Grrrr, that dead boy better not be Connor Hawke! But is it a bad sign that they are soliciting the Connor Hawke mini's TPB at the same time? *fumes*

Looks like Roy.
Anyway, odds are it's either Mia or Connor.

No one said anyone was dead. Just that it's a tragedy. ;) Maybe they lost an arm?

Wait, so Ollie survived?
Anyway, it's quite obviously Snapper Carr. And everyone's bummed because Ollie won the 'Throttle Snapper With A Bag Full Of Limequick' raffle, and not them.
Seriously, the inclusion of Nightwing in back makes me afraid for Roy.

Yeah, apparently the person Dinah killed was Everyman, and Granny Goodness's Nu-Amazons captured Ollie and are holding him on Paradise Island.

Anyway, good riddance.

If you bitch about death in comics, shock solicitations, and overbearing tragedy, but buy this book anyway, you're contributing to the vacuum of suck that are mainstream comics!

Could be Dinah.
You know, it hurts to see/feel that Dinah is not in such good hands. :(
I think that having a major death tease for the second arc in a row is a little stupid. Find some new shtick! Maybe with the addition of Dinah (and yes, rather than a true "team up" book, I think that even though her name's now in the title, it's just a continuation of the Green Arrow comic, plus Dinah), Winick may want to whittle down the cast of characters. Kind of makes you wonder what kind of horror might've befallen Sin, had she not been written out by Bedard in the Black Canary mini...

Oh well. There's a DCU that can live in memories in my head that can't touched, where all my favorite characters can remain alive and intact. Look, up in the sky, is that Shayera Thal, Hawkwoman? And over there, Tyler the Hourman! And here comes Connor Hawke now with his trusty bow. It's a beautiful dream.

I'm a Connor fan so feel free to call "reaching" here. But two thing stand out in this image.
One - Nightwing is there. He is pretty outta place unless the death in the foreground is Roy Harper then we have some sense.
Two - If you look at the overall coloring of the characters in the background you'll see that places we know are yellow (like on the Flash and Black Lightning) match the hair shading on the character over Supermans shoulder. Connor is of course blonde.
Either death is just as senseless as all the others. I mean have Roy become Arsenal again and send Connor back to the monestary. Why is that so taboo at DC nowadays?

The hand sillhouette in the foreground looks weird. Think the person is holding something?
Bah. Death is losing its shock value in the DCU. What a bother.

I still have the first issue in my messenger bag, waiting to be read. I shouldn't have looked at the last page though because I don't have any interest in reading it now.
As much as I love Black Canary, I don't think I'll be picking this series up.

If you love Black Canary, that's just one more reason not to pick up this series. Don't contribute to the perpetuation of bad writing, especially when said bad writing ruins a perfectly good character like Dinah.

Oh I completely agree. It's why I didn't get the issues of Green Arrow just because she was in it.
I didn't have a change to read the last Justice League yet to see how she is in there.

Don't bother. It's a pretty lackluster series as it is, but if you're going in solely for some Canary, it's even less worth it. McDuffie's done some good with her character so far, but I don't know how long that'll last, since he's in the process of shaking up the line-up completely.

At least they shitcanned their Wonder Woman/Dr. Light ongoing. "What? People love rapists! Did you see the sales on Identity Crisis? This is obviously Wonder Woman's fault. No wonder Warner Bros. trashed any and all movie possibilities for her."

Then you'd think he'd have waited until AFTER the marital consummation sex to kill.
Then we'd have to deal with "Black Canary was raped!" all over again. You can always pretend that the villains were worried that Dinah would realize that it wasn't Ollie mid-sex so they told him to do it before they did the deed..

Well, when you aren't shoving swords down Dinah's mouth, what else can you do to create a buzz for your title besides feigning deaths and killing off characters every third issue?
Before we get overly critical, remember that even Kevin Smith blew Connor's brains out. Granted he didn't die, but it was still a shock value. The difference however is quite stark. Kevin Smith didn't HAVE to couch his stories in shock value. They were solid throughout.

Nope. I find it the most nauseatingly overused (http://comiccoverage.typepad.com/comic_coverage/2007/04/comic_book_cove.html) classic art homage in comics. Heck, it is even one the most nauseatingly overused comic-book cover concepts of all time.

Yeah, you may be right there. Yow. But on the other hand, when it looks like so many ... not ALL of them, so many of the artists on comics today don't seem to know the basics of anatomy ... well, maybe we're all better off if they're copying from the classics. Maybe some of it will rub off on them. The new JLA with McDuffie ... that artist ... some of his heroes are so musclebound, it really detracts from the art as I'm always wondering how the person could even walk with that physique. Someone at the big two needs to have some of their artists study classical art because I can't help but feel like, instead of going to art school, several of these guys learned art by copying other comic book artists.
BTW ... my favorite cover on that list was the Death of Captain Marvel one.
You guys remember THIS (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=130692&highlight=scavenger) thread? The talk about homages reminded me of it. Just a flashback for some of you here.
I think I'll give this series a few more issues, and then ... I dunno. I'm just not on fire for it. It's bad enough that, as Jack said, it's pretty lackluster. It's even worse that they're tying it into Amazons Attack, sorta. I can't help but suspect that DC is gonna make everyone like that series, whether we want to or not.

I'm not so sure about that. It would be fair to guess that a good number of comic artists are aping the pose from other comic artists (especially going by all the Perez tributes at the link). In any case I think the pose's overuse has been completely destroyed in terms of its effectiveness as far as comic covers go, even if Cliff Chiang did go back to the original. (But the cover still recalls Perez with the JLA members in the back looking mournful.)

I suppose it's too much to hope for Marvel to go for One: Number 31, 1950 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Pollock31.jpg). And have it be an accurate description of what happens to their universe.
