Her healing factor probably prevents her from aging all that much anyway, and if she's anything like Wolverine, she won't ever get that tall.

Actually, only her claws are coated with adamantium, not her entire skeleton, for that very reason :)

Hence we saw her bones crumbling all over the place when Belasco fried her during QfM ;)

She had her claws when she was a "handicapped 12 year old girl" who's metal would set off the metal detectors, and she grew to be 16/17 as she is now. She's aging like a normal child would, which is amazing based on how marvel characters "age".

I Think the people who created her forcefully grew her claws out to full adult length and then surgically put them back in. It shows it in her first mini series i believe

Claremont wrote her in that X-Men Christmas issue from a few years back, and in that ish he said she had her entire body laced with adamantium the same way Wolvie had his. But he got it wrong, and the rest of the world is pretending he didnt say that. But maybe thats why you thought that. So dont be too sad, cus technically, it was mentioned on panel.

I think years from now she will go a couple months at some point without being in an issue and so some new artist will bring her back and put her in a romantic situation, and people will post how mature they're portraying her. A few years later, a new artist will render her a tween again. But, the precedent establishes, years later, she'll finally be officially 18 or so, and not on whatever X-kid-team there is in the year 2020.

Kitty's 21 or so now. She's about 2 years younger than Sam, Dani and Rachel, 3 years younger than Rogue (who's confirmed to be 24 now).

Rahne and Roberto are both 20 now then, which makes them just a year older than Pagie and Monet (both 19 then). And that would make Jubilee 17 now.

Weird to think than Jono's older than half the New Mutants though (Kitty, Roberto, Rahne, Amara, Doug/Illyana if still around... not sure about the X-Terminators leftovers).

She was 18 when Wisdom tapped it. She was 19-20 in Mechanix.

Kitty's just a year older than Rahne... the problem comes in relative ages though. As Carey confirmed Rogue to be 24 (it's been 7 years since she joined the X-Men, and she joined at 17) then the rest fall in line. I'd agree, Kitty at 20 would work better with the timeline, but 21 doesn't seem bad either... Astonishing's glacial pace probably just makes it a little psychologically tougher to reconcile with the canon is all really.

Austin had Paige a bit too old in Uncanny though, she could've been around 18 then, but 19 would be too quick as far as aging. Jubes would've been 16 then though, which would make her placement within the active X-Men (and not attending classes) a bit strange.

Ellis was told she was an adult when he came aboard. Not "legal" but "adult". It makes more sense within the timeline though, as Kitty's peers in the New Mutants were mostly seen as adults by that point too.

Well, she SHOULD, depending on how she's drawn. I'd say, they are childs claws. But perhaps they intended them to be smaller than her brother's in the first place.

The other issue was that her being 15 made no sense to me, as the math doesn't add up. According to Yost, he says that during X-23 (1st series)--when Laura is going through that montage that shows her assassinating all over the world--that each panel represents almost a year in time. But that was NEVER mentioned. So if you didn't know that (which most people didn't) then believing she was only 12 when she killed her mom is a very reasonable deduction.

In a nutshell, if the montage is discounted (which is the only way she could be 25) Which would make her what...closer to 14 currently in New X-Men I'd say. It'd make sense that she would even be 15 by the time she joins that New X-Force joint.

Nevertheless, Mark Brooks and Skottie seem to be the the only ones aware of her age when they draw her.

if you did the math, and i'm sure you did, you undoubtedly added it up to 12 when her mom dies. And that's my point.

I think they jumped her up to 15/16 when they started New X-Men because they wanted to be able to show her as a 15/16 year old. And then you get guys like Paco Medina drawing her like she's one of the oldest kids in the house. I can't get into her being that old because then it becomes yet another character who's close to adulthood, but has a child's mind when it comes to social interaction.

Again, I was more interested in her having WAY more layers, a more interesting psychological characterization. The childlike curiosity she had has all but vanished. I miss her and Dust talking about religion. I would like her to do something very forward to Hellion, maybe even make a proposition, to which he's like "Laura, I...we can't," and her experience in NYX makes her question why he wouldn't want to.

And that's a matter of writing ability. Finessing so that it's not just a joke---or gross---but you'd actually feel bad that this is what Laura deems as normal behavior. I feel like she should be the one asking the most questions in the house, but unlike Pixie, she's not an annoying, never ending torrent of speech:p

I have to agree with CE_Rap. I was never much interested in Laura before she shows up in NXM. She should be curious and out of step compared to the other kids. But now she may end up on the sharp, pointy objects team and lose all development in favor of cutting more people (just my first impressions of the new X-Force team).
