"No!" Rhia growled, tears running down her cheeks. She weakly raised a shaking hand, as if trying to reach the monstrous enemy. "Not... again... Won't let it... happen... again!"

Her friend seemed to be slipping into unconsciousness; concentrating her breathing, she drew weakly from the Astral Plane and literally fought with her soul to keep Rhia awake.

"You used your ki, spent your body; you sacrifice too much! Come back!"

"I'm sorry, Natalie..." Rhia whispered. "Couldn't... keep my promise..."

Xing and Sirius's attacks held the beast at bay another ten seconds beore it shrugged them off again.

Only to be double teamed by Daichi, Levi, Ramon, Ramus and Kekowa, each bringing whatever they had down on the thing, stalling for time.

Ramus left Rhia in NAtalie's care, saying "Oh it's payback time!"

We're in the middle of a battle with a sphinx after Hunter smashed open its tomb. Magic is gone after it sucked it away with a void spell, but I used one last ditch attack by going towards the gathered energies before they got sucke din. Still waiting for Clerics' reply to that.

OOC: And how's my guitar doing? If it's scratched, Peter will kill you. ;)

Peter, his magic rendered useless now, was questioning his ability to be useful at the moment. Sure, he was tought, but what was he going to do with a sword against a Sphinx?

He focused, centering his thoughts and clearing his mind. Then he began to tap his foot, as if to the rhythm of a 60's rock band. He bobbed his head in time with the beat for a few seconds before walking forward, taking steps in time with the music that only he could hear.

Then, Peter charged, his riped and torn tie flapping in the air behind him as he shouted a battle cry, leaping into the air and thrust his sword at the Sphinx's eye.

The beast was knocked back some, having not seen the attack coming due to focusing on Tamiko. Nor did it see Xellos's attack it (not quite as big as Xellos thought it was, but still packed a punch).


The crack was now at least two feet long, and spider-webbing on the beasts left leg.

Down on her hands and knees, breathing heavy and trying to remain concious, Tamiko stared at the beast wishing she had enough strenght to fight it.

Justin, seeing Dean's attack, grabbed up rocks and began throwing them at the creature as hard as he could.

The beast was knocked back some, having not seen the attack coming due to focusing on Tamiko. Nor did it see Xellos's attack it (not quite as big as Xellos thought it was, but still packed a punch).


The crack was now at least two feet long, and spider-webbing on the beasts left leg.

Xellos continued his fall

I feel drained without his magic, though his mana reserves were slowly building up again thanks to my friends' efforts on the wings.

Still, he had his speed, agility and fighting skill.

Without another second, Dean quickly ran and hoped towards the spinx, intent on landing on the injured part of it's hide.

He reared back, and aimed a punch at the spot, as he was descending towards it.

The punch missed, bu tallowe Selma and Django to smash it, breaking the leg. Stumbling, the beast managed to throw Daichi, Kekowa, Ramon, Ramus, Django, Dean, Levi, Justin and Dean off and begin limping toward Tamiko, intent and killing her

OOC: Just to tell you, Xing wasn't so much trying to whack the Sphinx so much as he was trying to make sure that Tamiko wasn't a nice big splat in the cavern

His chi and ki returned, showing as his muscles grew even more, his current style sending it throughout his body. As the Spinx threw him back, he only skidded back a few fet before coming to a direct stop, refusing to give up anymore ground than he was prepared to, especially now with the Spinx's current target.

Xellos continued his fall

The beast simply opened it's mouth as the backhand came at him and bit down, biting into Levi's arm. It then flung him away like a rag doll.

OOC: Xellos hid it in a safe corner the moment he saw Hunter blow off the tomb lid. It smelt of trouble.;)

The leg, now that the void was gone, began to magically build it'self back as the things magic began to return to it.

Sirus and Henry seeing the leg blasted off concentrated on successive TK and lightning blows directly at the creature's head.

Watching the approaching danger, Xing flung his Dao to the side, crouching down to a pose, curling his fingers into solid fists.

