Not only does he have mad skillz (drawing and sequentials), but he also makes me smile.

YES! Much love to Adam Hughes. I really hate it when people down on him for being a "cheescake artist" as if that's some crime. One of my all-time favorites of his is a Star Wars Classics cover he did for Dark Horse of "slave" Leia with Jabba (really wish I had a scan I could post!). Anyone who can deny the talent of a comic book artist that can make Leia that sexy while still looking like Carey Fischer has got to be high on crack!

I´m not yet sold on his writing skills (I´m waiting for ASWW) but once you get past the cheesecake label, the guy is nothing short of amazing. He pencils, inks, colors (his colors are to DIE for) AND his storytelling skills are some of the best I´ve seen out there.

I don't fault him. I fault DC for soliciting it so early. As far as I'm concerned, the longer he takes the better they'll probably be. As long as I'm still living, I will be THERE. Between Gail starting on WW soon and Hughes doing All-Star, It's about DAMN TIME Diana got the respect she deserves. Hopefully once it's all done, DC will have learned a valuable lesson...Fanboys would much rather see talented COMICS creators do important characters, than TV and novel writers ruini..err doing important characters.

Considering you posted it that quickly, It must have already been on your Hard Drive. Am I right or what in saying that is one of thee best Star Wars drawings of all-time!?
Do you know of any other Star Wars pics he's done? or any other drawings he's done of real actresses? Because he is simply AMAZING at getting peoples faces down. I mean check out how little lines he used, and yet how it still sooooo uncannily looks like Carry Fischer. He's just an amazing artist. I don't unashamedly GUSH like this over very many people. But Hughes is just amazing.

Yeah, I´ve got a Adam Hughes folder.
I got a folder for all the masters, from Charest to Civielo.
Here´s what I found depicting real people:

I think AH! is great at working from reference but the best part is he´s not bound by them, they´r just guidelines for him to create from.

Travis Charest I know. Who's Civielo? If he is on par with Hughes and Charest, I'm sorta embarrassed not to know!
I haven't seen many of those pics you posted before. Are some of those convention commissions?

I heart Adam Hughes. Not for the sweet art. Not for the boobies (although I love me some boobies). But for the exclamation point. AH! How fucking cool is that. He's in a class with Elliot S! Maggin and Scott! Fucking! Shaw!

I've always loved his art--he's just a damn good drawer, and an original. Calling him a good girl artist is like calling N.C. Wyeth a pirate artist--I always thought he really took Bill Sienkiewicz's whole 'Bob Peake'--thing to new levels and added his own vision and expressiveness, with slightly more realism.
I had a conversation with him at Dragon Con two years back--nice feller. I've known Brian Stelfreeze and Cully Hamner for a while, and usually talk to them with Adam close by. Been invited to Gaijin a few times, but never went--dunno if Adam is still with them, though--I heard he moved from here. He's good friends with my friends Clay and April.

Funny that DC hasn't solicted a darned thing, then.

Or have you seen a solicit that I haven't?

I saw Nicola Scott do some lovely art today re Wonder Woman, Nightwing and Huntress that was on a par with Hughsie.
Gail held her own too with some scintilatin' self portraits.
...Well, she captured her personality. :)

Hm. I have that album. That's a GREAT Willow and a good Xander but Buffy just looks off...
I don't know what it is but I've never seen a convincing likeness of Sarah Michelle Gellar. (The Diamond action figures came closest along with the recent Buffy cover of Faith strangling Buffy.) I've even seen some cover artists resort to photoshops and those never work for me either.
Is there something they're doing to her face to regularize it?
Some artists get the look but make it look wax. Some get the expressions but lose the likeness.
I dunno.
I also find it weird how no two artists draw Superman with the same hairline or bone structure. The closest it's been to consistency are when people emulate Ed McGuinness or Alex Ross. I remember somewhere Eddie Berganza told Phil Jimenez for Infinite Crisis that the most iconic portrayals have a flat head.
I'd probably defer to Curt Swan as much as possible with the round face, large forehead and small nose and lips planted low on his face. Or I do when I'm doodling. Sometimes Byrne comes out though.
I will say that one INCREDIBLE thing about Hughes' work is that he not only accomplishes a lot of realism and character but his characters all look distinct, unlike many of his imitators. I remember a cover he did for Wizard that had Supergirl, the Invisible Woman and Rogue on it, among others. And while I thought Supergirl's hair and expression looked funky compared to PAD's rather stern, somber Maid of Might, there were six or seven women, all with "idealized" physiques and yet every one of them had a distinct set of proportions, face and bone structure.
His work isn't "on model" with anybody else's generally (unless they're imitating him) but has a TREMENDOUS amount of character and energy. I see some of the best qualities of Cully Hamner and Bryan Hitch (who I think of as excelling two distinct sides of the spectrum) in Hughes' work.
I'm not sure I've seen a script that really capitalizes on Hughes' talent for comedy. Maybe bits and pieces, here and there. But comic book characters are a bit stoic by my standards, as a rule.
Time to shamelessly plug Adam Hughes website (http://www.justsayah.com/).
Oh and post this awesome pic of Baroness once more. :D

Yes, that is probably the coolest Baroness pic ever, which is why I never get tired of showing it.
As for where it came from. Crowley told me it was a commission piece, meant to be used as the cover for GI Joe #17, unfortunately they were unable to use it as a cover.

Actually, IMO, DC did the right thing in announcing ASWW when they did and saying it'll be solicited once it's done. Now they can build excitement, have Hughes supply a page or two of artwork as a tease to increase the want & desire.
One thing I love about Hughes though is that he's said he's not going to give DC the entire first issue until he's nearly done with the entire series. This way they can't solicit it. :D
Since we're talking cheesecake I found these in a Powergirl yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/powergirl2/?yguid=109799581), figured I should share them.
