Just glad you had some fun while I was out. Sorry, but I was watching that two-hour Mythbuster special. It was quite good.:)

Once the thing is defeated, I'm here to led you to Xanadu.

Natalie grabbed Tamiko's hand in a weak grip.

"No, not now, Tamiko! Save your energy, use it to sever the root, see what Herr Daichi has done?"

Looking to Natalie worriedly, Selma nonetheless nodded and said "I'll protect Natalie with my life while you sever the root, OK Tamiko?"

OOC: Well, my problem is both... I'm missing out and I have a hard time keeping myself up to date.

OKay, you know what, that said, I'm just gunna drop out, since most of the fun of RPing is RPing with people, and I'm just not able to do that as consistantly as I need to in order to really be a part of an RP this active. Thanks for the opportunity anyway, Cleric.

So, you all can NPC Django if you like, if one of your characters needs a sidekick/friend/pet. Or Cleric can make him a teacher in disguise.

Sorry to see you go, man.:(

Yeah, this one is a bit bigger then Neo DBZ was. I never expected to actually retain so many people this far into the game (usually, at least 1/3 to 1/2 drop out).

I'm really excited to see so many people still here, especially those I don't get to RP with much (Ghost, Miburohunter, ect....)

Mant, I'm having a blast with this thing!

And it's all thanks to you guys/gals/somethings in between.

After all bot hparties win in that aspect eam Natalie weakened it and Crazy Martial arts guy knocks it down chasm.

OOC: ...away from the chasm. And FYI! The method of death/defeat has been chosen! Just do your thing, people. You'll see. ;)
IC:

The Thorn Elemental caught itself, nearly falling over from all the blows in rapid succession, all over it's body.

In a blind attack, swung it's arm out as it rose, another rainfall of giant thorns ripping through the sky as they soared through the air. However, it was off balance, still, swaying forwards and backwards for a moment, trying to steady itself on the slippery ground.

OOC: Should we just ignore the stand-in DM and say the monster died, then everyone move on while Chrosis continues posting about it coming back?:D

"Hey lex ready another one of those sorrow drives and push it back when I say." Kekowa dropped down and swept the Thorn's leggs out fromunder the wobbly monster causing it to fall "Now!"

OOC: You swept the things' legs out from under it? That thing is the size of a building.

OOC: But....isn't the elemental facing towards the chasm?

Alexia rammed into the thorn creature, trying to keep it off balance while trying to escape the deadly projectiles at the same time.

OOC: Ahh whatever, if their intent is to go along with the plan, we can say its temporarily stumbling and turning from the overwhelming momentum of the attacks, so nobodys' really screwing up if they're hitting it back or front.

You were hit in the chest by a thorn but it didn't carry you into any greater danger. If you're alive, you can pull it out yourself. If you're dead, well...nice knowin ya.;)

As for Silver Knight, let him have the last hit and we say the rest of us contributed to slamming the monster towards the chasm. Should be noted that I iced the final portion as per my first post when I came up with the plan, so it lost its footing on it when Kekowa landed that hit.

Go ahead Cleric. I think we're done and marching peacefully along the flower route again to Xanadu.

"To be blunt, Hunter, I think it was an effect of unbalance," Natalie replied,"culling power from...darker...sources gives them a foothold in this realm and they feed off of life energy itself. Twisted powers that suckle from the cohesive fabric of space, ja? Naturally, the balance will turn inward to right itself, though it is unfortunate that none of the people could mend themselves in time."

OOC: Your aware that an arms worth of thorns were directed at me, right? And all Pete managed to do was make them tumble, like boulders.

Not liking this, Tamiko sadly nodded and grabbed her spear. She then ran over to the remaining exposed root and raised up her weapon. Channeling all of her spirit energy into her weapon, causing it glow with her aura, she swung down on it as hard as she could.

A handkerchief will be insufficient here..

Xellos took back his cloak from Hunter. Now that the book was gone, there was nothing for it to conceal.

He tore it up and tied it around her arm wounds in a makeshift torniquet.

"It should stop the bleeding, but we should hurry and finish this quest, or Gangrene may set in."

OOC: Uhh, Tami. I think its dead now. Unless you want to jump into the chasm after it.:D

OOC: Well, I think this should work. If someone already saved me, then damnit.

As the barrage of thorns tumbled towards Dean, with the rumble of a thousand drums their erratic beat filled with promises of death, He began to curse, as he realized his only option.

He really hated using his named techniques, not only because they left him vunerable after a while, but because it was a matter of pride. No opponet was worthy of seeing the glory of such techniques, especially not some thorns. Dean, realizing it was either do something, or die, choose the former.

"Christ, I am an Idiot" Dean said to no one in paticular, as he swatted a thorn that had nearly hit it's mark to the side. As he rose to his feet, he pulled the thorn that had pierced him earlier from it's resting place in his shoulder, with a grunt of effort and spray of blood as he removed it.

