Me and my mate are planning on going to Oktoerfest next year. My first time abroad. Anyone got any tips, or want to tell me other places i should experience.

I was at Oktoberfest in 2001 for a mate's stag do, and bloody fantastic it was as well.
Memorable highlights included...
- travelling to the fest in taxi from the camp site and passing a shop that seemed to take up the entire stretch of the street. The shop was called "Erotikland"
- arriving at the fest and realising that the 14 beer tents that we'd all imagined were more like beer aircraft hangers that held about 20,000 people each.
- heading towards the nearest of these hangers and spotting a gentlemen releaving his guts just outside, before wiping his mouth and turning to us and saying in a thick Brummie accent "fuckin bostin' this place is lads."
It was about 11.30 in the morning.
- German women. Blimey. Charlie.
- Steins of beer.
Little tip. It took us about six hours to realise that we were the only ones draining our glasses. Most people seemed to drink all but the last inch of beer in their glasses, mainly because the beer can get quite warm. Still, by that stage we'd had about eight or nine each and quite frankly didn't care.
- the funfair. Much, much, much more fun when you're mullered.
- 12 pissed up english guys leaving the fest and heading in 12 different directions, but still managing to get back to a camp site over 30 miles away.
- playing porn Blankety Blank in Munich airport at 3 in the moring. "Lick my [blank] and I'll suck your [blank]". Blankety Blank, Blankety Blank.
A brilliant couple of days. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Book your accomodation early.
Like, now.
Munich sells out unbelievably quickly.
A mate of mine booked about 3 months ago and found himself 40 miles outside Munich!

A mate has just come back to tell tales of 12 hour drinking sessions & eating lots & lots of meat. Be warned, if you're veggie then you might struggle with finding food to eat in between steins.
