I was looking back on the early history of Captain Cold and believe he had the following chronology.

Showcase #8 (1957): Introduction
Flash #114 (1960)
JLofA # 5
JLofA # 40
Flash #129: With the trickster
Flash #130
Flash #134
Flash #140: Intro Heatwave
Flash #150
Flash #155: With Rogues
Flash #166: with Heatwave
Flash #174
Flash #193
Flash #226
Flash #243
Flash #244
JLofA # 129
JLofA # 139
Secret Society of Supervillains #1-6

Comments:

1. I was suprised how many stories (3-4?) feature a lovesick Captain trying to impress a woman. (either Iris West, Dreamgirl, Maharahjee, etc... )

2. He had a good run as a Temperature twin with Heatwave.

3. In the 70s, he seemed busy with the Secret Society and an interesting story in Justice League of America #139 where he teams up with other cold themed villains.

4. He came out 1-2 years before the Batman villain Mr. Zero (later to be known as Mr. Freeze).

5. I think the Flash issues of #243-244 where the Top dies is a good look at the Rogue's Gallery. I do not have any earlier issues where the Rogue's Gallery teamed up. Can anyone provide a synopsis or two?

I feel the Captain may be one of the top 3 or 5 villains in the DC Universe (Obviously Lex Luthor and Joker at 1 and 2). I am surprised that they have not catalogued his stories into a trade like "The Greatest Captain Cold Stories ever told". I think there is enough content to provide one.

Dunno, just on a Captain Cold kick. If anyone out there has read any of these earlier issues and has comments, I would like to hear.

First off, I'd like to say that Capt. Cold is one of my favorite DC villains. I personally think that he's up there with the top tier of Flash villains (along with Capt. Boomerang, Gorilla Grodd and a few others).

With that being said, I really don't think that DC will be putting out a collection for him anytime soon. Unlike Lex Luthor and the Joker (both of whom are known to the general public and have had many incarnations outside of comics), the only thing that the Captain has going for is being a member of the Legion of Doom back in Challenge of the Super Friends

I've never read one, but I always wondered if there was a storyline with both Mr. Freeze and Captain Cold.

If not, there is a Brave and the Bold storyline waiting to happen.

No, but he did team up with fellow cold-themed baddies The Icicle and Minister Blizzard in Justice League of America #139.

I summon the closest approximation!

I never read any Captain Cold stories that I can recall, but I just get the impression that he's a weak B-list villian, just as Dr. Light might have been until revamped and re-upped by the Identity Crisis.

Captain Cold was a pretty major Flash villain, pre-Crisis. I guess you could argue that all of Flash's rogues were "B-List", but just based on how often he turned up, Cold has to be considered pretty high up there.

Of course, nowadays, you can't be considered a "top villain" without at least a few rapes and genocides to your name...