Shrugging of the pain Dean quickly assumed a fighting stance, and as another thorn neared him, he began his counter.

"Special Technique: Magnum Punch!" Dean said quietly. He reeled back his right hand, and hit the thorn with such force it was sent flying into it's brothers at breakneck speeds.

The Thorn crashed into it's brethern, and sent the majority of them crashing into random directions, like pool balls being struck.

Dean breathed a sigh of relief as none of the stray thorns hit him. And then he coughed up dark red blood, before sitting on his ass.

The Thorn Elemental tried to steady itself, sending out even more waves of the monstrous thorns at it's attackers, knowing full well what they were trying to do.

The creature dug it's thorns into the ground. It had no intention of being pushed any further.

Natalie had finally noticed a small pattern with the Thorn Monster's movements and actions. It was mostly a hunch, but she needed to know.

"Your Snake Bite, I will need you to use it..."

She reached towards him with a gesture. Using her Astral Avatar, she suddenly hoisted him up with an invisible hand.

"The root, Daichi, sever the root!"

And with a burst of spirit energy made corporeal, she put what she had into Daichi in preparation for letting him fly.

"GO!"

OOC: Fastball Special, Schoolhouse style

:And Daichi grit shis teeht a she wa slaunched and saw the root along the soil. As he spoke.:

BY THE POWER OF GREY SKULL!!!!!!!!!!! :As he wa smad that this thing hurt his friend, ver ymad indeed.:

:And he takcle dthe root and griped his hands around it and even bites it, getting his lips cut as he triggers it.:

SNAKE BITE!

:The Tirpple Snake Bite with both hands and his mouth crushed the root into dust, as he hit the thing at full pwoer, times three, as deep within his body, the Heaven,Eart,h and Human spheres were triggered.:

:And a shte root became dust Daichi fell on his ass as the root was gone.:

That's what you get for hurting my friend."

It's leg was ripped from the ground, tearing out a large chunk of earth, and the Thorn Elemental seemed to waver for a moment, the deep gold in it's eyes fading away for a moment. For that moment, it seemed almost fragile. The lingering flames catching on once more, igniting parts of it's body.

The monk's spade was stuck into the ground as Levi tore long strips from his cheongsam's frontal flap. Tying it around his hands, he clenched both only to still see a small trickle of crimson drip. "Looks like I'll have to rely on my hands and feet alone..."

Ki once more entered his body, muscles and veins pressed against the surface of his flesh. Sparks of electrical energy danced about him as his ki not only gathered in his right palm, but now his left. Planting his right foot down in a stomp, Levi took a horse stance before the creature. Thrusting both palms forward, heels touching, the twin orbs of ki ignited as the double open palms struck the creature's leg, erupting into a neon green light.

The Thorn Elemental's leg buckled, sending the towering creature crashing to the ground, it's two long legs hanging out over the chasm. Slowly, the fire began to burn once more in it's eyes, an arm reaching out, letting a wicked looking thorn slide out from it's palm. And it stayed there, the creature sliding backwards and into the chasm, for nearly all life had left it's eyes, and where there was once a solid, indomitable will, there was now only the faintest ember of life.

For a moment one would fear that it would find earth at the bottom, and return with a vengeance. However, that fear soon vanished, when as curious on lookers watched from the top of the chasm, careful not to fall in as well, the Thorn Elemental crashed into the wall of the chasm, the arm Hunter damaged ripping free from it's body. The Thorn Elemental fell deeper, to the bottom of the ravine with a sickening crunch and into a black, thick, shadow.

This was not a normal darkness, though. This chasm was rank with death. In it's half living daze, it's head smashed, both legs broken, and missing an arm, the Thorn Elemental seemed to struggle, but it was in vain. It was pulled deeper in by a black, oozing arm that wrapped itself around the Thorn Elemental's chest, dragging the struggling, crippled Elemental down into the dark, where there was no sound, but a great, and evil, power.

It appeared that the world had worst secrets than giant thorn creatures. If the students were to survive, they would have to work together better than ever before.

No, the Norns are the most badass students there. Even when they have only seven members in the entire Norn Dorm (the smallest group of students in Arcadia), they could still beat the entire group right now by only using four of the seven.

Hunter was feeling upset, and a bit scared. He had lost his humanity to the old Triumvirate, he had been attacked by a giant thorn creature...and now he was lost, and his leg had been injured by that last thorn blast.
"Hello? Guys? Somebody?" he said, receiving only echoes as answers. "Eep," he said, feeling alone. He began walking, hoping to make it back to the group. But he was heading in the wrong direction...

I was merely commenting on Ghost stating that you lot were the most badass class there at Arcadia.

No, the Norns are the most badass students there. Even when they have only seven members in the entire Norn Dorm (the smallest group of students in Arcadia), they could still beat the entire group right now by only using four of the seven.