"I should have enough to really put some hurt on you." Xing said as he focused what chi he had regenerated into his fists, "Let's see how much either of us can take."

Rushing forwards, Xing sent fists after fist flying at the sphinx's face.

Xellos flew back, tumbling and bouncing till he came to a stop beside Rhia and Natalie.

Catching his breath while lying on his stomach, he noticed Natalie was trying to do something for Rhia, who was also lying on the ground, perhaps unconscious.

"How...are...you both...holdin up?"

Xellos gasped between breathes.

The beast simply opened it's mouth as the backhand came at him and bit down, biting into Levi's arm. It then flung him away like a rag doll.

Thanks to his chi currently flowing through that limb, the Spinx's teeth failed to break the skin, though barely. Flung away, he skidded across the ground on one knee, shearing off the fabric of his pants. He wasn't sure how long he could keep up this style, but he would try as long as he could. Punching the ground, Levi charged once more toward the Spinx.

Watching the approaching danger, Xing flung his Dao to the side, crouching down to a pose, curling his fingers into solid fists.

"I should have enough to really put some hurt on you." Xing said as he focused what chi he had regenerated into his fists, "Let's see how much either of us can take."

Having just tanked teh brother's attacks, it didn't see yours coming. The fists blew it backward and cracked it's face.


Kekowa, Daichi, Django, Ramon, Justin and Selma all gang-tackled it, trying to hold it back/down.

Plowing through the gang-tackle, the beast runs into Levi, who smacks it around before getting back handed away. Peter's sword slices the right fore-arm off (it used it to protect it's eyes), causing the beast to roar, then back hand him away aswell.


Slowly, it began trying to regen it's wounds.

Hunter placed the dark bullet in his gun, "Hey, ugly. Remember me, the A-hole who blew the lid of that tomb? Why don't you leave the womenfolk alone and charge at me!" Hunter yelled.
"You're ready to cast that spell, right?" Hunter asked Natalie.

[Tami]

The TK and lightning were weak, but they did manage to slow the beast and stop it from regrowing it's limb, but it wouldn't work for long.

Tamiko, regaining a little of her strength, called out, "Ice magic, ice will crack it's stone body." She then made the hand signs to tried to summon water to the creature. Dripping into the cracks in it's body. Now if she could only turn the water to ice.

"How long does it take to recharge magic?" Hunter asked Natalie. "Cause I think we might have another chance soon."

Natalie bit her lip hard enough to draw blood as Rhia slipped away. She then looked up at the beast, and with focus noticed its astral body. The magic had returned, albeit weakly, but the witch's spirit was invigored.

"Hunter, get ready," she seethed, starting her timed breathing again,"The both of us, we will banish the king of Atlantis."

She stood, walked a few paces, and began draw another circle, with five seals.

"Xanadu is a monument to the dead. And we will keep it that way!"

"I'm beggining to see why someone kicked the nose of that Egyptian spinx."

"Hurry that spell, cause I'm shooting it now! Demonic Shell Void!" Hunter roared, firing the obsidian bullet at the sphinx. Hunter wasn't sure how a burst of void elemental energy would help Natalie's spell, but she was really damned intelligent and brilliant. "God I hope this works..."

Dean put aside his contemplations, and focused on the daunting task at hand. Noticing the Beast was distracted, dean quickly sprinted, and jumped off a wall at an angle, using the boost to excecute a jump kick towards the side of the Beasts head.

Hopefully, It wont see this coming.I hate getting smacked into stuff.

Kekowa and Diachi lunged and hit the thing, but were shrugged off and hit Ramon and Djanjo instead. Selma nailed two more fireballs, slowing it down again, as Justin also TK'ed a rock at it, but it stilll powed through and towards Hunter.

Nowhere near back at full, but all the acid is already here. The procedure will be more simple.

Sensing the liquified acid, he froze it solid, then seperated the crystals from the sand. He then piled the acid crystals on the corroded edge of his staff.

I'm gonna need a new one after this...

