Hey Kids...
I loved Baltimore so much... was so captivated by the character and the depths of what drove him... that I needed him staring at me at all times...
so here he is... I know we've only seen two images of him from the mighty pen of MM.... but here he is a-new... based on those drawings... in living colour!!!!
First step was to carve the leg. I postulated that he'd craft a foot on the end, and would want it to look "finished" so I carved it as though it was a "boot" on the leg...
http://www.ronboyd.com/ImageHost/BaltimoreLeg.jpg
Then I got the word from MM himself... that it ended in a peg... so I left the boot top... just to add weight and an interesting shape... and there you go!!!

Hope y'all like... especially Mr. Golden and Mr. Mignola... thanks for the AMAZING inspiration!!!

Crikey that's nice. I wasn't too sure when I saw the naked figure but it goes to show you that clothes do make the man.

Wow, that's beyond impressive. I haven't read Baltimore yet, but I think I've seen one of the pics with the character in it, and the similarities between it and your figure are striking. You really captured the look and feel of the art. They should contract you to make an official figure!

I was just thinking today how someone needed to do a Baltimore figure mod! Looks great, I really like how the leg came out. Didn't he have a few more weapons, like a hatchet and such?

As others are saying, this is incredibly cool, Ron! If some company doesn't mass produce these at some point (I'm thinking Mezco would do a great job), well, there's a little less justice in the world.

I don't know how I missed this thread!
Your figure mod is amazing. The wooden leg with accumulated nails is perfectly realized.

"Oh my God! Oh my GOD!!!"
This is what my cats are hearing over and over, as I stare at those pictures. I finished the book a couple weeks ago and I almost get chills seeing the character in my head (and from Mignola's art) come to life. Great work with the photography too!
I want one.

Word has leaked out that Mezco has got the liscence for Hellboy The Golden Army figures. I wonder if they'll pursue Baltimore when the time comes...

^^^ OOh, and Mezco is venturing into Mego like figures, too. Man, a Mego type line would be great for Hellboy.

Congratulations, Ron! What a great write-up! It's fun to see your process photos too. I thought you modified a wooden artist's mannequin leg. I didn't realize that you had made it from scratch yourself! You are a crazy person. ;)