I was already planning on them being the toughest of the tough at Arcadia right now (for Students at least).

OOC: For such a badass group, their dorm name seems a bit...less intimidating...or at least in my opinion.

Looking to his palms, both still smoking, he found that his makeshift bandages had held well enough. Tightening each with his teeth, he slipped his glasses on before finally slumping his shoulders in relief. While one Xuánwu Palm was all righty stamina-wise, the Double Xuánwu Palm took a lot out of him. "Good work, everyone..."

Natalie was too weak to say anything for the moment, but made some observations to the nature of these spirits.

Green faeries? No, far too small, yet the astral bodies of sprites are not nearly as potent. Still, if they were related to the spirit Selma talked to, I suppose they are the ones that hold the black magic of Atlantis under binding...though it is curious how they were consumed by that dark entity...

Guess I dodged a bullet. I wonder if everyone else was just as lucky.

Just peeking over the wall was the top of a tall, thin spire. This was the top of the Shrine, in the very heart/middle/center of Xanadu.

After what felt like an eternity it seems they arrived. Even if most of the city was obscured by the walls, it was still quite marvelous. Depsite his awe, he noted the talon markings; would it turn out to be another foe they would soon combat against perhaps?

"Xanadu, City of Sorrows, lost in time, drowned in tears," Hunter said when they made it there. He didn't much like the look of the place.

A wraithlike figure then appered in front of the gates. It wore a hood of darkness, and held up a skeletal hand, it's cloak shrouding it's face.

Halt, those who wish to enter Xanadu. Long has it been since any tried to enter these walls. You must answer my question to do so. If you fail, then I Darjek, Kepper of Precepts, shall not let you pass. Ever.

"Natalie..." she said. "I... I'm sorry. I-I wanted to protect you but I wasn't fast enough, strong enough. I failed..."

Natalie moved over to the warrior princess, and still high off of the spiritual empowerment, threw a playful left on her shoulder.

"...you worry too much! It's all right, ja?"

She tilted her head forward and whispered to her.

"You and me both, we cannot protect everyone at once, ja? Still, save some for me, I'll catch up to your monkey leaps yet ;)"

And with a firm embrace, Natalie twirled, invigorated, and pointed to the city with her wand.

"No, no Tamiko, it's alright, ja? It seems there are still benevolent spiritual entities in the body of this forest."

Clasping her roomates around in an awkward grouphug, she beamed.

"We ought to stop being so helpless though; surely there's a better name for us mages? 'Sorrow Sorority' is so uncouthe!"

"To right Natalie. We really do need to stop being helpless so we can stop being the 'Sorrow Sorority'. Then we can be the sorority known as 'Warrior Women' or something else." Selma said, relieved Natalie was fine.

She hugged Natalie gently, her cheeks darkening, but let out a low sigh at the same time. Her life was getting more difficult all the time, and she had noone to talk to about it.

As Dean Rejoined the group, he arrived just in time to see some green..things, departing. Figuring it to be of no importance, he continued walking towards the group. He saw Xellos, and decided to see how he was coping from the battle.

"Well, That was fun, huh?" Dean said loudly to Xellos. As he spoke, he became aware of his wounds being healed.

"When the hell did that happen?!" Dean yelled while examining his shoulder.

Dean, upon quickly contemplating what had just occured, the departure of the mysterious green thingies, and his own unfathomable ablilites, came to one conclusion:

His Muscles were invincible. There was only one thing for him to do.

"Friends! Behold! The Glory of my muscles knows no bounds! They laugh at the feeble wounds that Thorn monster inflicted, and repaired themselves with the greatest of ease!"

He Proceeded to randomly pose, before ending with his signiture bicep flex.

"Praise their glory!"

Xellos was very amused.

"Then I guess all your training was quite useless for that. Natalie sustained graver wounds than you and she's healed just as well despite working out considerably less."

The group moved after the fight, keepin gsharp eyes out on any violent foilage from that point on.

The warithlike being stopped, then nodded.

Very well. You may enter. Be warned, though, there are other keepers inside, and each question is harder then the last......

The creature then vanished, leaving the pathway open.

As the Warith diaspeared, Dean wondered if the riddles would be solved quicker by punching the keepers in the face.

Usually, in his experiance, Alot of riddles had that as an acceptable answer.

The inner courtyard wasn't much of anything, after entering teh main gates. However, once they got past the rubble, they saw the real Xanadu.

Vines and ivy had overgrown and broken at least 80% of every stone building in the First Sectrum (where you just entered). Only two 50 foot tall statues and two buildings looked evenly remotely safe. Three pathways led into other parts of the city, one to the north, one to the west, and one to the east.

Xellos sat down beside him.