Haivng regained his breath from the Sphinxs' kick, if not his limited internal bleeding, he slid in behind it as it approached Hunter and jammed the staff up its rectum. A flare of heat up the staff melted the acid. Xellos withdrew his half ruined staff, freezing the buttcrack shut before it was out completely, then rolled out of the way.

Realizing her attempt was ineffective, Tamiko stopped the spell and slowly, weakly, got on her feet. Looking over towards Hunter and Natalie, she watched their attack.

Taking that familar horse stance, he drove his hands forward --the heels of his palms together-- inside the Spinx's open mouth. The orbs of ki built into both palms erupted into that stream of neon energy, draining it from his body as he attempt to destroy the thing from within.

They were, but it shrugged them off and is now in full tilt charging Hunter. You, on the other hand, are behind it. You'll have to catch up to it or hit it with a weak spell to slow it down, like everyone else is doing.

While weakened, Hunter's bullet finally hit it (now that Levi had stopped it).


The Void bullet began tearin gaway at the beast, tearing away a chunk of it's flank and it's left front and rear legs.


Falling to teh ground, the beast began to slowing regen (and I mean slowly).

Realizing that Hunter was in danger, Tamiko summond up as much psychic energy as she could and used her TK to gather up rocks and throw them at it.

Natalie sat in the circle and channelled her spell as the bullet careened towards the sphinx. As she recited the incantation, her eyes began to glow green and her voice became ghastly with a distant echo

"Die mutter Geist en laubwald..."

As the 'Void" bullet began to expand and envelop the beast, Natalie brought her hands forward

"Swarzenengen!!"

Using her astral body, Natalie managed an all or nothing gambit, and succeeded. She managed to tap into the spirit of the forest of Arcadia, the very same that sealed the dark city of Xanadu and kept it at bay. To even the non-magicians, a bright green thread in the air could be seen coursing around and into Natalie. However, as the energy left her hands, it faded quickly into pitch black; and as it flowed toward's Hunter's magic bullet, the ethereal energies became opaque, and began twisting around the Sphinx, binding its four limbs in black bands steaming green energy.

The Void, the antithesis of magical energy, channeled through an opposing diety. The power drain put on the students was now siphoning the powers of the Sphinx.

Gasping, she turned to the student body, and fatiguedly said,"Finish it."

As Kekowa, Daichi, Django, Ramon, Justin and Selma clsoed in on it, it used a very weak Sonic Roar to knock them back, barely.

The beast, still regenening from Hunter's bullet, took the rocks full on, breaking it's body even more.
"beast is almost finished!" Ramus said, taking a rock and kicking the rock at the beasts head at high speeds

They were, but it shrugged them off and is now in full tilt charging Hunter. You, on the other hand, are behind it. You'll have to catch up to it or hit it with a weak spell to slow it down, like everyone else is doing.

OOC: Makes sense, I'm editing it in this post. The acid lance was formed while it was shrugging off the attacks.

BTC:

Xellos pole vaulted with the good end of his staff, landing on the back of the Sphinx. He jabbed the pole into the back of its neck, then sent a flare of heat to melt the acid, hoping to take its head clean off. He leaned into and clutched the staff tightly, adding more pressure to its neck and making it worse as it bucked and swayed, the buried pole messing up its inner workings.

"Swarzenengen!!"

Using her astral body, Natalie managed an all or nothing gambit, and succeeded. She managed to tap into the spirit of the forest of Arcadia, the very same that sealed the dark city of Xanadu and kept it at bay. To even the non-magicians, a bright green thread in the air could be seen coursing around and into Natalie. However, as the energy left her hands, it faded quickly into pitch black; and as it flowed toward's Hunter's magic bullet, the ethereal energies became opaque, and began twisting around the Sphinx, binding its four limbs in black bands steaming green energy.

The Void, the antithesis of magical energy, channeled through an opposing diety. The power drain put on the students was now siphoning the powers of the Sphinx.

Gasping, she turned to the student body, and fatiguedly said,"Finish it."

