as we all know the Hood has started poping up in new avengers. the last time I heard anything about him was at gravity's funeral in "BEYOND!". has he shown up in anything since then to estiblish his change of heart from wanting to reform and be a good guy at the end of beyond to mr. bad-ass upstart in NA? I'd like to hear his reaction to gravity being alive, also.

According to Bendis, the Hood never reformed - he only lied about it.

or...he's a Skrull. I mean, theoretically, breaking open the Raft in the first arc of NA was just the first step of the plan (a plan the Hood/Skrull may have been behind the whole time); consolidating power by unifying those escaped prisoners could be the second.
Peace.

I never read Beyond!, but everything seems in character from his The Hood miniseries and supposedly Bendis got the OK from Vaughn before doing anythign with him, so I assume they are either ignoring the Beyond! stuff or just retconning it.

Neither, really. Hood's supposed to go on to do great things. Great good things was kind of implied, but not explicitly stated. So he decided to go back to being evil. No big deal.

Just because you're evil doesn't mean you can't do "great things". Look at the Hood like The Godfather. Vito was a man of honor who loved his family and friends, but that didn't stop him from being a ruthless mobster who destroyed anything that got in the way of his rise to power, the same thing goes for his son too.

Keep in mind that he has started to take on the more demonic aspects of the cloak.
