Am I the first one? I hope so. :D

Well, guys, you've made a great job. As I said at another thread, IMHO you deserve better, but that's the game. I wish you luck, and looking forward to hear from you soon!

My girlfriend thinks DLF is pretty hot. I rate him pretty highly as well: a great draftsman and a gentleman to boot. He should've gone further but he'll do fine: talent will out!

Same goes for Warren. Great storyteller, fun style and a really cool dude.

Cheers guys. You were awesome!

You're both tops in my book. Thanks for turning up the heat and making this a pulse-pounding race to the finale. The offers should start pouring in soon so get ready! Save a copy for me!

Daniel Lafrance is great, when I saw his samples I just thought: this guy is already a pro, what is he doing here???? But maybe his first assignment wasn't satisfying enough to the public so he had to leave... too bad, I really thought he was going to be one of the tops!

Warren, to be true you wasn't one of my favorites here hehe but all 10 contestants are just awesome, way better than many people that are making tons of money doing terrible work. Anyway, I wish you both all the best, it's still only the beginning, I hope I'll see a lot of work from you in the future! This just wasn't the time!

Well this sucks. You guys both have some wonderful portfolios that are going to get yall far. Definitely hit up ChesterQuest as it looks like a grand oppurtunity. Yall deserve more than this half-hearted goodbye. I wish you the best and I hope the exposure from the contest opens doors for you both.

All the best,
nick

Congratulations for the effort, guys! I'd rather see you art in books than a good number of people already working, if that means anything...

Dammit! With Warren gone now I'm the only one growing this damn itchy beard!! Warren your portfolio was actually my favorite of all of the finalists, I'm a big fan and I hope that you'll continue working on sequentials because it's there man, sincerely.

Daniel - all I can say is Vive Lafrance!!

I hope both of you will follow along on the Play At Home so the rest of us can get to see what a huge bullet we dodged.

I had wanted to vote for Daniel Lafrance, but I knew my vote wouldn't save him from getting eliminated. All the best to you Daniel. I'll be checking out your website for anything new that you do. You've got some prime skills

Daniel, your opening panel was just beautiful, best of the bunch.
Warren, your first shot of Aspen was the closest to Michael Turner's look of the character, very nice.

THANKS for a Grand effort put forth by both of you.:D

I was already familiar with Daniel's work from the Drawing Board forum, and I think he's extremely talented. I'm sure the exposure he got here will bear fruits for him very soon (if it has not already). I'm sad to see him go, as he was one of my top three on this round, but the guy's in great shape, we'll be seeing a lot from him.

Didn't know Warren's work before this competition, but he did some great pages, as well!

Best of luck and much comic book work to you both, you guys totally deserve it.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I guess it was pretty obvious I had a hard time with the first script, haha, so keep an eye for me in the 'play-at-home' thread 'cause I have some redeeming(is that how you say it?) to do.;) :D

First of all, thanks to J. Torres and the CBI 3 crew for arranging this great opportunity to gain some exposure for up and comers in this industry. And J., after reading 'The Complete Copybook Tales' (http://comicsworthreading.com/2006/11/01/the-complete-copybook-tales/), it's clear to me that you haven't forgotten what it's like on the other side of the fence. Especially thank you to Brandon for staying up all night to count up the running tallies! And I know the judges are totally busy in ways I can't imagine, so thank you all for taking the time to participate and give thoughtful crits.

The judges crits were what I expected: fair, balanced, professional and honest. I'll be internalizing all the points as I do my revisions to suit as many of the notes as I can. I find it's the best way for me to internalize the points made.

Considering I've done a grand total of 9 pages of comic book pages EVER I never expected to even be considered in the T10 and was fully expecting to be amid the Play At Home thread. So this was amazing to be included in that super-talented pack of 10! Thank you to whomever it was in the selection committee who deemed me worthy!

To give you an indication of where I thought I was in terms of skill and familiarity to the comics format, I ordered a correspondence course from Joe Kubert's World of Cartooning (the Pencilling one) before I even found out I would be competing. So, armed with the great critiques from here, plus the course, you can expect to see my name around from time to time. My commitments in television animation keep me hopping and got in the way of me doing my best work under the circumstances surrounding this contest, but I'll be poking my head into the Play At Home rounds as deadlines permit!

Advice to anyone even submitting work to the prelims: CLEAR THE ROAD BEFORE YOU APPLY. Because you never know.:D :D :D :D

GOOD LUCK TO THE REMAINING 8!! It's a great show!

best of luck to you daniel and warren (goodluck with the Joe Kubert's World of Cartooning training)! it was great seeing you guys at the final10, and we know this wont be the last time we read your names. keep raising that canadian flag high and proud!!!

oh, and my girlfried Soleil (who's become pretty much a regular visitor of these parts) wants to extend her best wishes to both you gentlemen...(she actually rooted for daniel a lot!:)
