But then he found himself remembering the dark-skinned puppet, the one that had seemed displeased with his prescence.

Of course, there were also the tales of their extinction which were horribly varied. Some said that the Nevadians, desiring a true challenge, insulted the gods and thus brought their own destruction upon themselves. Other sources claimed that the Nevadians, realizing that their battle lust could not be fulfilled on the weaker tribes of the time, made war unto themselves.

All of this, Mumyou was about to point out until Natalie warned him:

Dean skidded to a stop, not fifteen feat away, the air between him and his friend becoming filled with sut.

"What the hell do you mean why am I here?!" Dean shouted, clearly irritated as his friends aloof attitude, "The question is what the hell are you doing here in the first place?!"

He wiped his brow, thick with presperation from the swealtering heat, "Stealing the ring, pulling your little dissapearing act--Have you lost your fucking mind?! Cut this shit out, and let's go back..."

Even as Dean said these words, he had a sneaking suspicion that it would take more then a few words to convince Xing to abandon whatever insane idea he had...

"Friends.Don't.Shout.At.Each.Others." Xing hissed, stressing each word with contemptuous annoyance, "But then, perhaps it is my mistake to call you a friend, for you wouldn't be here sprouting such nonsense as you are now."

Xing fiddled with the ring in his hands, playing with it as if it were a delicate toy. He was truthfully bemused from knowing how something so small could contain so much power.

But what did it matter? It was his now. Everything he needed would come from this.

Damn the consequences, and what not. A weak chance was better than no chance.

Not that anyone but himself and the Healer would appreciate this manner of thinking. And perhaps, he might have given what accussations he'd expect from those that would bemoan his 'betrayal' more thought had he not believed the actions of those very people not so laced with lies and hypocrisy.

Dean Gaitlin, a man whom he had both respected and cared for was no exception.

It, was however, bad form to not be looking at someone you were speaking to. And Xing, lovely paragon of honesty and justice that he was turned to look at Dean.

There was something appaling about how Xing looked. He appeared to be in perfect health, but there was something dangerous the way he looked up and down Dean.

The unsettling smile he wore on his face did not help matters. It was not downright maniacal, but simply the manner his lips curved across his face would have been enough to inform most that Xing was not of healthy mind.

"So, is this the part, 'friend'?" Xing leaned forward in a mock bow, arms spread open, "Where you tell that if I stop mucking about, we'll be able to stop Lilith and everything's gonna end with a 'happily ever after' for everyone."

"Except for me."

"Don't tell me lies, Gaitlin. I'm tired of lies. Because that's all I seem to be able to be trusted with the past month, you know?" A disturbing chuckle escaped his lips, "'You're going to be alright, Xing.', 'We'll do everything we can to help you, Xing.', 'Xing, don't lose hope.', 'Awwww, man up, kid! All you're gonna do is die!!! No pressure, eh?'"

Another laugh, and Xing continued, "Daichi said that last one to me. Though I guess he did have the right to say it. Oaf being able to interfere with our lives beyond the grave and all." Then, allowing his face to harden, he spoke abit more seriously, "So what is it going to be, Dean? What will you do with me?"

Kekowa sniffled "When I was in Tokyo as you know I snapped, when they kidnapped my friends and slashed teh eye of my former girl I was bloodlusted. Somethign happened in my mind. It told me It was ok to kill as long as that person threatened my friends and family."

He rested his head on Forte's shoulders his helmet startign to sag off "And When I realized Terraius kidnapped Daichi...my son and only blood in this world I snapped, and vowed to end his life. I came so close..." he remembered teh fight and all that he did "I wanted to kill him so bad its like someone else took over my body." he fought back a tear "Then when I tried to talk to Tami she shunned me. Ive grown fond of her and tyhought we could eb good friends and maybe more...but she turned from me and went into Justin's arms she saw my monster side. Maybe I am becoeming a monster."

