There are few who I think would appreciate this more than y'all: my new, very mignoly Crab Table

Nope. Have you seen something similar there?

Very cool. That would have to go down into my ManTown. The wife would never let that upstairs. Got anything in a monkey-theme?

Honestly, if I were to combine the table with Jakenstein's tentacularly awesome couch, I would feel obligated to amputate a leg or poke out an eye.

Coincidentally, I truly appreciate any ladies (a la Sparky) who love this table as it was an issue with my GF at first. At first.

I was unable to locate any Monkey Tables.

I have yet to find out anything more about the ol' pincer plateau (e.g. origin, value, wood type), only that I love him and he is heavy.

Looks like it once may have had chairs

Holy crap, the chairs are even better!

It says they are teak. Perhaps from Indonesia?

I MUST HAVE THEM

We could have a crabby tea party!

This post reminds me of the wagon wheel table incident in When Harry Met Sally. :)

That table is awesome. I was going to say that it looks like it was carved from a single piece of solid teak, but David has beaten me to it with his expertise. It's quite an amazing piece when you consider all of the labour that went into it (and the fact that you can't get teak like that any more, at least not legally).

Yeah, too bad you couldn't get the whole set! (Though your GF is probably relieved that you didn't). :)

If those were in a Mignola or Davis comic book they would scuttle around.

I would put big brass casters under one of those chairs and roll around the house in it plotting to take over the world, like a crab Davros (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davros).

Crab Davros, sounds delicious!
also a good band name

You know, you can't get them from a toilet seat, but I bet you can get them from those chairs!

My first thought was that Sparky had gone into furniture making until she posted otherwise. Nice catch.

Feed it plenty of algae along with table scraps or it won't keep its shine.

Oh I imagine she's tinkering around in her workshop right now with a huge piece of wood and some casters.

It did give me some ideas!

But I have to finish my zeppelin ejection seat first.

Maija
10-19-2007, 12:39 PM
You mean you're not just going to make a crab-shaped zeppelin ejection seat? Can't you see how "crab-shaped" just made "zeppelin ejection seat" a million times more awesome than it already was? Spring-loaded legs!! When you hit the ground you can scuttle to safety!! It's genius I tell you!!

Maija

Oh shit I really want a crustacean-themed zeppelin with a crab-shaped ejection seat so badly now.

I'll also accept a Guy Davis drawing of said contraption.

And/or a theme song by the Jazz Butcher, Pat Fish (http://www.jazzbutcher.com/htdb/lyrics/my_zeppelin.html).

It could come with a huge wrench for cracking, and a flask of tartar sauce and Old Bay Seasoning -- emergency rations. "Seat cushion is not only a flotation device, but filled with tasty crab."

nom nom nom

now I want Maryland crabcakes darnit

Don't forget the lemon wedges. And tequila. :D

It really doesn't get any better than arthropod dirigibles...unless it can turn into a coffee table betwixt flights (im not familiar with Davros but I like the idea of appetizers with delivery vehicles).

P.S. what is a 'nom'?
