What is with the lack of consistancy with this book?

I am getting close to dropping it.

When you have a title that has no regular creative team, it inevitably will be inconsistent. The Darwyn Cooke/Tim Sale opening arc was intriguing, but since it hasn't been finished, I haven't bothered to pick up any of the issues of the new arc (which I've heard is dreadful, much like Batman Confidential has been since its inception). I read the two core Superman books and All-Star Superman, so Confidential (and Superman/Batman) aren't must-haves for my monthly pull list.

Ditto.

I'm waiting for the last Darwyne Cooke/Tim Sale issue and I'll probably be done with the book unless another team that comes in that I really like. In fact I think this would be better off bought as a trade or hardcover as with a lot of the inconsistent DC stuff like Heinberg's Wonder Woman and the Johns/Donner/Kubert Action Comics.

I realize that the entire point of a Confidential title is for it to exist outside of continuity, but I found myself slightly annoyed with the latest issue - specifically, with Superman's complete ignorance of the goings-on around him. "Who are you guys? Darkseid who? What just went boom? Seriously, guys, what's going on here?" Bewildered isn't a great look for Big Blue; more to the point, I felt bewildered by the time I was done reading it. The whole thing seemed rushed.

Then again, that seems to be par for the course lately. We got dropped into the Mer-tropolis story in what felt like the middle. I had to read the first issue of that arc twice and then even checked the issue number to make sure I hadn't missed something.

Wow... I wandered over here because I just read and loved the new issue of Superman Confidential, #8 by DnA and Batista. First time I picked up the title, and I've added it to my pull list after this issue. But it sounds like this title has pissed off a lot of people! I was surprised to read mostly griping.

Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning have been doing a great job with Marvel's cosmic characters over in Nova, Annihilation: Conquest, etc. I followed them here when I saw they were doing a "between panels" New Gods story dating back to Kirby's Forever People run in the 70s. I've had the Kirby B&W Fourth World trades since they came out, and now have both volumes of the color omnibus, which are just beautiful, and I'm reading Starlin's "Death of the New Gods" right now, and this title dovetails nicely with those.

Chris Batista draws characters that look clearly Kirby created, yet he's able to balance that with his own style and not cross the line to slavish aping of the King. And "Great Scott!" I love the way DnA write the classic Supes dialogue!

I'm no DC apologist. If you've seen other posts of mine, you'd know that's true! But in this instance I really would like encourage you to put aside your pissed-off-ed-ness and give this story a shot. I'm liking it... old school New Gods!

I haven't really been hearing anything about Superman Confidential at all. Is it any good? I know the creative teams seems to be switched pretty much every issue but don't want to bother starting to read it if it's consistently sucky and not worth it.
