From IGN, here's some preview pages from the upcoming Captain Marvel mini:

The artwork looks great, and I can't wait to see the world reacting to the return of the good Captain. Seriously, between this, Nova, and Conquest the cosmic side of Marvel has never been better.

And here I was thinking they were gonna coop him up in that stupid prison. Took Marvel long enough to set him loose.

I'm excited for this series for the art. I love Lee Weeks, his pencils are fanbloodytastic. I've never really been a fan of Captain Marvel (then again I've never really read much with him in it) but I'm hoping this series will turn me into one.

I'm not missing this mini for the world. The first Captain Marvel I was introduced to was "Mar-vel" instead of the Fawcett "Shazam" Marvel.

I'm still mortified that he's been kept dead for so long, and truly wish he could come back in his own book. From what I've read, however, he's not doing anything of the sort and only appearing in the mini, but I'll take that for now.

Considering the number of issues not going to be touched on in this mini (he doesn't meet his kids for one thing; well, he meets Hulkling in a Young Avengers mini coming out in January, but he still needs to meet Genis and Phyla), I doubt this will be his last mini series.

You know, it doesn't matter how many pictures I see of the Battle of Times Square, I still think "My God that looks cool".

I seriously could have read an entire 7 issue miniseries on that one colossal mega-battle.

I was hoping the art would be crap, so I'd have an excuse not to buy it. Damn it!

Still, Ms. Marvel on cover #2? I guess it's too late to tell Reed that Carol got over her silly crush long before Mar-Vell died, and that bringing it back is hardly necessary. If they play this angle too much and Mar-Vell's real wife doesn't show up by the end of #3, I'm dumping the mini.

I hope Marvel reprints The Death of Captain Marvel soon too: if not now, it'll never happen.

They aren't kissing or anything.

Who wouldn't want to see the two characters working together?

According to Reed, even though Carol isn't pining after Mar anymore, he was the reason did became a superhero. She wants him to join the Mighty Avengers.

Another Marvel series that I would like to check out but because it is a "result" of the Civil War series I am leery of trying it - especially after the awful CW: Return issue. But I like Brian Reed's writing & I love Lee Weeks art. I guess my decision will be made at my LCS after flipping thru the issue.

The art looks solid.

I'll definately check it out... though truthfully I'm not all that psyched about the character.

I thought it was lame that he would just sit around being a warden for some jail in the negative zone. And I actually thought it was even lamer that he would abandon it and leave the prison in a dilapidated state. Everything about his return has basically sucked so far.

I swear, Lee Weeks must've sold his soul to the devil to be able to produce his beautiful art.

"The Death of Captain Marvel" is available as reprint right now, as the second half of "The Life and Death of Captain Marvel" TP. Not a bad reprint, even if the color reproduction does come off a little garish on the glossy white pages.

I'm waiting for the "Warlock" reprinting, myself... anybody from Marvel listening?

Can't wait for Mar-Vell's new series! I've been hoping to see more of Ultimate Mar-Vell (whose Kree uniform kicked ass, btw) since Ultimate Secret/Gal Ach Tus whatever... but the real deal is even better!

I'm sure I read somewhere that said she confronts Mar-Vell due to her guilt at not being there when he passed away or at the funeral...plus like DaeJi said...to offer membership....I dont think they will play the crush angle....that died long ago.......I would love to see if Mar-Vell confronts his wife or if that may be just adding to her burden by doing so....there are many stories to tell here.....I for one can't wait....I just hope Reed does a better job than Jenkins than with the "Return"......I for one am optimistic.............oh yeah...its good to be a cosmic fan right now. :)

I already have all the stories from the "Life" part of the book. I really just need the "Death" bit now.

This is a mini series, that fandom is going to split right down the middle over. Me,I'm picking up six copies of each issue, one for me, and five extra because I want to support the character,as well as have a few copies when they sell out,and they will. No, it wont do as well as thor has done, but,it's going to do MUCH better then most anticapate.

As a fan of both Mar-Vel and Ms. Marvel, a romance would be neat. But you know what would be even cooler? If Mar-Vel, before he returned to the past and his certain death, passed the name of "Captain Marvel" to her.

No, it would not work given Carol has lost all her emotional ties to Mar-Vell when Rogue absorbed everything she was in Avengers Annual #10. Carol Danvers is a completely different character now, although the genesis of her super-heroic character comes from Captain Marvel.

I wish this was an ongoing, I would be all over it. As a mini, I'll trade wait. Omega Flight tricked me, they said if we wanted it to stick around, we had to order the issues and not just wait for trade. It sold pretty well, and not a word!

You wont trick me twice! :p

man Marvel(comics not the character) is evil, a uninteresting character(to me) like captain marvel gets outstanding artist that makes it at least appear to be worthy of readin, meanwhile the new avengers has an artist who's never in his life met a solid line, wasting time in what should be a truly great series, that I'm still buying because it is the Avengers...

evil marketting genius's, wonder what crappy art will take over for Liu(?) when he leaves... probably the guy drawing the flash(uggh)
