I find things like this not worth getting upset over - since its only temporary. That being said, with Ed Brubaker writing I will buy it and enjoy it regardless of what I think of the 'idea' of a new cap in a new costume.
That being said when I first saw the image of the new Cap wielding a gun and knife my mind jumped to 'Union Jack'.
Did anyone else have that reaction?
I can't imagine Union Jack taking over for Cap - but I have always liked Union Jack so I can't say that thought didn't intrigue me.

I could see Union Jack with that although that's not where my mind went to, I went for the easy choice of Winter Soldier. Union Jack would be an intriguing way to go with it though. I mean, you know someone had to take over eventually, and the idea of the new guy using a different costume makes sense.
As for the design itself, it sounds like quite the collaboration between Bru, Ross, and Epting, so I'm okay with it. The design isn't that impressive, but it's hard to improve on the iconic Cap outfit.

YES! That was actually my first thought as well. I also think that I was heavily influenced by the Christos Gage WordBalloon podcast that I just listened to this week and he mentioned that Marvel had something planned for Union Jack. I think that the Winter Soldier is too obvious a choice right now.

I can't stand the shiny latex S&M look that's half-and-half with a jumpsuit look.
But, yeah, it's only temporary. So ::shrug::
I do like the gun and knife bit, though.
