilderness, then leapt into the air. Concentrating his magical in his lower limbs, he formed an ice board at his feet. He landed sliding, almost frictionless as he sped towards his target.

Through the link, he sensed Hunter take to the skies and Natalie meet with Henry.

Sirus skipped across the snow, his feet barely leaving imprints.

He cleared a crest as he reached his destination, readying himself to retreat.

Sirius suddenly re-appeared by Xellos and Henry, breathe streaming from him as he panted. He pointed behind him, then got into a stance, turning around, ready to confront what looked like a wave of snow coming their way at hig hspeeds.

"He's coming! He uses the snow as cover!"

OOC: Henry is behind the rest of the group. I stopped piggy backing him once we reached the outskirts of town. he and Natalie are approaching on foot. I'm second, and hunter is third since he's flying.

An underground beast likely has very long claws on its forearms. Beware.

Xellos stopped at a snowcapped peak as he sensed the beast below, burrowing through the snow like a frenzied mole. He contemplated the problem for a couple of seconds before his eyes lit up in anticipation.

Hunter, direct whatever fire you can into that area. Melt the snow into water!

As he directed the thought, he himself sent a stream of flame from his hands across the snow cap, sending an avalanch down towards where the beast was tunneling. He followed, surfing down the mountain till it crashed with the watery layer below.

Even before the slide stopped, he channeled his freezing powers into the snow.

Water + snow = Ice. With a little bit of me helping along, you'll be trapped in the world's biggest artificial ice cube!

Like 12 fire bullets are going to work. Efficiency is key, two bullets. "Oil Shot!" Hunter shouted, firing a giant web of oil into the monster's area. "Fire Blast!" Hunter said while firing another shot. A little bit of oil and one Fire Blast can go a long way.

Natalie had trudged through the snow on foot for several minutes when she finally met Henry, Hunter having left her far behind in the blizzard. Off in the distance, she saw a giant plume of flame shoot skyward, and from even where they stood, they could feel the warmth of the blast.

OOC: Henry is behind the rest of the group. I stopped piggy backing him once we reached the outskirts of town. he and Natalie are approaching on foot. I'm second, and hunter is third since he's flying.

BTC:

An underground beast likely has very long claws on its forearms. Beware.

Xellos stopped at a snowcapped peak as he sensed the beast below, burrowing through the snow like a frenzied mole. He contemplated the problem for a couple of seconds before his eyes lit up in anticipation.

Hunter, direct whatever fire you can into that area. Melt the snow into water!

As he directed the thought, he himself sent a stream of flame from his hands across the snow cap, sending an avalanch down towards where the beast was tunneling. He followed, surfing down the mountain till it crashed with the watery layer below.

Even before the slide stopped, he channeled his freezing powers into the snow.

Water + snow = Ice. With a little bit of me helping along, you'll be trapped in the world's biggest artificial ice cube!

Through the psychic rapport, she had heard Xellos' intention.

I'm not sure if that is the best idea. Being magical, it could very well function without the natural need for liquid water, and it is still a powerful psychic!

Natalie sighed. She was so far behind right now. She turned to Henry and said.

"Maybe we should wait a while, ja?"

Standing over 10 feet tall, and 15 feet long, was the biggest snow white wolf they had ever seen. The eyes, errily intellegent, peared at them as it's mouth opened, reavealing three inch long fangs.

The roar was piercing once again, sending a psionic shockwave rippling through space. Though through ordinary eyes they could see nothing, Natalie and Henry bith possessed extrasensory perception on two different wavelengths, and either way, this was extremely bad.

"Mein Gott! Henry, we're going!"

Subtlety being forgone, Natalie expanded the Astral Avatar in the physical plane, and used its amorphous makeup as a makeshift three-legged walker, carrying Henry beside her.

Or he could just roll over. I have low end durability, a good ton or so of wolf on top of me is what I would consider fatal, Hunter telepathed Xellos. And I hadn't exactly given up hope on calming him down and making peace until you shot him with ice! Then Hunter redirected his thoughts to the wolf, that jackass is Xellos. I apologize for his actions. He won't attack again unless you attack first. Please don't attack, I like wolves and I think we could go into an awesome partnership still.

As Daichi picked up the knife, he was blown backward by a blast of electricity. The knife then began glowing as it hoevered into the air. A shadowly form began forming around the knife.

It was a Red Dragon, easily 75 feet long, 30 feet tall, and 15 feet wide. It flapped into the air, over the group, in all it's magnificent, primal, glory.

After avoiding the Russian police, the two traveler's made their way through raging snow, and blistering cold towards the city of St.Petersburg.

"I think we have found what were suppose to find" Jason said as he looked up at a large stone statue of an ancient warrior.

"You better be right about this...Don't want to hear that this long trip to this god awful land was for nothing" Robert said as he walked up to the old statue. Upon looking at it, his eye's noticed the large patches of rust, and pigeon excrement that covered it all over. He also noticed some graffiti painted on the head, and high neck area.

"Why dose this thing look so familiar?" Robert asked.

"I think it's that guy who runs Arcadia" Jason said as he looked closer at the statue. "The place were Kelly is......."

He was interrupted when Robert raised his hands. "I know who he is, the question is why did the clue lead here?" he asked.

The two continued to look around, hoping to find some more clues.

OOC: Unfortunately, since we all know we are in the presence of fellow nerds (anyone who's in this forum has to be at least a little nerdy), so any physical contact whatsoever between males/females and females/females will be interpreted as flirting. Thanks to violent harem anime, we can even interpret Rhia jump kicking Dean as 'hitting on one another'.

This has not been helped by

a. The almost yuri scene between Alexia and Natalie

b. the general lack of discipline among us to take things at story pace. We don't know how long we'll each be able to continue in the RPG, so we tend to cram everything unrealistically fast.

c. This perception is mostly accurate anyway.

In the middle of teh room is a tomb, and right behind it, carved into teh wall, is a giant relief of what looks like a stone giant.

Have you not been paying attention? He thinks we are dirty rotten grave robbers. He froze my feet. Unless I start shooting him in the snout I fail to see how I can escalate the situation. I merely told him we did not want to fight, he should not judge us to quickly, and I kindly pointed out it would not be in his best interest to fight us. I still feel guilty over the spinx, I do not wish to kill this beast. I remained calm, I spoke as eloquently as I felt the situation called for.
