I'm really starting to hate MySpace. I enjoyed it when I first joined, but now, even my own ad on there annoys me. And there's sooo much spam. I'm thinking of deleting my stupid ad on there...and actually trying to make an effort to, ya know, talk to real people in person instead.

I get the same.

The solution is to make people know your email or name before adding you as a friend.

Which is tempting, but I don't want to make it difficult for real people to add me.

This is a concern of mine.

I see something funny posted, or a reference I get and appreciate and don't always respond. I figure I should only respond with something clever. Otherwise why ruin the original post?

But does the poster want to know that his post was appreciated?

Happened with Michael today. I finally thought of something kinda cute and said it, but I almost just said Ha! to his crack about the chosen one.

Blah.

pffft. I respond to funny posts all the time. And usually, it's not a clever response. It's just a "Ha!", or perhaps a "that was good", even a "LOL!". Stop putting so much pressure on yourself! You don't have to be clever all the time...

I created a myspace account for the ass-backwards reason of talking to a girl I already knew in real life. Figured there was less possibility of rejection than if I'd asked for her phone number.

"Hey, you're on myspace too? Wow, what a small world. Coincidences sure are fun, huh?"

Tell anyone that trys to add you to sent a message right after theyve done it, then read and see if A) they know you anyway or b) they've actually taken the time to look at your page, if either of these happens, then I'd accept a request. If I don't personally know you or you cant be arsed spending 5 minutes finding out what bands I like then your a myspace whore who wants to have 50,000 friends (one of my actually friends is one of these:rolleyes: )

There is an option that requires them to know your last name or e-mail when sending a friend request. It stopped the bots cold.

OOPS; See Coke & Comics already told you that.

Call me crazy, but I personally get a kick out of when I look at my friend requests and they all are spaced one minute apart, all have different names, but all show the same girl in their pic. makes me laugh everytime. also, in my emails, according to some girl name "Par!s" I really need to get on m~s~n. :p

MySpace cheapens the meaning of the word "friend" beyond belief. In real life, I've got a lot of friendly acquaintances. But when I need help, like on moving day, or when my car breaks down, or similar situations, I've got maybe a dozen or so people that I can really rely on. Those are real friends.

Do I have to point out the irony of reading this on an internet message board?

I have over six hundred friends on My Music Page. Not only have I lived a few different places and have re-connected with a lot of old friends, but I add a lot of bands and stuff too. And I'm happy to say I'm porn star free.

I don't get Facebook, the interface isn't very friendly. Its tough (and most of the time impossible) to browse random profiles, every profile looks the same, and all of the options seem to bog it down instead of enhance it. I've had a tough time finding people of Facebook. Not a problem with Myspace.

I promised that I would never, ever get one, but my mind just wandered one day, and now I have one. I JUST made it not too long ago, so there is still work to be done on it when I have time, like pictures, friends, videos, ect.

I don't have one. If I ever get one, Jeff Brady is under standing orders to kill me.

So you're saying if I wanted you dead, I should make a Myspace page with your info and picture?

And Jeff Brady would be the prime suspect?

Just hypothetical, of course.

Funny. A monkey with a shotgun is exactly how I pictured you.

You might want to either change the background pic or the font color. Can't read a damn thing.

Love you too.

Funny. You're the only one that complained about that. Hm.....

Still a work in progress, but this is what I've got so far. Just need pics and to find more friend addresses at school and from back in Maine.

I like what Emily Dickinson said about MySpace:

"I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us — don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.

"How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!"
