WHAT IF? X-MEN: THE RISE & FALL OF THE SHI’AR EMPIRE
Written by CHRISTOPHER YOST
Penciled by LARRY STROMAN
Cover by OLIVIER COIPEL
THE RISE & FALL OF THE SHI’AR EMPIRE was an X-Men event like no other. Fresh off X-MEN: DEADLY GENESIS, Ed Brubaker took Marvel’s mighty mutants off Earth and on an intergalactic journey to stop VULCAN, the third Summers brother, from exacting revenge on the Shi’Ar Empire! But in that final battle in front of the M’Kraan Crystal, what if Vulcan absorbed the very energies that contained it many years ago? In other words, what if Vulcan became PHOENIX? When his unlimited rage is fueled with unlimited power...who will be able to stop him now? Writer Chris Yost (X-23, New X-Men, TV’s Fantastic Four) welcomes the return of legendary X-Factor and Alien Legion artist Larry Stroman to the X-Universe with this action-packed issue.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99
Definitive X-Factor artist Larry Stroman is back after a long absence on What If...The Rise & Fall Of The Shi'ar Empire Was Good? Now that he's back, what would you like to see him do next?
I'd love to see him finish David Hine's Son Of M/Silent War trilogy, given how well he does Quicksilver.

Definitely hot. And a Copiel cover too! <3 <3
I'd love to see Stroman and Pollina return to the core books. Stroman on X-factor again would be *amazing* but since we've already got the dreamy Mr. Ramondi on it, he might be good for Cornell's Excalibur relauch instead. Stroman + Wisdom = match made in heaven!

Pollina, Stroman, Bachalo, and Young would be the best X-Book art combo EVER.
I want to see him do the next GLA/X/C/I special.

Stroman is ok. But I want Pollina back at drawing a monthly X-Book.

So, so agreed.
I'd still want Ramondi in the mix though, and Bianchi on Astonishing's genius. I think I'd break it down as...
Bianchi on Astonishing with Ellis
Pollina on Uncanny with Brubaker
Young on New with C&C
Ramondi on X-Factor with PAD (if it 'aint broke...)
Stroman on Excalibur with Cornell
Bachalo on X-Force with Carey

Raimondi should never go away.

That's a pretty good idea. Excalibur could do with a regular artist. Preferably one that is good.

Yeah, Raimondi is gold right now. Of all the "realistic" artists, he's my favorite.
I'm loving Clayton Crain right now also, though!
GRRR. Is there such a thing as too much high-class talent?

This definitely sounds cool... I was actually looking back through issues of Tribe yesterday. :)
Oh... and, to agree with others, leave X-Factor alone. It's superb right now!
(and is, in fact, the only X-book I read now)

It will be interesting to at least see what drawing style he is using these days.

What the...? The Crystal granting Phoenix powers? Since when?
Stroman is great, very distinct style.

Why isn't he drawing the cover? He's 10 times better than Coipel.

What If...The Rise & Fall Of The Shi'ar Empire Was Good?
LOL, Cay!
I loves me some What Ifs...! And I loves me so Yost, so I'll be picking this up.
I wouldn't say it's a return since this is just a one-off What If...? story.

He was away, now he has returned.
Don't call it a comeback.

I like Raimondi on X-Factor, but I wouldn't cry for long if Stroman were to come on board.
