With the January 2008 Dark Horse solicitations hitting the web, I thought it prudent to finally peruse the Dec 2007 Previews last night.

One the few questions that I had was where the heck was Ultimate Origins #2 in the Marvel section. Looks like my answer can be found here (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=132141) at newsarama:

On Ultimate Origin being re-scheduled...

Bendis and artist Butch Guice have three issues completed, but some tie-in stories written by Jeph Loeb won't be ready till next year. Plus they didn't want the Ultimate Universe storyline to conflict with Bendis' Secret Invasion miniseries, so Ultimate Origin is getting pushed back until the end of summer 2008.

Kind of sucks - I was really looking forward to the Butch Guice art. But then Mr. Cynical Comic Book Guy reared his ugly head and thought that it wouldn't be something from Jeph Loeb these days (who I assume is super busy with HEROES) if it wasn't late!

Some of my other thoughts:

1. Star Wars: Legacy #0 1/2 - Really? They couldn't come up for a better name than this?
2. Mike McKone back at DC (which was already pretty obvious), teamed up with Geoff Johns AND penciling a book that I am currently reading! This is good news to me.
3. Larry Stroman back in comics? - Of course, this has already been covered by CBR (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=11976)! This is pretty cool as he has such a unique style.

Trip

One more thing:
4. Ultimates 3 #1 ships in December - can we really expect #2 in January 2008?

I should hope so, lord knows he's had what almost two years to finish? More than two years? But that line "some tie-in stories written by Jeph Loeb won't be ready till next year" could give you a bit of worry. Maybe it's not Loeb's writing that is putting it on hold, but Maduira's (I know I butchered the spelling of that) art that is the delay. Who the hell knows?

The most recent issue of Wizard had a 2 page blurb on Joe Mad that didn't inspire confidence that he would be able to meet all of the deadlines. Apparently, this comic gig was his part-time job and he only agreed to take it if Marvel gave him some leeway with the deadlines. Now I'm really scared that he is only 3 issues into a 5 issue mini-series!
