Too true....especially since we've waited about two months for its conclusion.....
Still I'm also hoping for another LONERS Mini to be coming out from Marvel soon {since CBC mentioned about his pitching his second LONERS story}......

Interesting. Apparently Penance recognizes Namie. Not sure that narrows her identity down, since Penance's own identity is not 100% clear as yet, but maybe someone else with better knowledge of Penance's history might have some ideas?

I know pretty much everything there IS to know about Penance's history (and, trust me, there's not much) and I've got absolutely no clue.
Namie and Penance were in the tubes together...
Well, the problem is that she isn't the mutant from the former Yugoslavia that her original creators Scott Lobdell and Chris Bachalo had intended her to be, thanks to a retcon by Larry Hama who placed Monet in ... do you really want to know all this?
Lol.
Let's just say, after some mess, the Penance body awoke and was still mute, but decided to stick with Generation X until things got too heated with anti-mutant tension and she was sent off to Africa, where she stayed in comic book limbo until her first Loners appearance.
We don't know if Cebulski is going with the identity that was vaguely hinted at in the last issues of Generation X (with an ice sculpture of a mysterious man and the fact that Penance got upset when the others were talking about their families) or if Cebulski has come up with a new identity of who is Penance.

Or we roll out with forgetting the origin and deal with a character that has a unique look.
Less who you were, but who you are now?
Hollow = speaks a little, cracks smiles, and seems to be a person.
Penance = Monet, no Claudette, no Nicocle, no Emplate, finally just an empty shell.

Karl Maline? Karl Malone?!
Karl MOLINE, Mark Pennington and Beth Sotelo did an amazing job on this last issue of Loners (>sob< >sob<) and I can't wait for you all to read it!
Thanks for your support!
Take care,
C.B.

Looks good, I wonder what was tweaked that delayed this issue. And after just re-reading #5, I'm wondering if Dusk will be making a reappearance. And hopefully we'll get some more info on this Namie girl.

C.B.!!!!! You're quickly becoming one of my favorite writers for Marvel! I love how you use such strong character moments to drive this book, and you're love for the D-listers of Marvel is so inspiring! I can't wait to read more Loners and other stuff from you in (hopefully) the near future!

After confirming Hornet's death, you wouldn't kill me again by making Phil a full-fledged bad guy, would you?

Yeah, we could do that, lol. But Penance wasn't empty, there was definitely something going on there. She could write and understand English (she wrote HOME on a tree) and has some sort of past.
Hollow may or may not be Penance.... the more Loners I read, the more I wonder. She's definitely better adjusted to her powers (she hasn't accidentally cut anyone yet just by touching them and can speak) and can track, which may or may not have been an aspect of the original Penance.
But just as Namie isn't Namie's real name, and that C.B. has said that this is actually a long-time Marvel character who wasn't necessarily ALWAYS female (), Hollow may be some sort of genetically altered freak based on Penance.
But yeah, enough rambling speculation from me; just wanted to say that Karl, Beth, and Mark really outdid themselves with issue #6 of the first Loners mini.
Also, I don't think Phil is going to become a full-fledged bad guy. He's just a little confused right now. Yeah. Confused. :D

I see that most of the Loners' readers are either worrying about Phil {Green Goblin/-Hawk  } or Chris {Darkhawk}....
Either way.....Issue #6 definitely won't be boring.... ;)

I'm actually thrilled by the latest developments for those two.
I was really warming to Phil--not really knowing who he was beforehand--and then just snapped. I thought that was awesome.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this.
The art looks amaaaazing. I really feel like this mini is going out with a bang. I hope to learn more about Hollow, too, Starleafgirl. I was a big fan of hers back in the day, but at least she still is as cute as ever without even saying a word.