"You know, things always seem the same to us whenever we look at them from a distance. If we could see each star, examine each pebble, we'd note the countless things that make them unique. We just group things together like stars or humans due to some shared common traits."

Xellos sighed,

"I've tried defining my personality a few times before, but I found that no matter what, the definition always turned out to be wrong. We change constantly, from day to day, building our character through each experience. Living according to an old idea of what we believe ourselves to be may be comforting for a time, but it is ultimately folly. We build and refine and demolish ourselves both unconsciously and as we see fit. Sometimes, shit happens that overwhelms us. Traumatising events like parents dying, witnessing brutal acts, demon corruption..."

He turned his gaze from the stars to meet Hunter eye to eye,

"You have undergone drastic changes today Hunter, and you're still reeling from the shock of it. Yet even during your darkest hour your character shines through. As you come to terms with what has happened to you, life will go on. You may find you have new interests, new needs, maybe even new personality traits you never had before. Some will be wonderful, some harmless, others hurtful. As long as you can distinguish which is which, know what direction you want yourself to go, your heart and mind are capable of overcoming whatever natural tendencies that would inhibit you. If even that becomes lost in the fog and storm, seek out those you hold close and listen to them. As far as I know, there is nothing love and trust cannot overcome emotionally, and nothing logic cannot overcome mentally"

OOC: Hunters a demon now, We killed a Thorn elemental and five Wyrms, left the forest and are in some lost city/deathtrap, and Selma totally wants to make out with natalie.

Oh Kekowa totally hates Xellos. Who coincidently, is a total softie. :)

I think thats the important stuff.

"A pleasure to meet you, Selma," Django said, glad to get his mind of the phantom prescence that haunted to city.

Selma smelled nervous and a little bit excited, he realized, even though she appeared calm on the outside. Having noticed the glances she kept giving Natalie over and over again, he put two and two together and had to keep himself from grinning broadly. Well, well...

"I know a thing or two about combat magic as well," Django said and put a hand on his sword. "Though, I prefere a more 'hands on' approach, so to speak. However, I admit I have yet to master that particular aspect of my style."

"Well, I've mastered the combat part, but I'm still working on the magic part of it." Selma said, a small smile on her face.

Her smile fell as she noticed something strange overtake Django for a moment or two before it disappeared. 'What seems to be the problem with him?... He couldn't know, could he?' Selma thought, before shaking it off.

"Well, I do hope that me and you could get some sparring in later, Django. It'd be a most unique learning experience for the both of us, I'm sure." Selma said, still smiling.

Well, the whole group travelled together here, unless I missed a post where Henry got tranported, So they should be with us.

You may want to ask Falcon if henrys M'kay. I think it worked, but my memory has diminished. :D

Yeah, Henrys' fine, Demon Hunter (sorry, couldnt resist) was way higher level than what was in Sirius (he's like a royal demon), so he banished it from Henrys' mind. We'll assume the brothers made some unmentioned contribution in the filler battle, like all absent characters.

There did seem to be ALOT of hugging and crying going on...but some girls tend to do that. And its just the second day.

And Xellos likes Rhia alot. Friendly like.:p

Fortunately my work computer uses Opera, so I just keep the window open and refresh every now and then, so I'm on top of any new posts unless I'm really busy.

I'd never actually thought my character would be romancing in the RPG, but I guess that's the beauty of this open system.

Natalie stood up from where Xellos had left her, still shaken from the visage of the Rage Demon that was trapped in Henry's mind. There was a strange essence in the air of the living forest, as though a vacuum had grown in the shroud of life energy that radiated from it.

Then, she saw a devil manifest in the corporeal realm, something that should never happen naturally. It was extradimensional summoning. The only one who could have done that was...

"...Hunter?

OOC: Was going through old posts...what a breakneck pace this RPG as set.

Actually, Natalie was still draped over Hunter with Xellos in front of him at the time because he thought Hunter would need some human contact to ground him in the real world. So she wasn't sitting alone.

OOC: They'll have the first oppurtunity though. Xellos is somewhat aware he is attracted to her, but he doesn't have Natalies' crush. At present he's dealing with his own guilt over Hunter becoming a demon, trying to continue to be a good guide to him and be a good leader.

I was thinking I'd see whether it was appropriate in chapter 2 or 3, and I realistcally can't see Xellos acting on anything he may feel for her during this quest. So Selma, who is acutely aware she's attracted to Natalie and is itching to tell her, has the ball in her court for now.

Of course, all of this is assuming Natalie is willing to play ball.;)

GrandpaGen is already well aware of the Selma crush and hasn't steered his character away from it, meaning Natalie can be romanced. Either Natalie and my character get together, or we see lesbian magic girls. To be honest, I win either way.:D

Since children view this board too, and because I think Gordon or Watcher might intervene if things went to Ikki Tousen levels, and simply for the sanity of all involved, its best if there is nothing beyond PG-13.