He sighed "I cannot live with that."

Both eyes looked to the heavens, a faint sense of relief felt. Turning to Kasumi and Mai, he gave a soft smile, "It's up to you nurture and protect this world. Kasumi, give this to your mother." With that he tossed an object at her which would turn out to be the eye patch he had worn. "It probably won't be enough for the clothing, but it seems we don't have enough time..."

Raising a hand in farewell, he planted one tip of his staff against the ground before extending it and transporting himself to the portal within the heavens.

Natalie scanned the warp above, trying to get a sense of its magical nature, or where it would go.

Not so much for the destination of the portal - she hadn't a clue - but the ominous looming presence above seemed risky. And yet a number of her friends were all but ready to take their chances.

Drawing her fingers down to the brige of her nose in a stressed pinch, she tightened her eyes as she looked over helplessly to the company of the Grey Dragons.

Both eyes looked to the heavens, a faint sense of relief felt. Turning to Kasumi and Mai, he gave a soft smile, "It's up to you nurture and protect this world. Kasumi, give this to your mother." With that he tossed an object at her which would turn out to be the eye patch he had worn. "It probably won't be enough for the clothing, but it seems we don't have enough time..."

Raising a hand in farewell, he planted one tip of his staff against the ground before extending it and transporting himself to the portal within the heavens.

Xellos teetered about the edge of the portal, picking a stylus down on his PDA before looking toward Dr. Savage and Queen Rhia.

So much death and anguish in light of their victory, he couldn't help but fumble over his words.

Sheepishly, he smiled, albeit somewhat coldly, at the two.

"Like old times, huh?"

Dr. Savage nodded, then looked at Xellos sternly.

"Take care of them, no matter what, Xellos."

The queen nodded aswell, and offered a small smile to the younger version of her now dead friend.

"Be careful, Xellos. They'll need your clear head in the coming darkness."

"Inoculate the survivors, put down the rest of the Ether forces. Then once that's done, those on the citadel and the moon deserve to awake to a bright future."

Snapping his fingers, he conjured an organic ice rose and tossed it to Rhia. Then whistling to himself, he stepped through the portal.

He thought about how Qui Lan had sacrificed everything to give him this incredible power. He thought about his master in Japan, Kenkushu Shinimei, who taught him great skill and strength and who Kekowa proved he was stronger than.

He ment it in his mind he told himself he would do anything, even if it ment seppuku to regain his lost honor.

Selma watched Natalie hug her elder counterpart, feeling an all too familiar tug on her heartstrings. A small smile graced her lips as the scene played out before her, not noticing the elder Maxwell walking up beside her.

He placed a metallic hand on her shoulder as he said "I know others have told you this, but don't give up. She does love you, but you need to prove yourself strong enough to weather the storms such a relationship could bring."

Selma nodded, still feeling this Maxwell was odd compared to the one she was used to. Turning, she gave him a quick hug before walking away toward the portal, Natalie, and elder Selma.

Maxwell blinked before a smile crossed his face, giving a small wave to her retreating form. So much like their Selma, yet still so different.

Mumyou was about to gasp. Makoto-sensei had told him much about the Nevadians. An exceedingly powerful race that were said to possess abilities even the strongest fighters would envy.

Of course, there were also the tales of their extinction which were horribly varied. Some said that the Nevadians, desiring a true challenge, insulted the gods and thus brought their own destruction upon themselves. Other sources claimed that the Nevadians, realizing that their battle lust could not be fulfilled on the weaker tribes of the time, made war unto themselves.

All of this, Mumyou was about to point out until Natalie warned him:

Kekowa reminds me of two things, now that I think about.

Yukimaru, the Ninja from Disgaea two, who's always threatenting Spekku, but never does for one reason or another and......

The Shinsengumi. The group had, among other, these rules.
1. If the leader of a unit is mortally wounded in a fight, all the members of the unit must fight and if needed, die on the spot.

