I've been a long time fan of Aquaman. I really have to say that I have been enjoying Tad William's story for Aquaman. I think that his fantasy style writting really captures Aquaman's underwater landscape.
One thing I dislike is the killing of the original Aquaman. (Yes, the Dweller of the Depths or Orin - died a few issues back.) It really makes me angry. That aspect of the story has nothing to do with Tad Williams. That part of the story was started during the 52 series.
Has anyone else been reading this book?

I enjoyed it but it was a shame he couldn't write about the real Aquaman.

Really? They did that?
I didn't know that they went ahead and did that.
Care to tell me which issue? I'd like to read that issue myself.
I quit Aquaman at #48 or #49, I don't really recall which issue. Busiek's Aquaman bored the crap out of me, and I have read what he had planned to do with the character, but eventually that would have took way too long for my taste.

I think it was issue #50 or #51... I can't remember at the moment. I totally agree with you on Busiek. Yes he is a good writer but his take on Aquaman was sooo boring. Tad Williams is way better.

I appreciate what he was trying to do. He was trying to wrap up all of the different directions the character had gone in since the last relaunch, tie 'em together somehow, while having two versions of the same character, one of whom these events were significant to, but was unable to be the main player in them, and the other being the "clean slate" to start telling "fresh" stories with who didn't have any personal investment in those previous events that were coming back to him.
After Kurt explained what he intended to do with the character, I'm unimpressed with what Tad did. They should've shared notes, because Kurt's eventual ending gave everyone a chance to be happy with the character(s).

Thank you. I'll have to check that out next time I'm at a store.
For some other Aquaman threads around here and Busiek's take on what he wanted to eventually do of the character can be found here.

There seems to be quite a division between Busiek fans and Williams fans from those links...

I read issue 50 and the dialogue I felt was just plain hokey and juvenile. That coupled with worst art I have seen in a long time I had to let it go.

The book has gotten better in the last 6 issues. I'm not saying that it's the greatest book that ever was printed. But the characters are likable and the story arc is getting better. I do think Tad Williams run will add some positive aspects to the title.

Tad Williams is my favourite author so that's the only reason I started reading Aquaman. I enjoy it so far though. I have absolutely no frame of reference for knowing how good it is in comparison to other Aquaman reads cause I've never read any of the books before. All I know is that he was the guy with the hook that talks to fish. And that's not meant to me some funny joke, that's just honestly all I knew of the character. The only place I've seen anything of him was in JLA: tower of babel trade.