After having balsted the small group, the beast suddenly felt it's remains seeze up and freeze as it lost nearly all power.

It was defenseless!

"Well, If they used enough magic at once, on one spot..." Dean shrugged.

"Why the hell not. It's not like they have anything better to do."

Dean looked at Ramus. "Well? Do your thing."
Ramus cleare dhis throat and shouted "HEY EVERYBODY! HIT IT NOW!"

Sensing that it was weakened, he charged forward once more. Bringing back his hand, he flattened it much like a knife before driving said hand at the Spinx's throat.

Levi's attack hit, breaking the neck some. He then flipped back as Justin burried the beast under a ton of rock, repeatedly, smearing it against the floor.

Xellos pole vaulted with the good end of his staff, landing on the back of the Sphinx. He jabbed the pole into the back of its neck, then sent a flare of heat to melt the acid, hoping to take its head clean off. He leaned into and clutched the staff tightly, adding more pressure to its neck and making it worse as it bucked and swayed, the buried pole messing up its inner workings.

Assuem you did this before Justin started hitting with rocks, okay?


Your blow severad another part of the sphinx before you had to get out of the way from Justin's attacks.

Landing away from the Sphinx, he knew he hadn't done enough damage to it. Time to think strategic. He thought as hard and clearly as he could, hoping the psychics in his team would pick it up.

Its coming exclusively after Hunter. Exploit that! Keep hunter just out of reach and hammer it till it can't chase him anymore. Someone grab him and carry him off, preferably stoping to dangle him like a carrot every so often!

His hand was bloodied, but it was the blood of the Spinx's and not his own. Watching as it was buried beneath rock, he could only wonder if it was dead or alive.

She sat by Hunter's side as the other students went to work.

Over their heads, the words King Aracana and Queen Sarahis could be seen.

As the Spinx's remains were dumped over the side, Levi slipped on his glasses, his features softening despite being shirtless and his right hand coated in blood. "Hopefully that is the last of our King..." With that he crouched down and picked up his monk's spade from the ground.

Collapsing back onto the ground, Tamiko started breathing a little heavy as tears formed in her eyes. Her heart felt heavy with emotion that she couldn't keep inside any longer. He body too weak from exhaustion to hold it back. Falling onto her arms, she buried her face in them and wept silently.

As Dean finished helping to dispose of the Body of the Spinx, he made a mental note about how he hated being covered in dirt, and wiped his hands on his pants leg.

'Well, That went better than I expected" The scarcasm was thick in his voice.

Hunter was defenseless against it, nothing he did could stop it. Dean barely managed to control his surprise. Although Hunter had been pulling all kinds of unexpected stunts, this was a new, and gruesome trick.

Better than expected, huh? I should have kept quiet.

Dean kept his eyes on Hunter, trying to figure out what was occuring.

Xellos bowed before the tomb, partly out of respect, and partly out of not wishing to have to fight more undead, especially if they were holding the seal over such a precarious location while doing it.

"Please forgive the racket, your highnesses. We meant only to retrieve the artifact in your hands. We promise we'll be out of your hair in a moment."

Removing each half from their hands, he rejoined the group. Then he noticed Hunter bleeding heavily, Natalie beside him.

Xellos quickly joined the two pieces of the idol together, hoping it would signal the end of their quest.

Well, if this doesn't work we'll just have to bandage our wounds and walk back. Lucky I left that ice trail...

Looking to the others, it seemed that the battle had taken a lot from them all. Picking up the remaints of his cheongsam, he approached Rhia. "It may not be much but..." Folding it up, he placed the garment beneath her head, trying to make it as much as a pillow as he could.

Natalie struggled in his grip, then settled down. Indeed the blood had stopped, but the damage had been done; though, Ramon was attuned to magic far more powerful than her own.

"He doesn't deserve this," she winced, wiping her misty eyes, the beginnings of helpless, angry tears,"they can't do this to him!"

But all she could do was watch, and she resigned herself to it.

Xellos pointed out to Peter where his guitar was, in case he felt like playing it during the rest. Then he walked over to Natalie.

