I don't know if it matters to anyone else, but I came across this (and will vouch for the one in South River, NJ at least, for being true).

Huh. Well, the ones they have for Anderson Township in Ohio are dead-on. Neat site.

The only place I would feel certain has a speedtrap is King City, and they list that.

I think the city's main source of revenue is motorists who haven't seen another car, let alone a city in an hour and aren't paying attention to their speed.

Without even clicking on the link, I know Lindale, OH has to be on there. They have a stretch of I-71 just south of Cleveland that is only a quarter-mile long (they don't even have an exit) and the city makes millions of dollars in speeding ticket money each year. It's something like 40% of the city's annual budget. The state actually tried to outlaw their speed trap by introducing a law that states you have to have an entrance or exit ramp in your city to patrol the freeway, but I think it got overturned by the state supreme court.

I knew it!!! I travel these roads all the time (Route 41 and 22) and I see cops "hiding" sometimes. Bastards!

In THE FUTURE, someone will make a GPS navigation suite with a button you push whenever you see a cop looking for speeders. A computer algorithm will mine this data and determine the location of frequent speed traps. Then it can vocally tell drivers when to slow down.

At least until some asshole politician outlaws such a thing. But hey, it would get people to stop speeding, and that's the real purpose of speeding tickets, right?

Ohio speedtraps REPRESENT!

North Hampton's another bad one. Until the state made them take the signs down, two residents (one on each side of town) had big "SPEED TRAP AHEAD" signs made out of Christmas lights.

Why is it illegal to report on the location of speed traps?

I don't remember all the legal jibber jabber, but the main drag is a state highway, so I suppose it's possible that the state had some legal recourse. It's been at least seven or eight years, so the details are kind of murky.

For the 10 minutes it takes to notice, pass, and get out of range of the trap, sure.

No, in the future traffic cameras will be placed every hundred yards.

Do all states allow cops to use radar to track speed?

I had a conversation with woman from Washington State about ten years ago and she indicated that speed traps were a Canadian thing. She said something charming like "We have a little thing called freedom where I live".

It's usually laser now, but yes. The woman was even more charming than you thought.
