I'm hearing talk of a new mutant threat appearing in Messiah Complex called Predator X, yest I know nothing about him/it?

Can anyone provide a bit of info on this guy?

William Stryker found out about the baby by checking the info Nimrod gave him, and paid the facility to create a monster that would hunt and eat mutants. Which is what Predator X is.

I dunno, a biological weapon created out of the stolen cells of a cast member? I think that's pretty cool.

'Course, it makes little sense (for the writers) to have something like Predator X when there are so few mutants around.

The only positive about Pred X is that that storyline revealed wierd properties to Mercury's powers and helped me formulate a theory:

I think Mercury's hand bonded with Nimrod when it was cut off just like the tissue sample tried to bond with the lab assistant. That's where his repair and reconfiguration capabilities came from and why Nimrod couldn't fix himself while Stryker had him.

His name is bad, anything with an "X" in the end of it makes it more lame than cool.

But all in all it seems like an interesting threat, IMHO.

Even if the creature ends up being amazing, it will always deserve at least a little mocking for the name.

Predator X horrified the world when it killed Mammomax, the best new villain of the last five years.

Thus, we must destroy it. Slowly and painfully.

I giggled when that happened. Sorry, insensitive, I know. But we know that everyone's favourite mutant pachyderm will return triumphantly in Uncanny #500.

I liked the idea of Predator X in the Mercury Falling arc, but I'd rather they'd just tied it up there. It seems there are more than enough villains in MC already.

Predator X is all Joe Quesada's hype turned into silly toilet humor without the humor. You are wrong. Quesada had nothing to do with the creation of this concept.
It was created in New X-Men and has been leading up to be in Messiah CompleX since its first appearance.

We have been told that Predator X will be a major threat. Nothing humorous about it.

He's the future breakout star of the X-books, and a principal character in X-Queeze Me?! a new mini-series featuring a rag-tag team of heroes with ridiculous names investigating a serial killer of other characters with ridiculous names.

The tough-as-nails misfit mash-up of:

Other than being two words, the second of which is "X", and being X-Men villains, Mutant X and Predator X have nothing in common.

One's a reality-warping wanker whose Mama MacTaggart couldn't get him over his Daddy issues and got punched through the heart by Colossus.

The other is a slathering, giant hound of a monster with tracking abilities, the ability to regenerate from nearby matter. Which, it was wounded near a part of Mercury, and why it's metal now.

Now that we've cleared that up... you were never good at the game on Sesame Street when they played, "One of these things is not like the other things..." I'd wager.

Hmmm.... A feral creature that seems to be strong and basically a big mutant dog... A mutant boy whose power is so powerful that it degrades his own body, and the body of anybody he inhabits thereafter.

Yeah, they're just SOOOO totally similar. Oh wait, no they aren't, only their names are similar, and at that, only that it's <noun> X. Sure, the name ain't original or even that great, but to suggest that Predator X is a rip off of Mutant X/Proteus is...well...UTTERLY ridiculous and without merit.

Why exactly did they need Mercury's skin to give to the monsters to begin with? Seems kinda odd they'd give liquid metal powers to something that couldn't fully use the powers. It's not like the things are smart enough to make stabby weapons out of it beyond the usual animal claws and given that they're flesh and bone underneath, it's not like it helps getting past obstacles.

For starters it gave it regenerative powers. X-23 would cut it, and it would heal thanks to the skin.
