Matchbox Twenty has a new album (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlqfpPf_EO0) coming out in just over a week with 11 "Greatest Hits" and 6 new tracks.

This got me thinking.

We're at war in Iraq.

OJ is preparing for a media circus trial.

After one term of Bush, two terms of Clinton and two terms of Bush, we have a Clinton running.

Funky punk haircuts and electronic music are in.

Larry Craig is once again (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RntWGPEjoo) denying that he's homosexual.

Tensions with Iran are on the rise.

Some fear Russia will go red again.

Some of the big movies include properties like G.I.Joe and Transformers.

It's like we're whizzing around in time, like my life is flashing through my eyes backwards.

For me at least, it doesn't seem that long until we hit my birth and keep on going back.

We just need Alf on TV, John Lennon to rise from the grave and a huge fuel crisis and I'll be unborn.

Before long, we'll have nuclear drills in the schools, Kennedys reclaiming their role as political royalty, sock hops and malt shops, big band, world war, great depression, collapse of America as anything beyond a regional power, rise of the English and Spanish navies, civil war in the states, native Americans reclaiming their land and the Americans begging to rejoin the British before having a tea party and setting sail to the British Isles for a religious revival. Everybody rejoins Catholicism. The world goes flat. Rome rises again. Jesus Christ returns. The Greeks become the center of western culture as everybody flocks back to Mesopotamia and then a pack of dinosaurs kill us all before devolving into single celled lifeforms as the universe collapse into a point of singularity.

This would make a great tv show, as time begins to unravel and only a few people seem to notice.

So if you play "We Didn't Start The Fire" backwards, it sounds like CNN?

Speaking of Matchbox 20 didn't George Santyana play guitar for Rob Thomas in his solo effort "Smooth?"

I'd reply to this thread but I am off to read John Ostrander's new issue of Suicide Squad.

Heh. Amanda Waller is leading the Suicide Squad, Jason Todd is going around killing people, Power Girl is from Earth-2, Firestorm is joining the Justice League, Bucky is fighting Nazis, Spider-Man is a wanted criminal, mutants are a small, embattled handful of the population, Skrulls are in hiding all over the Marvel Universe, and the Hulk and Namor have declared war on humanity.

It figures that the first time in years superhero comics are ahead of the cultural curve, it's because the curve is going backwards.
