I was reading my hardback copies of GM's run and was wondering if anyone was missing some of those characters as much as me. I mean i feel like some never got a fair shake and some could have been great with time. I mean look at Cannonball for example. I remember when he was a scrawny awkward teen who was unsure of himself, not many people liked him in the beginning, but he grew into a popular character. My votes are for these characters to come back...
Beak- fully mutated again
Xorn- christ my handle is his
Quentin Quire- could be a great threat to the x-men
Sublime- a male equivalent of malice
Cassandra Nova- where the hell did she go?
Angel- not warren
the rest of Quentin's team.

And X-Corporation.
And a cool Beast.

Let's see...
Beak and Angel are appearing in New Warriors (though they aren't the same, I've heard), so that takes them off the list.
Sublime has been receiving exposure recently, so he's out.
That leaves the current continuity headache sitting in the sun, my least favorite villain, and Quetin Quire (whose fate I don't remember).
I'll go with Other. I'm sure there's a better option in that vagueness somewhere.

I would say Xorn if the very idea of him wasn't so repulsive now.

I like Beak where he is as Blackwing.
I'll be honest, and say that I miss pre-Xorneto Xorn.

Love Morrison's run, but there should've been a NONE option. :D
Ok, so I kinda like Nova.
And I can't believe one his most infamous creations, Fantomex, didn't make the list.

Cassandra Nova is the only one but I woudn't even be all that excited for that either so currently none.
Xorn would have been a good pick had Morrison and Marvel not FUBAR'ed themselves into a corner with the character.

I think only Morrison should ever write them since other writers have taken these characters to directions I don't really care for. Actually only Sean McKeever had ever written a great Fantomex consistent with Morrison's version when he appeared in the Mystique series.

I miss many of the characters, but mostly I just miss them being written by Grant Morrison. I miss his Xorn, Angel, Beak, Cassandra/Ernst, Cuckoos, Emma, Beast, Xavier, Jean, and Cyclops. I even miss his Storm, and he only wrote her for one issue. Basically, I just miss Morrison. Whedon, Brubaker, and Kyle & Yost have all done a good job with several of those characters, but I'd definitely prefer Morrison.

Angel- yeah. she's cool.
Xorn - yeah! But better developed.
Sublime- yuck! no.
Cassandra Nova - yuck! She's too much.
Quentin Quire - no! He's too much. And we have more interesting telepaths.
Quentin will be written badly. He just will. He's a nearly Phoenix level telepath, immortal, and a snot nosed spoiled little brat of a kid obsessed with his high school crush. Yuck. It would be hard to write it well. What? Beast will put some psi dampening helmet on him? Or somebody will teleport him to Limbo? No. This will end badly. Don't bring him back.

No.
There was no second Xorn.
That story never happened.Neither did the Age of Apocalypse 10 Year Reunion.
Although I have to admit, Marvel accomplished what I thought to be physical impossibilities with those stories. They figured out how to actually physically publish actual shit in paper form and distribute it to storefronts.
Er, theoretically they would have if either story had happened.

Just little excerpts about some of them for those who dont know what were talking about.
Beak-
When Beak first came to Xavier's Institute he became a student in Xorn's special class. There he fell in love with classmate Angel Salvadore, and later she became pregnant. Because of her mutation, or possibly Beak's mutations she shortly after laid eggs, and they hatched after a few days. All the children were born with mutant features similar to both Beak and Angel Salvadore. They were given a cabin in the woods next to the mansion to live in with their kids. Later on, all of the students from the special class joined Xorn's new Brotherhood of Mutants, along with Beak but he soon rebelled against them.
After some time the reality-hopping team known as the Exiles came to Earth-616 and Beak helped them on a mission, after which the Exiles were forced by the Timebroker to trade team-member Nocturne for Beak against his will. He had no choice and went with them and many missions later was returned to his reality just in time for the Scarlet Witch's de-powering of mutants resulting in Beak, Angel Salvadore and five of their six children being de-powered. Beak, however, was just happy to be reunited with his family and they still lives near Xavier Mansion.
Xorn-
Xorn was initially Magneto who had decided to infiltrate the X-Men and would later turn on them when they weren't expecting it. It would later turn out to be Kuan-Yin Xorn, who assumed the identity of Magneto. Kuan-Yin was decapitated by Wolverine after he killed Jean Grey.
The X-Men would later encounter another Xorn, or rather Shen Xorn. He is Kuan-Yin's brother. Shen Xorn was one of the mutants to lose his powers on M day.
Quentin Quire-
is an Omega level mutant, and former student at the Xavier Institute. He is responsible for forming and leading the Omega mutants and is currently in stasis in Beast's lab.
Quentin Quire has Omega level telepathy and telekinesis. He also has a hyper-intelligence that allows him to compute 10 million independent thoughts a second. He was a prized student and protege of Jean Grey herself. He eventually rallied other mutants to his own cause and turned away from Xaviers' teachings, as it turns out Quires crush Sophie one of the Stepford Cuckoos would later be his downfall during a riot which he and his fellow omega gang mutants started in the grounds of the mansion. His body was destroyed, and his mind was kept in a semi conscious form in beasts lab, where it was eventually brought back to full Consciousness and then given a body by the phoenix force returning to earth. He then attempted to resurrect his lost love Sophie (previously mentioned) but was unable to complete the process with the help of the phoenix she was returned to life but ultimately she hated him for it and destroyed herself once more. In the sequel, Phoenix: Warsong, Kid Omega appears in his human form again and it is rumoured that the Stepford Cuckoos are responsible.

