Anyone know about the "Noble Causes Archives" slated to be released in jan/feb 2008?
are they going to be hardcover ? oversized ? full color ? or B/W like the "savage dragon archives" ?
I'd be great to get it collected like those "Invincible Ultimate Collection" or those "Walking Dead" hardcovers!
im defenitly getting that AND Dynamo 5

Over on Jay's Board at the Image forum (http://www.imagecomics.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?p=560131#560131), he's said the following:-
We're still hammering out the logistics, but the current plan is for the Archives to be comprised of two volumes, each running about 600 pages. And yeah, together they will collect ALL the NC stories -- from the mini-series, the ongoing, even the Extended Family one-shots and the Frost short from the Image Holiday Special. Everything up through issue #31.
Again, it's not set in stone, but I'd like to keep the price to around $20 per volume.
and
The Archives will be a b&w, softcover. We don't have a large enough audience to justify a full-color hardcover collection.

NOOOOOOOOOOO.
I'd rather go and buy the color trades, rather than get the BW archives as they are still in print.
It's a shame really. I'm sure Jay underestimate a potential fanbase, there's tons of people out there ready to buy the whole NC collected in two handsome hardcovers like those "ultimate Invincible Collection".
Couldnt they they at least do a limited print of like, 2500 copies like they did for "Madman Gargantua" ?
please jay, please, people love those nice collections and NC deserves one! see how the marvel omnibus and their oversized hardcovers are selling ?

I've been reading the series since First Impressions, love it to death. But I recently sold a good chunk of my Noble Causes collection (most of the ongoing series. But not the first three minis or the Extended Families), and this will be the PERFECT way to recollect the whole series for future rereading.
Color is overrated anyways, pure inks is generally more an impressive medium.
The book barely sells as it is, Omnibuses/Absolutes/Gargantuas don't seem like a very good idea to me financially for the series.

I have nothing against BW. I love my old Conan's, JTHM, Sock Monkey or Charles Burns' Black Hole.
I'm actually looking (unsuccessfully) for a copy of "Big Damn Hard Boiled".
But I like a bit of color in my superhero books.
I'm gonna go for the trades.
Anyway, Either way, i'm supporting Jay
