Once they reached the larger room, Xing took notice of the tiny isolated island further down, and in his ignorance asked, "What's that thing on that island?"

There is some land before teh pit opens up (about 150 feet in all) before it drops to the pit. The thin land bridge in all that connects your land (the 150 feet) to the tomb. The beast is floating about half-way between the two places.

No, only it's head is vaughly human. Th rest is the standard eagle/lion hybrid. Also, it appears to be made of stone, but is actually a magical construct made to look like stone (camoflauge reasons)

Looking between the two, Xing sighed deeply. Thinking about it, he hadn't really been himself for awhile. Actually being nervous? That wasn't like him. He needed to remember who he was. He was a bat, a creature of happiness, and he couldn't allow himself to be cowering like this now. Allowing a smile to spread across his face, Xing stood up unsheathing his Dao.

"Well, I suppose that something like this may have happened sooner or later. So why not now? Let's see what this thing's got."

Natalie wasn't sure what she could do; for the moment she secured his staff. After futilely attempting to cast something with it, she gave up and tried to come up with some other means. Her eyes turned once more to the stalicites hanging from the ceiling.

Then she finally felt a small flicker within her, a resonance with her focussed breathing. An idea hatched in her mind.

"Only one way to find out" she said, as she turned to the cavern wall.

Dean quickly sprinted towards the Spinx. When he came within attacking distance of the beast, he quickly launched himself into the air above the Spinx' head, and during his decent, aimed a double sledgehammer fist at the crown of the beast head.

This probally wont end well.

The attack netted the beast, slowing him down enough for....

Dashing toward one of the walls, Levi kick-jumped off of it toward the Spinx. His monk's spade crescent blade end was thrusted at one of the eagle-like wings of the ancient creature, attempting to slice it off, or at least wound it.

This broke her concentration for the moment.

"Ja, I do! But I need a ground for it! HAAA!"

Expelling her breath as she thrust her hands towards the cavern wall, Natalie managed to cast the Zerstauben spell through her Astral Avatar, in effect using her spirit, her chi, as the medium. A crack rolled upp the rock wall, to the ceiling, and caused three stalicites to fall over the Sphinx. Having confidence in Xellos' speed and dodging, she called out to him again.

"Quick, jump back! Someone will catch you!"

Seeing noone move towards her rapidly descending friend, Natalie outstretched her Astral arms and caught him.

Dean quickly sprinted towards the Spinx. When he came within attacking distance of the beast, he quickly launched himself into the air above the Spinx' head, and during his decent, aimed a double sledgehammer fist at the crown of the beast head.

Dashing toward one of the walls, Levi kick-jumped off of it toward the Spinx. His monk's spade crescent blade end was thrusted at one of the eagle-like wings of the ancient creature, attempting to slice it off, or at least wound it.

Expelling her breath as she thrust her hands towards the cavern wall, Natalie managed to cast the Zerstauben spell through her Astral Avatar, in effect using her spirit, her chi, as the medium. A crack rolled upp the rock wall, to the ceiling, and caused three stalicites to fall over the Sphinx. Having confidence in Xellos' speed and dodging, she called out to him again.

"Quick, jump back! Someone will catch you!"

Xellos barely twisted in time to avoid being gut open, smashing into the smooth, angled side.

Spotting Natalie with his staff, he leaped back toward her as best he could.

Descending into the pit, it was only when the electricity ceased that he forced himself to kick off the wall, barely making it upon solid ground. Wincing from the pain, he found himself saying aloud, "I would suggest not trying to attack it while on it..."

Dean went flying through several several of the Stalagmites, before crashing into the fall, leaving a huge crack in the nearest cave wall.

That went about as well as expected. Dean staggered to his feat, wiping the rumble from his outfit, and the blood from several scrathes in his cheek, curtesty of broken stalagmite fragments.

"Well. I guess punching it wont work. I'll have to try something different...But what?"

As Dean looked around, searching frantically for something to use, he barely managed to dodge a stalagmite that was knocked loose during his crash, it's point embeded into the rubble. As he walked past it, he quickly stoped, and had a bit of inspiration.


"Well" He said as he picked up the stalagmite. "This may be useful."

Dean quickly ran as fast and as far as he could, before launching his makeshift javelin at the beast.

Working quickly, Xellos froze the acid drops from the stalagtites, breaking them off and gathering them into a small pile of ultra-acidic ice. He shoved his staff into it, then chanelled heat and cold through his hands with as much care as he could muster, such that it the small individual acid ice chips formed a single, large pointed blade on the tip of his staff without damaging it.

Not a perfect fit, but it will do.


Climbing the walls of the cave discreetly, he snuck behind the beast. He dropped down behind it and shoved his acid lance into its rectum, channeling heat into his staff to melt the frozen acid on the tip. He drew his slightly corroded staff quickly. The beast would be reacting to this substance in its bowels soon. Xellos froze its buttcrack, making sure the acid didn't trickle out easily, then leapt back for cover before he got smashed over.

Noticing water dripping from some of the stlagmites, Tamiko quickly made the hand signs for a water spell, then cast it on the underground water source. As the spell too effect, the dripping water was soon replaced by running water. Increasing the power of her spell, then adding a modification to it, Tamiko finsihed her hand signs with a sweep of her hands.

