According to Brubaker over at Newsarama (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=134077):

And let me take a moment to say thanks and good luck to our good friend Mike Perkins, who has moved on from Captain America for the time being, at least. Mike jumped in to help us out around issue #7, when Steve really needed him, for reasons that aren't for public consumption, but we owe him and Michael Lark a huge debt for helping us get the book out back then, and then Mike stuck around to become our rotating artist. But it's time for Mike to stretch his wings now and do his own thing.

This is a bit of bummer as I was loving his work on this book. If Epting needs a break and Perkins isn't available, may I suggest Lee Weeks as his replacement? His work on the Winter Soldier One-shot last year was outstanding!

Also, thanks to a poster over on the 'rama now I know that Epting has a blog (http://steveepting.blogspot.com/). I'm pretty sure that will now be a weekly stop for me.

So long as Marvel continues to use Perkins, I won't consider this a "bummer" of an announcement. I just hope that Epting can keep up or that his relief pitcher is of Perkins's caliber.

That's an excellent suggestion if a fill-in is needed!

Reading through the posts over at newsarama, a couple of people make some good points. There was all of the Civil War tie-in issues that he didn't pencil. Then the death issue. Then 3~4 months of nothing while Fallen Son shipped and then 4~5 months of working on half an issue. I sure hope that Epting is far ahead on Cap.

To me, this is pretty good news - Butch Guice inking Steve Epting's pencils on Captain America #32!

I wonder if this is a short or long term solution?

Oooh, very nice.

Just look at those credits. It's like Ed Brubaker just joined CrossGen North. If Troy Lanphear suddenly replaces Joe Carmagna, I'm going to cry Alessi Conspiracy!

Say what you will about his business running, Alessi sure had an eye for talent!*

I want Mike Perkins on another Union Jack series, with Christos Gag writing again!
Best superhero mini I've read in a long time.

*And ideas, and in some cases business practices. It's a shame they went bust so quick for silly reasons, as it gave the other companies an easy out for ignoring what Crossgen was doing in regards to treatment of talent (when they did good at the beginning) and breaking away from superheroes.

I completely agree. The Gage/Perkins team is the main reason that I am picking up the House of M: Avengers mini-series.
