How is it that unlike the original X-Men no one of the original Fantastic Four has ever been killed?I think the Thing may have died a couple of times.

Reed has died a couple of times. Ben did die, and Reed literally went into Heaven to get him back.

They all died in Onslaught and Secret Wars.

They probably don't stay dead due to the fact that they're a close nit family and that has been one of their main ongoing themes since the begining of the book.

The F4 aren't just a group of random people put together like the X-teams or the Avengers who fight for a common reason.

They're a family first, and a superhero team second.

If someone would kill off one of the 4 for good it would lose the family feel of the book to add another character to complete the 4. Sure the team has had many different changes but they always go back to the REAL F4.

And, except for Jean, the other originals never died. Scott and Warren went missing for several months, but it was clear the former didn't died, and the latter was always intended to be brought back shortly.
