He's gonna get his ass kicked by Sodam Yat.

Sodam Yat vs Prime would be great. The hints of Yat's kryptonian lineage have been in the back of my mind since I read of it. So, those two vs. eachother on earth would be cool.

It's Superman Prime or SMP. And the kryptonian boy from infinite crisis was Young Superman Prime. No such thing as SBP. Never has been.

Nope. Never. In fact, Superman himself was never Superboy. He was always Superman or Young Superman. And Kon-El was Superkid or Cloneboy.

20 years. That's a long time. You are probably wrong. Trust DC. Believe in them. Repeat after me: there was always just Superman. We also had Young Superman and LOSH, we even had Superman Jr. TV series, but there never even a thought of some Superb.. Never.

Wow. Never realized there's so many who have had their sarcasm radar unplugged...

My theory is that 'Primey' not only retcon punched his own real world identity outta wack, but also unleashed some kind of sarcasm detection blocking disease.

The character was orginally called 'Superboy' and he was from Earth-Prime. He first showed up not long before the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' series in 1985/86 and was a key player in the later editions of that series. At the time, he was simply referred to as Superboy.

He was first called 'Superboy Prime' when he returned more recently in 'Infinite Crisis'. This was mainly because the writers needed to differentiate between him and the existing Superboy, Conner/Kon-El. They hadn't had this problem in the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' series as he'd been the only Superboy around at that time.

He's now called Superman Prime because (I've heard) the legal wranglings over the name 'Superboy' mean DC cannot (currently) have a character by that name. I think that's one of the reasons Conner was killed off.

Anyhow, my view is that he may well be killed off for good this time, or be sent to one of the new parallel Earths to become their Superman (and so a good guy again). He is supposed to have pre-COIE strength which makes him more powerful than just about anyone. So he doesn't really fit in with New Earth.

Fate of Superboy Prime

Personally, this is what I'd like to see happen: -

Superboy Prime in Final Crisis.

The Anti-Monitor is back as well.

SBP sees Anti-M in some great final battle (lots of other heroes versus Anti-M) and remembers that this was the guy responsible for the destruction of his universe... every one he ever loved, cared about, etc. He takes on the Anti-M... all by himself.

You remember the dialogue Superman gave to Darksied (while beating the crap out of him) on that issue of Batman/Superman where Darksied zapped Supergirl into dust (but she was actually teleported off to the Watchtower by WW), well, expect the same kind of dialogue from SBP as he tears into the Anti-M.

SBP realizes he is hurting the Anti-M because of [insert valid reason here]. He also realizes that he is the only one therefore capable of stopping/destroying the Anti-M for good. However, what he has to do might destroy him as well. I picture him coming to this realization and having a good long look at his life, his love, the people he cared about, the heroes around him struggling to save the universe (he had always wanted to be one of them), places where he went wrong, and how this was his chance to -- not undo, but redeem himself if only a little in his own eyes. This was his chance to be Superman. Realization is followed by determination, and determination gives him the strength to carry/push/drag the Anti-M into some kind of rift (I'm thinking a place outside the DC multiverse where nothing can exist, not even the Anti-M or SBP -- think the one that Vertigo Lucifer flew off to at the end of his series).

The last we see of SBP, he has something of a sad but proud smile on his face. He may not have been Superman... but in that time, place and moment, in his mind, he was the greatest Superman that ever lived.

I would say it ends here for SBP but no, it doesn't.

A few weeks later:

Superman (the real one) is sad that they lost SBP. Sure, he was a little whack but the kid did good in the end. And suddenly out of nowhere appears the Phantom Stranger, asking Superman to come with him as he has something to show him. I'd say the Phantom Stranger is being very cryptic, but, since its Phantom Stranger, that's a given. They blink out of existence and appear into a cafe. Superman notices he is in his Clark Kent disguise. Superman asks where he is. PS just say to watch. A female someone calls out "Clark". Superman turns to find a red-headed teenager heading towards him (he can't recognize her) -- she passes him and he turns to see her greeting another teenager -- its SBP in plain clothes. Superman takes a step forward but the PS stop him and asks him only to observe. He listens as the two talk about upcoming social event (maybe the prom or something). The girl is Lana Lang of SBP's world. She wants him to take her to it. Clark happily agrees. They walk off talking about their day and wondering what the future will bring. The Stranger at this point starts to speak. He tells Superman that the pain of loosing his original world lifted him up to be a hero, and then that pain plus the manipulation of someone turned him into a villain, and it was the remembrance of the cause of that exact pain that turned him towards the right path at the very end. This world... this universe... it was created just for SBP by the one the Stranger serves (The Presence). Think of it as heaven for the boy who lost everything. Here, he will never have any superpowers. He will not fight, nor face any super-villains. He will never even have to fall victim to a single mugger. Here, he will live a perfect life, marry his dream girl one day, have the perfect children... for the eternity of silent pain and suffering he went through, here, he will live one long, prosperous and happy life. Superman listens on as he looks on at the teen couple walk away hand in hand, he smiles and says, "good, he deserves it." They blink out of that universe. Last full-page panel is of SBP and Lana either sitting around, or walking (his arm over her shoulder, a large and very happy smile on both their faces).

And that's what I wish the fate of SBP will come to. A happy ending. (Yes, I hated the fact that they used SBP as a scapegoat for all the crap that went on the DC universe. Yes, my mind has been working overtime trying to figure out how SBP could be redeemed. Yes, this is the best I could come up with).

'Course, this probably isn't the fate DC has in store for SBP but hey... I can dream right?

Or... wait for someone to write me a fanfiction based on the above scenario *hint* *hint*. :D

I just hope both SBP/SMP and the Anti-Monitor get some "screen time" before this whole thing is over, because they're pretty big villains and haven't really been used all that much in this story yet. Unless they're saving them both for Final Crisis or something.

Sodom Yat vs. Prime would be pretty awesome, I have to admit, as mentioned on previous posts.

It seems to me that DC doesn't really care what happened in the original crisis.

Everything that happened there is being undone for no apparent reason.

I think the anti-monitor should be ripped apart and sent back to whatever hole the writers brought him out of right along with superman prime. He's the biggest whiner in the DC universe and since he's now back it makes the death of the older superman pointless and it also makes all those deaths during crisis also pointless.

This whole crisis thing in my opinion is being way over rated and overdone. Crisis the original was great becasue it was only 12 issues and it was a great story where heroes sacrificed themselves for the entire universe.
