Oh, not at all.
Do they have any sort of... creamy topping?
I'd say it was more of a glaze.
If not, perhaps a gooey filling?

Well, it depends. On eBay, anywhere between $300 and $700 whenever it magically shows up. But on The Black Market (a little known underground geek black market created by Tony Isabella in the Seventies), it's going for two fresh kidneys or a white teenage girl. I need my kidneys, but I could probably find a white teenage girl that isn't worth a damn.

He hurts me so bad. :(
Some day boy you'll reap what you've sown.
You'll catch a cold and you'll be on your own,
And you will see that what's wrong with me
Is wrong with everyone that
You want to play your little games on.
Poetry and flowers pretty words and threats.
You've gone to the dogs again and i'm not placing bets
On you coming home tonight anything but blind.
If you take me for granted then you must expect to find
Surprise, surprise...
Valentine's day is over, it's over
Valentine's day is over
If you want to talk about it well you know where the phone is.
Don't come round reminding me again how brittle bone is.
God didn't make you an angel, the devil made you a man.
That brutality and economy are related now i understand.
When will you realise, that as above, so below there is no love
For the girl with the hour glass figure,
Time runs out very fast.
We used to want the same things but that's all in the past
And lately it seems that as it all gets tougher,
Your ideal of justice just becomes rougher and rougher.
Thank you for the things you bought me, thank you for the card.
Thank you for the things you taught me, when you hit me hard.
That love between two people must be based on understanding,
Until that's true you'll find your things
All stacked out on the landing, surprise, surprise
Valentine's Day is over.
It's over.
Valentine's Day is over. It's over.
It's
Over.

Never heard that song before.
The song I think about with abusive relationships is that one about Luka, who lives upstairs. (Is that susanne vega or something?)
Or Only women bleed by Alice Cooper

That's Billy Bragg. It's a humdinger of a song.
He doesn't have the best or most melodic voice, but he really gets the most out of it on that track.
And yup, 'Luka' is Suzanne Vega.
Alice Cooper rocks.

He's also one of the better interviews I've seen. Very intelligent, articulate and funny. He had a great interview on Denton ages ago where he was talking about losing one of the snakes he uses in his shows.
Basically, one of his guys left the toilet seat up while the snake was soaking in the bathtub and it escaped into the plumbing of a hotel.
He was on tour at the time, so they couldn't stick around. So, he let the hotel know and ask if they could call him if the snake re-appeared.
A couple of days later, he gets a call, "Good news is, your snake's re-appeared. The bad news is, I don't think Johnny Cash is ever gonna be the same."

Patrick saw the cover of a local comic by that name which looked like a Batman clone, and thought it'd make a funny strip. Unfortunately, the writer saw it as a personal attack on his creation and took offense.
It was all very, very silly.

For me, I'm a big fan of the body-horror and prosthetic monster movies of the 80s. So I'd recommend some of the obvious ones like "The Thing", "Videodrome", "The Fly", "From Beyond", "Re-Animator" and the '88 Blob remake.
Session 9 is a pretty effective psychological horror movie, even despite David Caruso's every attempt to bring it down.

I honestly prefer Day to Dawn, because at least in that one, the terrible performances are fun, and there's some amazing gore effects. I respect Dawn, to an extent, but there's writing in that movie that's so awful, and it drags so much in certain parts, that I find it almost unwatchable. I think Night is far and away the best of the "Dead" series, and the less said about Land, the better.

Hmm, Final Destination comes across as more of a Mousetrap game as a movie, than anything else.
Yeah Scream is awesome, plus if you watch the second one, you can see me in the credits.
I love The Ring(American version) and Blair Witch myself, so obviously I have horrible taste.
The original Nightmare on Elm Street is cool and they kill off Johnny Depp.
Similarly, the first Friday the 13th kills off Kevin Bacon.
Also, I thought 1408 was pretty good, and in the upper pantheon of Stephen King movies.

The remake is a fun zombie movie, but it's not particularly good. It also strips away whatever little relevance and character there was in the original, so I don't consider it a particularly good remake, either.

What about The Howling, American Werewolf in London, and even for campiness Silver Bullet?
I haven't seen THE HOWLING in forever.
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, I hadn't considered. I think how funny it is keeps me from forgetting that it's also horror--kind of like the CREEPSHOW films.
I've never heard of SILVER BULLET.

Definitely agree about the gore effects in Day, but I find Dawn to be much more entertaining. And I haven't even seen Land or the Dawn remake.

I was a lowly location production assistant. And you have to watch pretty damn far into the credits to see my name. However, during one of the cast and crew parties, Sarah Michelle Gellar actually agreed to go to a movie with me.

I think the message helps Night, and makes Dawn more interesting. Day is great just for the splatter kills and insane lines like "All you're givin' me is a mouthfull of Greek salad!" and "I'M RUNNIN' THIS MONKEY FARM NOW, FRANKENSTEIN!", but Romero's tapped that well so dry. Land is just so heavy handed and dumb.