"Knowing her, she'd make dark magic light just by smiling at it. She'll wake up disoriented and maybe a bit weak, nothing more,"

Xellos remarked, smiling tiredly while tucking the idol into his pocket.

Reaching into another, he pulled out some fruit he'd carried with him from the forest. It wasn't in all that good condition after the fight though. Forming an ice cup, he squeezed some juice into it and offered it to her.

"Drink up, its refreshing."

Dean sighed heavily as he went sat down against one of the cave walls. His head was aching from the abuse he had taken, and his forehead would still perdiocally drip blood into one of his eyes. Although he was...intrested about the problems plauging Hunter and Rhia, they had already been taken care of, atleast momentarily.

He thought back to the previous battle, with an acceptable level of satisfaction. Sure, Everyone was okay, save for Rhia-who's condition was due to exhaustion more than anything else- and Hunter- Who couldnt seem to wipe his ass without being injured. He felt for Hunter, but at this point, he grew to expect Hunter to have troubles. He was just on par for his course to Dean.

He shrugged off his contemplations and began to think about his training. He had been getting lax in his training, due to all the distractions. He reasoned that the days battles qualified as training, but it just wasnt the same to him. If he had time to train, his enemies would have fallen that much easier.

Sure, so far him and the students had managed to win every battle fought.

But not by enough. Atleast in his mind.

With a yawn, Dean decided he would have to stop slacking off, exhaustion be damned.

He quickly rose to his feet, and started climbing the walls of the cave with one hand.

Reaching into another, he pulled out some fruit he'd carried with him from the forest. It wasn't in all that good condition after the fight though. Forming an ice cup, he squeezed some juice into it and offered it to her.

OOC; Well, Hunter's a demon, and generally she's always being protect-ed instead of doing the protect-ing. Also she's always getting knocked out. Plus being utterly scared and helpless in a magic forest, something she ought to know what to do in, did a number on her self esteem.

Dean sighed heavily as he went sat down against one of the cave walls. His head was aching from the abuse he had taken, and his forehead would still perdiocally drip blood into one of his eyes. Although he was...intrested about the problems plauging Hunter and Rhia, they had already been taken care of, atleast momentarily.

He thought back to the previous battle, with an acceptable level of satisfaction. Sure, Everyone was okay, save for Rhia-who's condition was due to exhaustion more than anything else- and Hunter- Who couldnt seem to wipe his ass without being injured. He felt for Hunter, but at this point, he grew to expect Hunter to have troubles. He was just on par for his course to Dean.

He shrugged off his contemplations and began to think about his training. He had been getting lax in his training, due to all the distractions. He reasoned that the days battles qualified as training, but it just wasnt the same to him. If he had time to train, his enemies would have fallen that much easier.

Sure, so far him and the students had managed to win every battle fought.

But not by enough. Atleast in his mind.

With a yawn, Dean decided he would have to stop slacking off, exhaustion be damned.

He quickly rose to his feet, and started climbing the walls of the cave with one hand.

Certainly getting tossed around like that by that Sphinx hadn't exactly done wonders for his body. The adrenaline rush must've been what had kept him going but now that that was no longer necessary, he certainly was in a world of hurt.

Dean had a flashback back to an earlier conversation with Natalie, in which she had suggested he conserve his strength, and questioned the frailty of the shrine. Dean figured that the shrine was unlikely to fall, due to the fact it hadnt fallen despite the hectic battle that had taken place. Of course, by a nasty stroke of luck, he was wrong. Not only had it collapsed, it collapsed before the students had time to recover.

Dean was better off then some, but his training hadnt done much to leave him any energy. If they made it out in one piece, he could already hear Natalie lecturing him on his actions.

Dean Sighed exhasutedly. And now, some thing-that he didnt recall meeting- wanted them all dead, and had picked a great time to do it.

Through teh pain. Beggan never screamed, just took the beating, knowing that Daichi injured himself more and more every time he struck him (tearing open the knife wound every time).
