John Layman wrote a great Remy Lebeau. His approach reminded me of TAS Gambit, meaning he was FUN as opposed to the current emo nonsense.
Issue #10 is definitely my fave.
Here's a small plot summary from X-Axis
After three of the kids are found cheating on a maths test, Shadowcat decides that they need guidance from a reformed thief, and dumps them on Gambit. Evidently she doesn't know him very well. (But then, they've spent virtually no time on the same team together, so why should she?)
Of course, Gambit's idea of how to deal with thieving brats is rather different. He couldn't give a toss. If they want to steal, let them. All Gambit cares about is whether they do it with style.
:cool:REMY!
I've started the most important thread in the history of mankind.
This is going to save lives.
EDIT: I can't stop looking at my own thread. It's beautiful.

I prefered Nicieza's Gambit to Layman's. I thought Layman's was too cartoonish. Though he did include zombies. That rocked.

Well, it was better than the previous series, that's for sure.
Something about that cover just doesn't click right with me though.
MODS plz pin thread.

Nice to see Nicieza posting under the guise of Nachturne. Who else could love his work more then Layman's?

But dude, motorcycles are badass. Looking at that cover makes me feel like a man.

The cover looks more like a full page spread than an actual cover.

I found Nicieza and Skroce's Gambit entertaining.

It wasn't a bad book, but it was pretty much the same old same old with Gambit. If there was ever a character that needed to cut all ties to the X-Men, Gambit is it.

Jim Lee is the BEST, when it comes to drawing Gambit. :D But if I'm going to choose a writer right now, who'll write Gambit, I'll pick Fabian Nicieza. He has specifically stated in his interviews more than once that he likes Gambit. He even said he wish he had been involved in UXM # 350, so that they wouldn't have ruined Gambit's backstory by involving him in the mutant massacre.
