Just got Tangent Vol 1 and it was fun.

The in-jokes and references were cute and some of the characters and concepts were neat, though since each issue had to introduce the characters and tell a story they ended up a bit predicatable.

It's not the best thing I've read, but I got $13 of entertainment out of it.

Of course silly, silly DC won't put out Vol 2 until next year, by which tiume my warm and fuzzy feeling will have faded and I won't care any longer.

Silly DC. You've had this material for 10 years now and you can't reprint all of it in a timely way?

I have to agree. DC's reprinting policy is well, piss poor. They can manage 4 volumes of 52 in a single year, but they can't be bothered to do Tangent on a timely schedule. This is especially baffling considering ION did do a crossover with the Tangent Universe.

52's reprints are just as bad. 2-3 months between volumes is far too long. Most mangas come out once a month (assuming the original japanese material is already done). Otherwise the audience loses interest and stops buying.

Indeed. DC's mindset of putting the trades out quickly hurts the single issue sales is just plain stupid. Marvel cranks out trades at a rapid pace and their single issue sales are just fine. Nevermind the fact that some people don't have access to the single issues locally, and the others who don't buy anything but trades. It's a horrible business decision and it only hurts sales in the long run. As long as the material is out there and people are buying it, I don't see why it matters what format it's in. Money is money.

What they might be trying is to sell one volume, gage sales and then plan the print run of the next one, so they need 3-4 months between each. But I think that's penny wise pound foolish. The loss of momentum and enthusiasm hurt more than the planning time helps.

Anyway, does anyone know how many volumes there are? I remember there were 2 waves of Tangent, is that 4 volumes then?