Sublime-
is a sentient virus that possesses and operates through his hosts. The first Sublime was an assistant of the Professor. He aided in the research in the Weapon Plus Program when the launching of Weapon X (now known as Wolverine) was to take place. He later became the new head of Weapon Plus closed down the Weapon X project. Weapons XI-XV were created during his leadership.
Angel-was a student at the Xavier Institute. Depowered, she is now part of the New Warriors along with Beak, now known as Blackwing.
Angel Salvadore was a student at the Xavier Institute. Angel fell in love with, and had six children with class-mate, Beak. The six children were all mutants and had various mutations from both parents. Five of them were depowered after M-Day. Angel was among the few who remembered the events of the House of M.

Xorn-
Xorn was initially Magneto who had decided to infiltrate the X-Men and would later turn on them when they weren't expecting it. It would later turn out to be Kuan-Yin Xorn, who assumed the identity of Magneto. Kuan-Yin was decapitated by Wolverine after he killed Jean Grey.
If thats marvels official explanation then that is flat out retarded. I just read thru Morrison's run for the 20th time and xorn was magneto all the way. It all makes sense from beginning to end. I pull new things out of it everytime. Im sick and tired of reading how planet x 'ruined' magneto's character. Read the entire Morrison story, its all there as to why he was acting the way he was.
As for which character, I would still probably say xorn. The special class scenes where we really got hints that not all was right with mr xorn are classics in my book. Cassandra is way up there too. Morrison just took it off the charts with that run. Classic after classic. He is dearly missed. Carey's run showed initial promise but recently its the same ol xmen trash. Hopefully one day Morrison will return to xmen and we can see it done right again.

I loved Beak and Angel. I thought they had so much potential. They could have been the next Cyclops and Jean Grey.
I liked Fantomex because I loved the idea that EVA flew out of his mouth and that he fed her chocolates until she became big and strong.
Cassandra Nova was awesome because she was pure evil. Most of the X-Men villians are too watered down. And then as Ernst and HCT future Cassandra she was really nice and had a good sense of humor.
I loved the fight in the womb too.
I also loved Quentin Quire. I thought it was cool that he had powerful yet subtle telepathic powers and a see through mind. I liked how he was a disenfranchised youth who questioned Xavier's authority and led a hate crime on humans and a school riot.
I even liked Quentin in Endsong even though having him being not corporal and having tk was kinda dumb, especially since he had secondary mutated into a Phoenix and died and went to the WHR in New X-Men. lol
Xorn as a fictional character that Magneto created that also represented his good side without him realizing it, was brilliant too.
xorn87
10-28-2007, 01:29 PM
Quentin knew something was up though. When he was in Hank's lab he said "what if the real enemy is inside?" I think he meant Magneto.
Does anyone think Maggott would have been cool if he was done by Morrison and Quitley?

I miss Beak. He teenage awkwardness and slow but steady evolution into a hero was one of the run's best aspects.
Nova is the best new X-villain of the decade, I'd like more appearances from her.
Fantomex is awesomeness incarnate, so whenever he blesses us with his presence you should be damn happy.
Quintin Quire was misguided and short sighted, but his tragic fall from grace (backed by his need to be loved and wanted) was really heart breaking. Although I think it works better with him being dead/part of the Phoenix Force.
Xorn was the best new mutant in a long ass time, but that makes his reveal to be Magneto even more powerful. "YOU FILLED ALL OUR LIVES WITH LIES!" and all that jazz, and his dialog is even better in retrospect, like when he's captured by the Shi'ar. "WHAT IS THIS WORLD OF LIARS!?" LOL whatever you say, Mags.

Cassandra Nova was indeed a great villain who could definitely work in more stories. Though honestly, I wouldn't be very excited about seeing anyone else on that list again. I liked them well enough and thought they served the story well in Morrison's run, but I don't think any of them would bring much to the table at this point.
Special mention for the Cuckoos, who I still like, and Fantomex because he sucks.

He's actually stated in interviews that it's Shorn, which makes sense given the language the name comes from. The Z pronunciation is incorrect, though. It's not really open to interpretation, but you're certainly free to mispronounce it.