I was on set for that one, too. Peter Hyams and his wife are old friends of my mother and her sister, so when they came to the museum in Chicago to film we got to be on set.
To tie it back to an old conversation, we spent most of the night talking to Mrs. Hyams, and I was apparently regaling her with my movie(trivia) knowledge. So when they broke for dinner and we were sitting with Peter, his wife mentions how much I knew about movies, and he says "So what is the piano player's last name in Casablanca?" Surprisingly, neither he nor his AD knew either.
Ed, I know you appreciate me getting stuck in that situation.
Another story that came out of that night, their son was in film school in LA, where they lived also. It was just about Xmas time, and their son called and asked if a friend who couldn't afford to go home could come and stay with them and go to their party. The friend was asked to do some video-taping during the party. Turns out the friend was Bryan Singer. So they now have a Christmas party filmed by him.

Somehow the only thing I can ever think of isn't even very good. And I bet they never bothered with a DVD. But I saw it a bunch of times. Nomads. It's more suspense than horror. There's very little blood. With Pierce Brosnan and Adam Ant. It's just sort of weird.

What would be your top picks. I'm now really into this idea of having a season appropriate horror flick night. So, if you (or anyone else) have any other recommendations on top of the Combs films, I'd appreciate it.
I'm more of a classics/monsters/thrillers/noir (I know it's a genre in-and-of-itself, but can noir be considered a sub-genre of horror?) than a violently gory/torture porn horror fan.
Re-Animator and From Beyond, easily. The Frighteners is good, as well.

Not so much horror as side looks at the vampire genre, try Innocent Blood. Robert Logia has a great part in that. Oh, and I've heard things about Blood and Donuts, but never seen it.
That's the one with Don Rickles too right? That was a horrible movie! Except for Don Rickles.
My favorite vampire movie is Near Dark. Although I haven't seen it since about 1992. Hopefully it holds up. That was a cult classic for us in college.

"Necronomicon"(if you can find it)
"House on Haunted Hill"
"Horror in the Attic"
"From Beyond"

Well, we had watched Number 23 before it, so compared to that pile of dreck, 1408 is a masterpiece.
I said it earlier but in the pantheon of good King movies, Shining, Misery, Green Mile, Shawshank, Carrie, and IT(tv movie), 1408 really holds up.

There's a thread on the TV/Film board about Halloween movies (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=192341).
The Descent and Behind the Mask both get mentioned there and I completely agree with those suggestions. Descent doesn't even need the monsters because the claustrophobia is scary enough, but the monsters don't take away the scary for me. Behind the Mask is a great movie, and I like the different film styles used to capture classic horror movie, news footage, and documentary styles. I met the director, composer, and one of the actors last year when it showed at SXSW. Nice guys, and the director said Behind the Mask does share some qualities that Man Bites Dog has, but it's not a direct inspiration.

See, I really didn't like Descent, because of the monsters. Everyone was hyping it as a female Deliverance, but there were no "creatures" in that, the monsters were human. They easily could have gone this same route in Descent, but chose the easy way out, IMO.

The monsters were human in this one too. At least, one of them was. I think part of the point was to provide a contrast. It could be considered a nature versus (immediate) nurture set-up.

My all-time favorite "pure" horror films:
- NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968)
- DAWN OF THE DEAD (both original & remake are pretty good)
- THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE (original)
- HALLOWEEN
- THE EVIL DEAD
- THE SHINING
- POLTERGEIST
- THE THING (1982)
- THE EXORCIST
I'm REALLY, REALLY looking forward to Frank Darabont's adaptation of Stephen King's THE MIST this November too.

I wish that was coming out in time for Halloween. The audio book is great. It's performed with a full cast, sound effects, and incorporates audio in a way where it sounds like things are creeping around you as you listen, especially if you have surround sound or listen with headphones on.
Only horror movies I know that are coming are Saw IV and 30 Days of Night. Not interested in Saw IV, but 30 Days looks good and scary. Not decided yet if I'll try to go to one of the special screenings at the Alamo (http://www.originalalamo.com/default.aspx?l=4&d=10/31/2007) yet.

Maybe. It's a pretty common trope in horror fiction. The devolution of man by taking him out of his natural environment. I don't know. It's still a pretty decent, pretty scary movie. You're criticizing it based on what you personally wanted it to be, not based on what it was.

Save me from drowning in the sea
Beat me up on the beach
What a lovely holiday
Theres nothing funny left to say
This sombre song would drain the sun
But it won't shine until its sung
No water running in the stream
The saddest place we've ever seen
Everything I touched was golden
Everything I loved got broken
On the Road to Mandalay
Every mistake I've ever made
Has been rehashed and then replayed
As I got lost along the way
There's nothing left for you to give
The truth is all that you're left with
Twenty paces then at dawn
We will die and be reborn
I like to sleep beneath the trees
Have the universe at one with me
Look down the barrel of a gun
And feel the Moon replace the Sun
Everything we've ever stolen
Has been lost returned or broken
No more dragons left to slay
Every mistake I've ever made
Has been rehashed and then replayed
As I got lost along the way
Save me from drowning in the sea
Beat me up on the beach
What a lovely holiday
Theres nothing funny left to say
