I jumped on the Captain America bandwagon with the Winter Soldier. I stepped away just prior to Captain America's death. I'm a bit older and for some reason want to get back into the Captain America series.
Is this series worth jumping back into?
Thanks,
HH

It is better to not read comics at all than to read comics and miss out on Captain America.

This has to be one of the best books Marvel has to offer at this current time,Plenty of action,Grittiness, Conspiracy, and guest stars galore you won't be disappointed.

If this is the only title you pick up each month you won't want to miss it. In fact, pick up as many issues as you can from #25 on and you won't be disappointed in the slightest!

Most definitely worth reading. This current mega-arc is going to go down as one of the the Marvel stories.

I'll be the dissenter here...
I loved the current series up until #25... 25 itself was fine, but I've been pretty bored since then. As far as a "jumping in" point, I'd say wait until the next arc.
The most recent issue did pick up the pace, and things might be turning around already, but right now, Cap is pretty uninteresting to me and I wouldn't recommend that someone jump on right now in the middle of this story.

Captain America is one of the best comics Marvel currently publishes (along with Iron Fist). (for the record, I am also an 'older' comic reader.)

Am I the only one that the whole "Death of Cap" is doing nothing for?
I'm not saying the stories after his "death" are bad, it's just that we all know he will return and have been burned so many times by the stories of characters returning from death, that it has completely turned me off to the whole thing.
But that's just me. (I really wish I wasn't so cynical about the whole thing but I can't help it)
And really, who am I but some CBR Forums lurker......

If you don't read it, you're a failure as a comic book fan. The book got even better with Cap. America's death.

Eh. Not my cup of tea. Reading it but I'm wavering. I think cause honestly and figuratively its Captain America in name only. Duh I know. I mean why not have a book called X-men but with only Avengers in it????? Makes no sense, now at least.
BUT..........Iron Fist is awesome!!!!!!!!!

I love it, and I really don't like cap. But if you left the book because you didn't like it there's no reason to get it now. Maybe it's not you taste.

I think cynical is the wrong word... I mean, I think everyone knows that Cap will be back eventually, it's just that I think most people (myself included) appreciate the quality of the storytelling that's getting us there.
If it's going to fundamentally ruin the story for you when Cap returns, then I suppose you're right to keep one step removed from it, but I don't think Marvel are trying to put one over on you or anything.
Assume there will be a triumphant return, and just enjoy the ride to that point, would be my feelings on it.

Works better in trades(as does Iron Fist). Pick it up twice a year, you will be much happier. X-factor and Order are better month to month.

Yes, buy it @ the expense of a lesser title if necessary. It's awesome. Bucky is carrying the torch whilst Cap is indisposed (dead). Sharon and Falcon keep the drama comin'. It's very good, get it.

maybe it's better in trades, but Capless Cap has gotten boring. I dropped it a couple of months ago.

Ed Brubaker is a master storyteller, which is evident in that Captain America is as exciting and fun to read without the title character as it was with him. Not to say that Cap isn't missed, just saying that's how good the writing is. I am loving each and every issue post death, I know Cap will be back, I just sit back and enjoy each issue and enjoy the ride...

I picked it up after/during Civil War. I like it a lot.
Personally, this is the only Marvel book I'll never miss. Ever. I want Steve back, too-- and hopefully that'll happen-- but the stories have really been good, both before and after his death.
I guess I should say "the story has been good," because really this entire Brubaker run has been one big mega-story.
