Thanks all! I may not be able to get photos of the full get-up before Halloween because I'm currently limited to photgraphing myself in the mirror with my camera-phone. I'll definitely get a friend to photgraph me at some point though.
For the curious, my costume does vary a bit from the comic. My helmet is a combination of goggles, a leather aviator's helmet and a turtlenck while in the comic it appears Lobster Johnson's headgear is a one-piece item. My belt is also less elaborate both to save a bit of time and money and beause I figure these days wandering around with grenades (even fake ones) is a dicey idea.
Having pored over pictures of him I've also noticed that his belt changed between "The Killer in My Skull" and The Conqueror Worm; he went from a two-gun rig to just one, and the grenades got little bigger. He also stopped wearing his parachute; maybe the Lobster Plane got repossessed. (or with his adventures, just plain possessed...)

I think LJ's headgear is exactly what you have. I've never assumed it was a one piece.
Do try to get someone else to get a photo of you in the complete costume! Justice depends on it!

I assumed the same thing until I began closely studying the art in The Iron Prometheus (see e.g. issue 1, page 10, panel 5). However, given that he wears all back and hangs out in the shadows I could easily be wrong. Since probably 95%+ of the people who'll see me in the costume won't even know who the heck Lobster Johnson is I'm not sweating it too much. :)

I agree with everyone else, this looks fantastic! Can't wait to see a full pic.
Also, if you get asked by police why you're carrying grenades, don't tell them it's to inflict justice. Long story.

That looks great! And if you were to go trick-or-treating in such garb, be sure to print up some LoJo cards to leave at the stingy houses!

Have you worked out how you'll burn the Claw into peoples foreheads yet? :)
Looking good!

Very cool!
If you want to leave the mark of the claw, you could do a linocut, and glue it to the palm of your glove. Although, you'd have to carry around a red stamp pad.
"Justice!"

I'm a mite old for trick-or-treating...

Stickers.

I was just looking over the Shadow of the Claw teaser, and noticed that LJ isn't wearing a shirt. Must be his summer costume...

Interesting stuff, but will it be the sum of its parts, or will the parts be more interesting than the whole? More pics!! :)

Here's my Lobster Johnson costume. I wore it last week grenades and all and had no trouble. I have at least two more parties to go two so we'll see. It took me about two months of collecting materials and modifications, and I based it on the Electric Tiki statue almost completely. I'm having some better photos shot tomorrow.

Wow, looks like you did a heckuva lot of sewing there. I mostly relied on diligent shopping for appropriate items.
Maybe we should start a Lobster Johnson club with secret decoder rings and stuff...

People never realize how much paperwork is involved in superheroing. (I forgot to bring my goggles so I quickly made some out of some black paper).

HAHAHAHAHA! So apparently Lobster Johnson wears jodhpurs for when he has to be a desk jockey. :)
Both of your costumes are really great! It cheers me to know that there are Lobster Johnsons patrolling the streets of our world, meting out justice (and possibly candy). :)
