back when the crossover craze was big, and Hellboy met lots of other characters, who got missed that would have worked? For me Mr. Monster comes to mind. Who else would have worked good in a crossover with Hellboy or anyone else from the BPRD world?

I think a big blow-out battle with Etrigan the Demon would have been great. MIke's rendition of the Demon is very Kirbyesque.
I can imagine HB being driven nuts by all of the ryhming.

A Hellboy/Sandman crossover could be interesting. It'd be easy enough to get big red into the dreaming. Just have him fall asleep and start beating the crap out of his nightmares.
Then stick him in a tavern with Merv where the two can smoke cigars and kick back a few cold ones.
In fact leave the Endless out of it (except a small cameo in the background) and just use the Dreaming.

Hellboy/Army of Darkness crossover. the comic based on the cult movies, the Evil Dead series. I would love to see that. Hellboy and Ash, a mad man with a "Boom-stick" in one hand and a chainsaw attached to his right arm, battling demon posested zombies (Deadites) summoned by the evil book of the dead, the Necronomicon ex Mortis. it would go something like this. the entire town of dead, i mean Dear Born, home to one Ashly Williams, is possessed by the evil deadites. the BPRD send in there top agent, Hellboy to stop the deadites. he finds Ash, doing his best to servive the onslought of possessed, and the two work togeather to stop the one in possession of the book of the dead.
thats my chose for a crossover.

Thought of a good one, Hellboy sent in by the BPRD to hunt down Bruce Banner early in his Hulking career. Out in the desert, early 1960's.

No need to answer ... Wolverine would have make a dawn good kickass friend.
But stories that is the hardest part for good crossover.
I don't know what kind of things they could have done together, or what kind of bad guy they would have fight ... anyway i think Wolverine should be a good choice.
For other character Hellboy should meet what about Dr Strange or Von Doom.

Generally I hate crossovers unless they are two characters in a similar or even polar opposite role that can complement each other. For instance, Batman teaming up with just about any member of the Justice League makes sense, however, Hellboy teaming up with Painkiller Jane?!
As this is a "dream team" thread though I'll play nice. I would imagine Hellboy teaming up interestingly with a character in the Shazam/Captain Marvel vein. Someone who is mostly whitebread and somewhat naive', as Hellboy seems to exhude a been there and done that vibe.
Sometimes characters with completely opposite points of view provide interesting comedy relief and or opportunities to pull each others fat out of the proverbial fire. I'd like to see Hellboy forced to admit in some way that his cynicism and or world-weary view isn't always the best one.

I dig the Orson Randall idea.
If I were a little bird whispering into Mike's ear, I would say Nocturnals over and over. I had this whole crossover all fleshed out about the BPRD and the Nocturnals meeting up and having to piece together and resolve an end-of-the-world type mystery in locations across the Pacific Rim. Our heroes would pair off with each team tackling a hot spot. Teams consisted of HB and Doc (and Eve), Liz and Firelion, Roger and Gunwitch, Abe and Starfish, and Johann and Polychrome (among others). With their obvious simiarities, it would have been a character development vehicle to see how each compared and contrasted to one another. Brereton is my 2nd favorite artist behind Mike. If you are unfamiliar with the Nocturnals, check them out. If you like HB, you'll probably like the Nocs.

Picture this- a mountain hideout. HB and Wolvie on a wooden deck of a cabin enjoying the breath taking scenery while partaking in quality cigars and spirits. All of a sudden Wolvie flashes his titanium claws and HB raised his RHoD and start having a little 'discussion' about Cubans cigars vs. the Dominican versions.
Their common enemy would be Cerebus, even though he is not a 'bad guy.' You could fight good guys too, right? That Cerebus can sure hold his own.

I'd like to see Hellboy having to take a long drive (Liz = the driver since big Red lacks any decent clutch / car stereo control) with someone he despises - either Cable or the Punisher. Logan / Wolverine has the backseat for having a total existential breakdown. Leaving room for one other female heroine, someone throwing adolescent redundant fits like Rogue or the Black Canary, recently out of rehab from something. Arriving at an Alaskan secluded truck stop or 'interstate last resort bar' sort of thing, our gang is in for one hell of a comic heroic surprise (end of teaser).
This mix of 'slangy comic fest' and 'fun fist canundrum' should be drawn by Stuart Immonen, narrated by Eric Powell & Mignola, lettered and colored by Dark Horse people, under the working title '90's comic baddies off turf'.

