So, what's everyones opinion of red eye flights? Anyone ever taken one? I've always thought it'd be pretty cool

Aren't they suppose to be cheaper?

yes and no. depends if the red eye you are taking is popular with business travelers. traveling midweek in the afternoon with weekend stays actually can be cheaper.

Aren't they suppose to be cheaper? It really depends on the airline.

I took one from Las Vegas to Cleveland once as part of a package deal. Most of the people slept. Other than that, it was a normal flight. Except for the part where my dad and I volunteered to be bumped to a later flight and wound up in first class instead. That was cool. The lady thought we weren't happy with our seats and she moved us to first class.

And, yes, it was cheaper.

I slept from Maui (11pm departure) back to the east coast, with one layover in Phoenix. The flight was cheaper than some others, and I was conked out the whole way on each leg of the trip.

i thought it started ok but descended into a Warner Bros cartoon after the protagonist fought back.

having started my career as an airline passanger mere months into my life, I've taken flights at all hours of day or night, the only negative to the red-eyes is that often you get stuck in an airport when all the shops and food court is closed.

I took redeyes on my flights back from Japan. Saved me a lot of money, and I was able to sleep half the flight.

I tend not to feel as good after an overnight flight, but I get over it fairly quickly. Probably because I rarely sleep on planes.

I don't really think there's anything that different about them to be honest, so if you can save some money then they'd be the way to go.

Took a red-eye from San Francisco to Washington DC.

I think I could have slept, if only I weren't so dehydrated. So I don't think I'd mind taking another one.

I have taken a red eye and it's the same as any other flight.

Seats are too small, movie is crap, and I can't sleep.

Try taking a flight from the east coast of the US to Maldives (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maldives) 31 hours and 3-5 planes to get there.

It's like you are Indiana Jones traveling to Nepal

Red eyes are good. Why travel while you're awake?

Unless you're a Meg Ryan fan, of course.

Took one from phylly to Madrid. Can't sleep in plains. It was god awful.

Also done one from Denver to Baltimore a couple times. Not as bad, but still can't sleep on planes.

My jaunt a couple months ago from Las Vegas to NYC was fine. I was in sleep mode (not really asleep but eyes closed) most of the time. Best thing: having to work the next day I got back on a Sunday at 8 a.m., rather than 10 p.m.