2. Even in a fight where the death toll is high, it is not allowed to retrieve the bodies of the dead, except the corpse of the leader of the unit.

The punishment for disobedience was ritual suicide. Another rule was, "If a Shinsengumi member engages in a fight with a stranger, be it on duty or not, if he is wounded and can't kill the enemy, allowing him to run away, even in case of a wound in the back, seppuku is ordered."

I'm of the opinion, Kekowa needs to be even more of a hardass. Cause that'll just be awesome.

Hmm...oddly enough I'm not sure if any of the characters I have would be interested in the voodoo magic man. Probably Natalie would be the closest, but only out of outrage for dark shamanism.

A warp in time and space appeared in the sky above the ruins of New York. Queen Rhia and Dr. Savage looked at one another, then at the group.

"Looks like your ride is here."

Drawing her fingers down to the brige of her nose in a stressed pinch, she tightened her eyes as she looked over helplessly to the company of the Grey Dragons.

Wei Fu returned with the tea, giving the other three a fresh cup. Levi pulled out an ancient scroll from the box. Upon opening it, the ancient text began to glow, filling his mind with various images. Like fragments of a movie, they seemed out of place and confusing.

Kun began, "It began long ago, when the gods and demons roamed the land, a warrior by the name of Wei lived as a protector of a small village. Though no one is certain if Wei was his clan name or not, it is certain that he was our ancestor. One day while taking care of a current surge of demons, he was confronted by a foreign demon. During the fight, he was cursed by the foreign demon with a plague. The demon's dying words told him that should any of his blood kin reach the warrior's level, they would receive the same..." With a sigh, he looked to Levi then Mai, "As much as we sought to avoid it, it seems you two have heard the call that I ignored..."

Levi closed his eye, contemplating on what had transpired. He had no doubt that he would eventually have to deal with this. It was then he decided that he would seek out anything relating to this demon or plague in the morning...

The two tares in space and time close after the last student enters them.

A twisting vortex of blackness fills their minds, bodies, and vision until they are finally, rather rudely, dumped back on the lawn of Dragon Dorm. The nexus above them closes, revelaing a grey overcast sky.

Kekowa shifted his gear and armor and looked around, suddenly a ghostly voice whispered in his ear "Glad too see you back Kekowa"

Kekowa looekd up and saw the spirit of Musashi hanging over him 'Musashi? Why teh hell wherent you sucked in with the rest of us?" The wise samurai laughed "You have much still to learn about the ways of spirits. We are tied to this plane even though I have bonded with your soul I cant leave this plane."

Kekowa got up and shrugged "Yes grandfather I suppose your right. He examined the area "IS thsi really Arcadia?"

HE looked around to see if teh memorial's he built for Valeria and Daichi stood.

Dean Gatlain, by contrast, didnt return to the earth with the same errie grace that Julien did, practially gliding towards the ground like a feather caught in a gentle breeze.

Infact, if Dean could be compared with anything, It would be a rock.

Wow Deans eyes narrowed slightly in surprise, it was hardly an incredibly shocking moment.

Surprising? Sure.

But after getting mauled by a spirit...ghost....thing, Dean just didnt tend to be as in awe of spirits as he could be.

Well, until Musashi decided to appear as a giant Katana. In which case Dean would be both shocked, and slightly worried.

"Miyamoto.....I know that name from somewhere..." Dean said quietly, attempting to recall several of Adams teachings.

He could recall Mushashi was a being of great, almost epic, Importance. He was famous for.....Making errotice novels? No......

Atlast, Deans eyes lit up, as he recalled where he had heard the name. "Oh! Your the guy who made Zelda, right? Nice to meet you! I'm a big fan."

...Although, I thought he was still alive...Man, I need to start watching the news more often...And I always thought he'd be in a business suit. Those Japansese are hardcore.

