Congratulations to these ten talented artists and good luck to them in the competition!

And much thanks to former CBI contestants Billy Penn, Carlos Rodriguez, Joe Infurnari, Jonathan Hickman, Jason Masters, Martin Redmond, Micah Gunnell, and Patrick Scherberger for being part of this season's selection committee.

More on the CBI3 contestants, some honorable mentions, and what's coming up in the first round in my next blog (http://cbi.comicbookresources.com/)!

Thanks, Vig!

I still can't beleive it...

Thank you first to CBR & J. Torres and the sponsors for putting this on, and to the selection judges for their choices! I'll do my best to make this fun & interesting for all the voters out there and the almighty panel.

And to the other 9 - CONGRATULATIONS! It's a hugely talented group. Let's give 'em a show.

Now watch out ;> Game is ON.

And to the other contestants, I'll see you in the Play At Home! Please don't let this stop you from putting in your best stuff!!!

Congratulations to all.

I'm pulling for Jon Reed since he lists his occupation as "Accountant Assistant" and I can relate to being stuck in a non-art related job while dreaming of becoming a comic book artist! I could see him working on Spiderman, and drawing a great Peter Parker and Mary Jane with that style.

Most of the other guys seem to have the art thing going somewhere in their careers - and I feel it should be like American Idol, where the person was a waitress, or something totally unrelated to music, and becomes a pop star, that is what makes it pretty cool.

Awesome job fellas! I'm so excited to see you all perform the weekly tasks and throw your best punch. I'm hoping to participate in the follow-along thread, but we'll see. One of my two picks made it at least. Great job Daniel LaFrance! I love the storytelling and "animation" you have in your artwork.

damn right it won't...fellas, lets show these top 10 that we're not down for the count. i think the best way to do the play at home portion is to motivate one's self that he's part of the top10...that way, we don't end up just participating for the sake of participating. as j. stated in his previous post, some lucky dude got a gig while doing the play at home...so who knows who's watching!:P

and to the top10....congrats and goodluck. i'm honored to have played with you and and all the very talented artists in the comp. gonna be one heck of a show!!! can't wait for things to roll!!!

mymtymark - that's the only way to roll! :D Remember, 9 of us T10 fellas will wind up right beside you guys, playing the At Home rounds. Personally I'd like to see a semi-finalists game amid the other 174 people who put in (excluding T10s who were voted off). There's a LOT of hot hands out there.

I wonder if in the At Home rounds, teamups are allowed? Like a penciller/inker combo who can switch up each round? The potential for collaboration is pretty massive here.

3!LL - LOL!! Well put. ;)

Werd. Mega dittos on what he said. XD

Well, I can't be mad at the judges. They definitely put together a nice, diverse selection of artists. That's alright though, because in 4 weeks, we'll REALLY SEE who's who and what's what. >:P

congrats to all the top ten that made it!thats awesome.
-nick...time to do work son.

Yeah...gonna see if I can't top that 3 day all-nighter I pulled in Jersey(I almost died...slept the whole drive to florida with Isaac and Phil). Oh yeah Phil's getting married and having a kid...and he beat cancer like 2 years ago...if you haven't heard. Crazy huh?
Man...I wish you would have been selected buddy...(actually that would have been one more talented guy to worry about...and it would end up much like B-Ball...me running my mouth and you scoring at will....although i've got the prettier outside shot)........ I've actually been trying to broden my horizons lately I picked up a few Akira trades...watched the movie....and I recently purchased a big manga collection called Tekkon Kinkreet Black And White...by Taiyo Matsumoto. Just randomly saw is at the shop.... he has this Euro/Manga fusion style that I'm loving. Indy looking an awesome. I'm also loving Paul Pope these days...his style is organic...raw brush strokes...and he has apparently done alot of work in asia...but I wouldn't say its manga. Let me know any of you suggestions. I'd whole heartedly recommend those guys listed above...along with a steady dose of Quitely/Fisher/Darrow/Moebius/Manara...and a little Mike Allred.... for shits and giggles.
I expect your support in the contest...after all...how many of the other contestants have you shared a room with?

Best,
nick

Congrats guys!
I think you're probably the most talented group in CBI so far. I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing what all of come up with each week, I'm sure its gonna be some amazing stuff! Its going to be crazy this year, because there really don't seem to be any weak links as far as I can tell.
Also, to those who didn't make it...There is always next time! Picking the finalists was not an easy task. I would have like to have had about 10 more votes, because there were a few very talented people that unfortunately didn't quite make the cut(you probably know who you are). I just want to say thanks for entering, and for showing your art...I'll be keeping an eye on ya:) Keep working at it, and don't get discouraged!

I assume you're saying that to the "CBI first for me" bit. In both of the previous CBIs there have been artists whose work I didn't like. From what I can see this year (which is about 7 of them) I like them all so far
