Good effort guys, you should be pround of your work and the whole voting thing is, well, it's all part of the game...I feel your pain my friends.:)
Hope you can join us in the play-at-home thread.

Torres, your elimination this week was totally not a reflection of talent level or judge of execution in this week's assignment, IMO. I'm beginning to lose confidence in the competition outcome shedding a correct light in the true skills and talents of the craft...
I know I didn't vote for you this week, but definitely did not think your work deserved to get you voted off.

Chin up, gentlemen. It's not over until it's over. Popularity is no representation of skill. At least not in my book. That's true of all fields of entertainment. You are great artists and respectable competitors. Job well done, boys!
Good looking, Jose. ill be voting for u.

I know what it's like, but don't let it stop you from working hard. The voting is what it is, and you guys are some top flight dudes chosen out of a field of 180. Everyone gets their knocks when working in entertainment! Consider it a trial by fire, and stay ready! Chin up, guys. There's more great work ahead from each of you, I can feel it!

I'm going to need a moment. ;__;
This was just too difficult to watch... such great art produced.
I'm especially saddened that the first of my "fav 4" had to fall...
I salute you, Mr. Torres. I expect great things from you, sir!

Keep in mind that past non winners, such as Micah Gunnell, have gone on to good jobs in the industry,

You guys are aces in my book! I agree with Jose on this one...your departures don't reflect your talents...I can't wait to roll into the comicshop and pick up yalls books. Good luck, although with yalls talent...theres no luck needed.
All the best,

Too bad you didn't get to make it to round 3 Drew. You would have shined there.

Wilfredo, Andrew, I hope this opens up some new avenues for you guys. May better things come your way.

Well, guys, I'm not a professional, just a comicbook reader, so I guess my comments shouldn't count as much - maybe they should, since I'm your audience!;)
Anyway, Huerta: I guess the problem for you in round 2 was that your style is too "superhero mainstream" for this kind of introspective narrative. You did a good job, but your style definetly didn't match the script. Maybe as a hard rock guitar player trying to play blues or something, I don't know if you get my point.
I believe there is much work for you to improve, probably tight deadlines for the competition were a problem, in any case I felt that, in the overall, you should have put more time into the pages you were drawing so that you could get a better result.
Wilfredo Torres: it was a surprise for me to see you eliminated here. Differently from Huerta, I think your style matches perfectly what the script asked for. I like your simple lines, that seem to be easy to draw, but it is very difficult to obtain the level of emotions you did with not so many lines.
I really think you are ready to work professionally, probably some professionals would disagree, but as a reader I would definetly buy something with this kind of art for non-mainstream comics. You did a great job in round 2, much better than round 1, and as I had said, you were amongst my top 3 for this round.
Good luck for both in developing your artwork and keep up practicing, your art allows you to dream with a job in the comics industry, it's just a matter of working hard and improving your talent.

One of the problems with the 'Idol' format is that you are voting for your favourite rather than who you think should be eliminated.
Thus, Wilfredo Torres, whose art this week was my second favourite, is sent packing.
So sad.

You don't have to vote for your favorite. I know a bunch of people who voted for people with fewer votes so they would stay for the next round.
Some people vote for their favorite art, some vote for a friend, some vote for strategic reasons, and some just vote for whatever reason.
People can vote however they want.

I think Torres’s portfolio - http://www.comicspace.com/mightyfineline - is the best out of all the artists. Really, really talented. Sorry you didn't get further in the contest!

And I believe it's Andrew Huerta who already has a fan sketch published in an issue of Invincible :D