Hellboy/Hellsing
Crazy Nazi vampires, secret Christian Knighthoods, myth interwoven into action and history (Rip Van Winkle's ability from the 'Der Freischutz' Opera), cities burning in apocalyptic horror.
You KNOW it would work.

If anyone read the short spin-off Marvel gave Nightcrawler you'll know why I say Hellboy and Nightcrawler. They could team up for a few issues of supernatural suspense.

Ok, so he's probably not an important enough character to warrant a big crossover (especially anymore) but I'm a big Nightcrawler fan. I guess I've got a thing for good half-demons now that I think about it. Strangely enough their styles kind of compliment each other. One being all about speed and dexterity, the other about damage and raw strength. I think it'd be an interesting team-up.
Ha,ha and you're killing me with that Hello Kitty bit up there. Good one. I'd like to see that. Wierd Tales Vol 3 maybe?

If you were in Hellboy's position and had to form your own army for some reason, which good or bad characters you greatly admire (from either the comic world, the film and TV world, the video game world and also from real life) would you pick for such an ideal army ? It'd help to say why, but you don't have to.

I read your topic and for some reason I thought of Hellboy needing to fight an army of ghosts on horses. This made me think of Dr Orpheus from The Venture Bros. and Link from Twilight Princess.
Yeah, I know, random.

I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner.
Hellboy needs to team with Spidey to fight Venom/Carnage/Insert any number of symbiotes.
Not only would Spider-Man's dry wit and hijinks compliment Hellboy's humor, but the symbiotes are strange aliens and Venom is just...it would be a cool Hellboy fight.

I'm up for Hellboy / Spidey. Mainly cuz I seem somewhat ambivalent on Spider-Man.
I read him like much twipp-ing the city while thoughtbubbling away on stuff like "Boy those frat-boys messed up the dorm again" or "As soon as Octo's dealt with, I need to 'fess up to Auntie May about turning ProChoice", all amazingly voice-capped by Stan Lee. The man I hold in high regard, but the many musings through action sections (which may be just in my head alone) I find uhm, to much set the tone.
So a Hellboy team-up could prove educational for me.
Like to see Hellboy, while plucking Venom like a dry weed, chin-grittingly eyeballing from Carnage to Spider-Man for going: "Hey linty, are you with me?" Yep I could see that.

*Hellboy looking Spider-Man up and down upon first meeting, of course, while in the midst of a Venom battle*
Hellboy: "Ya' got more cobwebs than the Santiago De Compostela, time to do laundry kid."
Spidey: "These webs are drawn on, it's my costume. *thwip, thwip*
Nice mask, horn head!"
Hellboy: "Watch it, linty, I'm all real, no implants, and I'm on your side."
*Venom jumps through the space between them, nailing Spidey with symbiotic stretch punch*
Hellboy: "Son of a...giant alien whatchamacallit!"
...Wow, I really want this to happen now. I feel like I'm thirteen again.

If 'dreamteam' Mike Mignola & Barry Kitson don't pick up on this, I might take some stab at it myself, since I been meaning to revive my dabble-thread for 'real sequential panels', soon as the dust from moving house will ever clear... I would like to see Hellboy team up with Scully and Maulder. X Files Hellboy crossover, that would be a dream come true. In addition, and this one is odd, Hellboy, Usagi Yojimbo from Stan Sakai's long running rabbit samurai comic, and Link from Legend of Zelda. Why? Mainly because Usagi Yojimbo and Hellboy are two of my longer running favorite comics, that remind me of my earlier days, as does Legend of Zelda.

i wonder how a hellboy mr. mxryzptlk guest cross over would work out?(or however you spell his name, you know who i mean!)
im not sure if he would acctually fit in well in the hellboy universe ... but i think hellboy would deal with him in his usual relaxed business as usual manner. As though 5th dimention entitys were his specialty. It would be interesting to see what sort of twisted mischef and games Mxy would put him through too.