As she did, the underground water was turned into a water cannon, blasting at the sphinx. Though she doubted that it would harm the being, she hoped that it would blind or distract it long enough for the others to attack.

As the Thunderstorm Cannon drove him to the ceiling, his monk's spade struck the ground with a clatter. Moving himself so that he struck the ceiling with his feet, he broke off one of the stalagtites. Dropping the stalagatite for a brief moment, he struck it with his left fist, breaking it into tiny shards.

"Sì Xiàng: Xuánwu's Arrows!!" Bringing back his right hand, he struck the cluster of shards with that open palm, the ki sending the shards raining down upon the Spinx. While he wasn't usually one to call out his attacks, it was mainly to warn the others.

As gravity finally took him back, he landed beside his spade.

Hunter reached into his pocket, pulling out a bullet made of pure obsidian. "I've got this. Obsidian, big mojo."

"Okay then..."

She sat down in the centre of the circle cross legged, and, setting her hands to the dirt floor, began to breathe rhythmically. She was putting her all into this, and casting the spell with her Astral Avatar, her Spirit, required intense concentration.

"When I say so, I want you to shoot the seal. Do you understand?"

Xing grunted as he felt something being tugged away from his body. He instinctively knew that his Chi had been sapped and now, all he had left was his body. That was certainly something he could live with, and in fact, it probably made things alot more simple.

"Well, that thing's going to need to come down some time, and when it does, it's meat!"

Henry looked across at Sirus. "Its up to you bro, I'm no good without my phsycic powers."

"Alright." Sirus nodded and blitzed forward towards the sphinx. 'With my superior speed I should be able to blitz this thing easy' he thought.

The beast, not prepared, took the brunt of the attack. Finally, after at least ten hits, it lashed out and knocked Sirius aside.

"I don't think this plan is gonna work anymore," Hunter said, pointing at the hole thingy.

Violently disconnecting her from her point of concentration caused the witch to violently vomit. It was disorienting as the energy drain stole from her her only means of combatting the beast; she couldn't even see astral bodies in this state.

You got into teh Shrine, answered some more riddles, and have now enetred the fina lroom. However, you lot choose the wrong door, so now you have to figh ta sphinx.

As her spell began to weaken and her energy was being drawn away, Tamiko collapsed onto the ground. Looking up, she tried to focus the last of her energy on her holding spell. Ignoring the impending attack, she concentrated on her spell alone.

Fortunately for him, he had managed to put his last bit of ki to use before it was siphoned. The broke shards of stalagtite he had propelled rained down upon the Spinx like a shower of knives. Having landed, Levi took up his monk's spade once more.

With a paniced roar, it fought off Xing's Dao attack, but the damn boy was holding him off.

With another roar, he finally batted Xing away and began flying at ATmiko again.

"Right!" Sirus yelled back and fired off a large bolt of electricity at the crack while Henry was holding the Spinx.

Xellos let the magical energies being sucked from him carry him up towards the void.

I'll only get one shot at this...but it could never imagine this coming.

His magical link was weakening by the moment, but the closer he drew to the void, the greater the concentration of magical energy. He Spun his staff in circles to gather as much energy as he could around it, then held his staff overhead as he unleashed it.

The energy was too much to control, but with the sheer amount of it he formed a giant, deformed mace head 15 feet long and 5 across. As he felt gravity begin to take its toll on his now considerable weight, he swung his giant weapon with all his might smashed it onto the Sphinx's head below.

With the magic now gone, Xellos allowed himself to fall back towards ground.

The attack was mere inches away, but it was too late. Dean was blasted backward at the Void's opening, though he did manage to flip in the air and land fairly well.

He had missed his attack by mere seconds, and as a result, his team had been weakened considerably. He felt worried about that, as well as guilty, but he didnt have time for such things. He was still in the fight, so that was what mattered.

What to do now-wait, what was that? Dean noticed a crack in the beast's hide, created from the attack Sirus had launched.

As Dean landed, he quickly ran and lined up three broken stalagmites, and began to toss them towards the beasts injury, in rapid succession.

We're in the middle of a battle with a sphinx after Hunter smashed open its tomb. Magic is gone after it sucked it away with a void spell, but I used one last ditch attack by going towards the gathered energies before they got sucked in.

Natalie rolled over and stood up, limping over over to Rhia.

"Hunter! She needs help! Oh, are you injured?" Natalie exclaimed, searching for fractures or burns.

"Got the med kit right here, God I hope she's alright," Hunter said. See what your idiocy has done? People are hurt Hunter, and it's all your damned fault.

OOC: I'm not exactly sure at which point you left off, but from where I started, the question of the Ghost at the fountain was answered, as well as the first Sphinx's riddles.

Then we had a choice between a door with spectres and a door with crowns. The door with crowns was chosen and now we're fighting against another sphinx.

Muscles tightened as he shifted into a new stance. Launching himself before, a heavy punch was thrown at the Spinx's left temple, followed quickly by his left knee as it brought up, attempting to strike the creature in the eye.