His hand moved and grabbed tthe unguarded end of his kodachi sheath ready to draw one. "Grandfather..."Kekowa whispered

"Yes Kekowa?" Musahsi said curious, still invisable to everyone save Natalie and Dean

"Distract her." Musashi bent down "Umm Kekowa in case you havent noticed...Im dead not much I can do."

Kekowa whispered harsly "Send a chill down her spine, do some mojo something!"

He moved across teh field unseen and ran a hand into and down Mithisar's head and down her back, sendign intense cold and dred into her.

While she was distracted Kekowa took a shot "Omiyo Hasshi!" HE threw oen of hsi Kodachi as fast and as strong as he could aiming for teh mirror

"Syn was a bafoon who's arrogance allowed his defeat. It is to Grinthorn I owe my allegance, and it is to hsi will that I do these things."

Xellos blinked twice and looked over to Natalie, whose fists were balled in fury.

"Well, that's different. I had no idea that a metaphysical concept could very well come into conscious being," he said.

"Magic, Xellos," Natalie said bluntly with a hint of humor,"and of a differing origin as well. I'm sure you can testify that nothing is truly impossible."

"Ah. Touche," he shrugged.

Janos lifted his good arm into a blaze of energy as he slowly made his way back up, though still racked with pain. He looked around to the rest of the group, dismayed and quite very livid.

"Making ransom of an entire island...all on orders from an almighty who doesn't give a crap enough to do it himself, huh," he glowered as he stepped forward.

"Flash Freeze!"

At once a great body of ice gathered over Mithisar, compressed into a great column, leaving her diminutive figure but a shadow in the frost

"Vernichtung!"

Within the ice, a feild of negation energy wrapped around the Prime, sapping her magical and psionic energies (-23 each)

However, she did raise her hand.

Kekowa's kodachi stopped, then went backwards and impaled Kekowa in both his shoulders. Kekwoa himself was flung backwards by the power of Mithisar's TK wave and was smashed into a tree. The two blades bit into the tree, effectively pinning Kekowa there.

Kekowa walked over. Panting heavily and dripping sweat from all over and through his armor. "I was trying to stop her from summonign the Primes."

He said huffing making his way slowly still feeling the effects. "Please hand me my swords back. I promise I wont use them on her again." Kekowa said already using his healing chi to clsoe up teh wounds on hsi friends hands.

Patrick took his attention off Mithisar, and ran towards Kekowa who was no stuck to a tree. He ran towards him, holding his staff tightly. He was going to see if any bones were broken before he helped. He did not want to make his injuires worse.

Natalie exchanged confused looks with Xellos, their combined efforts have an unforseen effect, unexpectedly effective.

"Think it's time to bounce," Xellos called out, summoning the last vestiges of his mana within himself.

Natalie stumbled in her step, the mana drainage starting to get to her with that last throw.

"Ja, we cannot defeat her as we are, we have to depart."

Looking to Levi, she awaited for him to say something.

"Shr fu? What should we do?"

"A tactical retreat or a suicide mission," Janos interrupted, also throwing his lot in with them,"It's your call, Dragon Captain."

"They will end up here, regardless of what we would do. Her mirror is already broken now, so there is no need for us to blindly attack her." He murmured, handing Kekowa back his blades.

"Think it's time to bounce," Xellos called out, summoning the last vestiges of his mana within himself.

Natalie stumbled in her step, the mana drainage starting to get to her with that last throw.

"Ja, we cannot defeat her as we are, we have to depart."

Looking to Levi, she awaited for him to say something.

"Shr fu? What should we do?"

"A tactical retreat or a suicide mission," Janos interrupted, also throwing his lot in with them,"It's your call, Dragon Captain."

Julien nodded.

"I'm all for a meaningless fight but...dying isn't an option."

I hope I don't have to beat some common sense into anyone...

"Currently we are not at our best shape to fight much of anything, so we'll have to leave for now. Hopefully those two will not be able to force their way through anytime soon."
